Summary: Hulk Rules
Review: I just finished reading "The Essencial Hulk", which contains 30 of the original Hulk comic books. This new movie looks very much like the original comic books. In the comic, Bruce pulls Rick Jones out of a 50's car and into a ditch just before a Gamma bomb explodes. I believe in this movie however, they use a machine to change Bruce into the Hulk, which is a tribute to the 70s series. The good thing is that this movie includes General Thunderbolt Thaddeus Ross and Major Glen Talbot. For years in the comics, these men hunted the Hulk while in reality, the Hulk just wanted to be left alone. I can't wait to see this film. Maybe I'll go there with the "Hulk Arms" and paint my face green.

Summary: This Movie is gonna RULE The Summer and NOT The Matrix.....
Review: Let's face it folks: All the Matrix fans and teenage boys can spout off how CHEESY or FAKE or CARTOONISH The HULK is, but the HULK Has several factors going for it that Reloaded and even X2 didn't have: FEMALE APPEAL.. Face it: The HULK has all the right elements and then some that made SPIDERMAN the huge hit that it was.. The HULK Will have: ACTION, DRAMA, ROMANCE, SUSPENSE with a Blend of SCI-FI Mixed in that will appeal to all age demographics, not to mention the fact that Ang Lee at least knows how to make a STORY, something the Matrix Reloaded lacked heavily and was too overly reliant on FX... Even Richard Roeper has predicted that Reloaded will not be the Summer winner, but the HULK.. Come June 20th, all the whiners who whine about the HULK'S CGI will be the same ones standing in line with the rest of us just like SPIDERMAN.. GO HULK!!!!!!!!!

Summary: This movie is smashing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: ... I saw The Hulk also. It follows the story of Bruce Banner a scientist who starts experimenting with alternating gamma. He enters a rare green liquid and the experiment goes wrong and poof,The Hulk is in town. The Leader, who is one of Hulk's greatest enemies in the comics and cartoons, asks Banner's best friend McRow who has been on a wheelchair his entire life,if he would like to see how he could walk. Obviously McRow accepts and turns into the same thing as Hulk,a 15-foot super strong green monster. McRow turns into Ravage a creature just like Hulk. So the super battle between monsters is on,but there's always someone to spoil it,The Leader. When both Banner and McRow cool off they faint. When they wake up The Leader is in front of them and McRow says "You!You did this to me!" Since he gets mad again he turns again into Ravage this time he is against The Leader. Banner isn't angry so he can't do anything about it. The fight is on. They both battle fiercly until the police arrive,Ravage runs away along with The Leader who also escapes and Banner gets angry with the police and turns into Hulk and the police call lots of helicopters and start chasing Hulk. So you are now kinda getting the drift aren't you? Well I can't tell the whole movie cause it would be to long. So the rest you will have to see. See ya!

Summary: HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET, BUT IT LOOKS CHEESEY.
Review: I GAVE IT 2 STARS BECAUSE I LIKED THE T.V. SHOW WITH BILL BIXBY AND LOU FERIGNO, IT WAS VERY WELL ACTED AND WRITTEN AND IT HAD GREAT F/X. PLUS IT WAS BELIEVABLE. THIS MOVIE, BASED ON WHAT I'VE SEEN IN PREVIEWS, LOOKS VERY, VERY HOKEY. THE F/X LOOK STUPID FRANKLY, WITH THE HULK BEING SOME KIND OF GIANT JUMPING AND RUNNING AROUND AND THE EARTH ACTUALLY SHAKING UNDER HIM. THEY COULD HAVE WENT THE MORE BELIEVABLE ROUTE AND JUST MADE HIM LOOK MORE LIKE HE DID IN THE SERIES, A VERRY LARGE PI__ED OFF MAN, AND NOT SO CARTOONISH. I HOPE THE ACTING AND WRITING PULL THIS MOVIE, WHICH I WILL PROBABLY SEE, ABOVE WHAT LOOKS LIKE SOME VERY SERIOUS F/X FLAWS.

Summary: The movie might work despite CGI.
Review: I find all the negative feedback about the CGI version of the Hulk to be unwarranted. To be sure the television show provided a more tragic protagonist than the creature of fate seen in the comic book. But with the upcoming film there lies the chance to see the Hulk fully realized and unfettered by the constraints of nielsen ratings or shoestring budgets.

Seeing Lou Ferrigno bust out on television was always a thrilling experience for me when I was a child. But looking back I believe that the television series didn't do justice to the comic book version of the Hulk.

One could say that this was because of the lack of technology to fully develop a believable rendition of the Hulk. It is safe to say that stop-motion would have been too expensive and CGI wasn't around in the 70's. One could use Technology as a line of argument in support of the film. But some have their doubts about a CGI Hulk. Responses I have read to Recent scans of the CGI version compared it to Shreck or Green Giant. So I won't stress technology as a reason to see "The Hulk." Instead I offer a more compelling argument to see the movie which I'll elaborate on momentarily.

