Summary: Pure pleasure
Review: Much to recommend this film.Cinematography by on of the all-time greats, Russell Metty (who had worked with Heston before in TOUCH OF EVIL.)Atmospheric score by Ron Grainer.Anthony Zerbe (especially his speech about the how one man eludes capture by the Family).Charlton Heston (of course).Best to catch this film on AMC so that it can be appreciated in all its Panavision glory (or on laserdisc).

Summary: "The last man alive is not alone..."
Review: As the only person immune to the bacteriological warfare that has decimated humanity, Chuck Heston has only to survive the demented homocidal survivers. The half-dead victims of the modern plague can only see in darkness, and hunt him by night. As he hunts them by daylight he finds that he is not alone after all...

If you liked Soylent Green and Planet of the Apes, you're sure to love this film written by the sci-fi master Richard Matheson. A true Heston classic.

Summary: This film is groovy baby
Review: Okay seriously this flick isn't that bad. sure it really has nothing in common with Matheson's novel but the Vincent Price version was more faithful and that movie is truly awful. I love these end of the world movies especially the ones made in the seventies. The clothes, the dialoge, the attitudes, it's great. This movies is a reflection of the time and it was a pioneering effort. Sure there is technical mistakes but it inspired so many others. George Romero and George Miller have both mentioned this movie as has Stephen King. Well worth watching. Can you dig it?

Summary: Omega Man is everything one could ask for in a '70's flick.
Review: Five stars for "Omega Man!!" I wasn't at all interested in seeing this video. At first you notice the cheapy seventies look to the movie, then come some of the unforgetable lines uttered by Charlton Heston and others (absolutely priceless!). Seeing Heston in an Austin Powers-like velvet suit with ruffled shirt was the first hint that this was a movie to keep watching. The last normal lady for Heston to hook up with comes stocked with machine gun, afro, and Superfly dialogue. Soon you can't help but put yourself into his situation and wonder what you would do if you were the last normal person on earth with light-sensitive albino zealots coming after you every night. If you are looking for something fun to watch with a hip crowd, or you just want to sit back and enjoy how this movie feels -- GET IT!

Summary: A badly dated sci-fi film.
Review: Heston plays the last man on earth. During the day, he prowls the streets of LA in his Mustang. However, at night he must be back in his upper floor apartment because zombie-mutants come out in the the evening. Both the acting and directing are barely adequate. During the day scenes, you can clearly see other autos and people in the distance (the movie was apparently shot in Los Angeles in the early morning). The make-up and costumes for the zombies are ludicrous. All the actors look glum and dour. I saw this movie when it was initially released and thought is was OK. Unfortunately, it hasn't aged well.

Summary: Timeless
Review: Having seen this film when first released in the early seventies, it became a favorite instantly. I wanted a jeep and a cool jumpsuit. I am happy that nothing is lost on video. While the film may look dated it still holds a genuine quality. The film has everything. I am particular to Heston's one liners. Only thing needed now is the soundtrack.

Summary: An exquisite suspense-ridden, angst-fed, paranoid vision.
Review: The Omega Man is, quite simply, one of the best yet least known films of the 1970's. Better known for its cult standing during the era is Planet of the Apes for its post-apolcalyptic vision, but it is not as adventurous as Omega Man.

One man, alone in an abandoned city - fearsomely solitary - against a small band of fallout-infected freaks, messed up by germ warfare. An excellent soundtrack - part Burt Bacharach, part Bernard Hermann - accompanies amazingly crisp and often hugely innovative photography of LA as a steely-jawed Hestopn cruises the streets in search of "the Nest" until he finds out he is not as alone as he feared!

Many issues are tackled - our fears (and fantasies) of solitude, of others, of darkness, of race... This is Stephen King's The Stand but without all the terrible plodding narrative and flat monochrome aspects! Bit of Hitchcock, bit of Hammer Horror, bit of Terry Gilliam, bit of James Bond, bit of Marion Van Peebles... The Omega Man is a superlative film and deserves second, third and fourth watches... MASSIVE

Summary: Very Well Made Movieomega
Review: The "Omega Man" is one of the best movies that concern the end of the world by a plague. This is a movie worth to buy.

Summary: It's the End Of The World As We Know It!
Review: While this version differs considerably from the story "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson, and the earlier movie version starring Vincent Price, I still found it to be one of the best "End Of the World" movies I have ever seen. The pace and story are timeless (although the references to the year aren't) and the acting by Heston and Zerbe are as good and chilling today as they were when I first saw them. If you haven't seen either version yet, I recommend that you give them a look. For something to compare them with, read the book, also! You might be suprised by what they do to you!

Summary: HESTON IS THE MAN! TERRIFIC, A TRUE CLASSIC!
Review: HESTON IS A TRUE GENIUS. SUSPENSE, THRILLS, CHILLS, AND CLIFF HANGERS LEFT AND RIGHT. THE THOUGHT OF BEING THE ONLY ONE IN A HUGH CITY ALONE. THIS IS A CLASSIC WORK OF ART. MY FAVORITE FILM OF ALL TIME. MUST SEE THIS TO BELIEVE THE TRUE IMAGINATION OF HOLLYWOOD. HESTONS PERFORMANCE MAKES YOU FEEL THAT THIS COULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE FOR REAL. THE PERFORMANCES OF ALL THE ACTORS NOT JUST HESTON. MAKES THIS MOVIE COME TOGETHER. GREAT MOVIE FOR A WEEKEND. THIS IS A KEEPER FOR SURE. YOU REALLY MUST OWN A COPY OF THIS AMAZING TALE OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT, AND ARE WILL TO SURVIVE.