Understanding that comic books as a medium reach a smaller audience than broadcast television does the tv show's producers probably wanted to attract the masses or uninitiated at the expense of hard core fans of the Hulk. They couldn't develop a version of the Hulk which compared favorably to the comic book version (no slight to Lou Ferrigno's inspired performance intended here). So they fleshed out the Banner persona in order to make up the difference.

The TV version of the creature's origin was more realisitc and tragic. David Banner's search for inner strength to redeem himself for his greatest faliure -- the untimely death of his wife -- proves to be the doctor's undoing. He willingly subjects himself to gamma radiation in a vain attempt to find meaning in his life. Here David Banner isn't a Cold War casualty like his comic book counterpart. He resembles the tragic hero who chooses to take matters into his own hands fashioning his own tragic end.

David Banner's earnest search for a cure to his ailment was both poignant and profound. Bill Bixby's performance gave the Banner character a dimension which never had been seen before in the comic book. The tragedy of Banner's life gave viewers more cause to empathize with the character especially when he underwent his "startling metamorphosis."

And yet something was missing. Gone on TV was the ambience provided by the supporting cast of the comic book. One couldn't hear the incessant hectoring of Thunderbolt Ross or feel the steadfast love of Betty Ross. In place of those attributes was the snopping of the only recurring non-Hulk role in the TV series: Jack McGee. McGee was an Inspector Gerard with a press pass and not much else. All that the character did was give Banner the impetus to run from the law a little while longer. All in all McGee was a bland substitute for the colorful characters who inhabited "The Incredible Hulk" comic.

It appears to me that the upcoming film might accomplish what couldn't be done in the TV show, ultimately to tell the story of a man whose rage became manifest and how such fury affected the lives of those who loved and abhorred him. One need only view the most recent trailer to get some idea of this. Such a story is the promise that I believe awaits me on the 20th of June.

There is the possibility that this film may turn out as an orgy of visual effects wizardry and CGI gimmicks. But looking at the director at who is at the helm and the crew behind him (on and off camera I might add)I doubt that "The HULK" will be just the usual escapist exercise in computing pyrotechnics and pixels into box office gross. Hopefully the film will be that rare summer fare which combines wit and sentiment to go along with the obligatory chills and spills. What interests me is seeing how all the players interact with one another and that monstrous creation that ILM has cooked up. I liken the creature more to what Lou Ferrigno said in an article in Entetrtainment Weekly than what the naysayers believe. More akin to "King Kong" than Shrek or the Green Giant.

I don't want anyone to get the impression that I hate the TV series. I still dream of that split image of Bixby and Ferrigno at the end of the opening credits of the TV show. But I would like all the naysayers to keep an open mind with regard to the film. Even if the CGI is off (I'd argue that some of the digital effects for "Spider Man" weren't all that convincing)the film might prove to be a success in terms of the acting and writing adding up to a story which might be more faithful to the comic book -- perhaps to the chagrin of fans of the TV show -- than the TV vehicle ever was or could be.

Summary: ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
Review: Is this a movie or a cartoon mix up?

The actor seems great for the part I must say but when his charater goes green with envy, it can only scream... BIRTH DEFECT! A few words for the ones behind this effortless project : Does the word realistic mean anything at all? Maybe this movie wasn't ready to hit the big screen just yet, since it seems digital artists now a days aren't paying much attention to life like graphics 101. Only those who cross the youth limit of age 35 can only get so hyped about wasting time & money on this cartoon.. I mean movie. Matrix Reloaded and X2 will run over this road kill a few hundred times.

Summary: Smash or bash?
Review: With the recent releases of X-MEN, SPIDERMAN and DAREDEVIL and their respective sequels, MARVEL is on a roll. The question is though: Can they keep up the money-making machine before one of these comic book-to-film action films tanks? For the most part events are boding well for the angry green guy's first big-screen adventure, especially since the movie is under the steady control of Ang Lee, and Nick Nolte adds extra gravitas. Also previews show that ILM has done an excellent job on the effects to transform Eric Bana into the titular anti-hero. Newcomer Bana fits the role perfectly, but there is the possibility for the CG to look ropey Regardless of ILM's excellent track record, there's always "Oh-how-fake" films like The Mummy Returns. Specualtion aside, it looks set to be one of the biggest movies of 2003.

Summary: What the??
Review: I was very much looking forward to this movie, but then I happened to see the preview on Super Bowl Sunday. Was that a joke. It looked like a cartoon. How big was the Hulk? 15 feet tall. Swinging tanks around. Maybe im just used to the old TV show where the Hulk was a normal man, but freakin huge. I'm sure the movie will be good, but why can't the directors make stuff look real instead of like a computer game. That is just me though for comic book fans I'm sure they love it.
