Summary: Classic Vintage Computing!
Review: This is one of the better retro flicks of the 80's. It's full of 80's symbolism (Tab, daggy clothes, cliche's etc ..) but most of all the "geekyness" associated with early computers. A must see for vintage computer buffs. BTW, Spanish is the MOST commonly spoken language in the WORLD. Hence, it's purely logical to include Spanish subtitles on the DVD.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: No spanish!
Review: Of course, WarGames is great entertainment, and the feature comentary is worth buying the DVD. But for them who wants to have the subtitles in spanish, I do not have them on my DVD. It is in the language option, but on the spanish channel I have french. Dont know is it only because I use it with my Mac Computer.

Summary: One of my favorites of all time
Review: Was slightly disappointed that they didn't do any sort of behind the scenes documentary on the DVD because there were a lot of great special effects in this movie, but otherwise, was glad to see one of my all time faves in DVD.

And heck, they drink Tab!... :-) That's worth 1/2 star right there.

Summary: Great movie with a great message
Review: If your a nerd, (and I mean that as a compliment), you'll love this movie! Love the message it leaves: "The only winning move is not to play."

Summary: How about a nice game of chess?
Review: If you lived in the eighties or are a computer nerd, you'll like this movie. I like this movie for two reasons; the nostalgia and the acting. I grew up around computers and remember going to my dad's workplace in the eighties that had big computers that took up entire rooms, such as the ones in WarGames. As a computer nerd, it brings back memories of the earlier computers.

If you're not a computer nerd, you may not appreciate this movie so much. The movie shows a young Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Friends) as a high school student with a big interest in computers. While trying to connect to a computer company's mainframe, he instead stumbled upon a government computer.

With curiousity as his motivation, he learned everything he could in order to crack the code and gain access. Once he cracks the code, he tinkers around, thinking that he was just playing a game. However, he sparked a DEFCON 2 in NORAD and sent the military scrambling.

He must make the computer learn that there is no winner in war. It also gives viewers a small glimpse of how easy it was to be a hacker back in the day. I gave this three stars because it's not the best movie that i've ever seen. However, it is worth adding to your video collection. The story line is good, the acting is good and offers some nostalgia.

If you're interested in other movies related to computers, check out Pirates of Silicon Valley. In addition, you may want to check out Fire in the Valley: The Making of the Personal Computer.

Summary: Good Movie!!!
Review: If you're interested in computers, then buy this movie on video or DVD. I also like to play games that are not in the computer like Monopoly, Chess, Checkers, stuff like that. My favorite character in this movie is David Lightman played by Matthew Broderick.

Summary: hello joshua
Review: Brodericks only really wonderful film. This film seems somewhat dated but I suppose that's the point. I love the excitement of the film, the mystery of the new world of computers and nuclear war. The story is brilliantly unique and engaging and I love getting involved with the action.

The dvd gives a chance to see this movie as it should be seen with clarity and perfection. DVD brings war games to the 21st century it should be in your collection, if it isn't then don't hesitate, I recommend it greatly!

Summary: The real deal
Review: Yes, the idea of breaking into a computer system of this type would be a far out idea. However this is the way I remeber the first computer systems, way before windows. I give this movie a 5 star two thumbs up, and a spin if you like computer hacking movies you really need to add this one to your stash....

Summary: Can't be beat for 80s nostalgia
Review: WarGames: Kid unknowingly hacks into Government super-computer and plays a "game" of global-thermonuclear war, unwittingly setting the ball rolling towards World War III.

Completely unrealistic, impossible even (why is the Government supercomputer hooked up to the phone line in the first place?).

But, being a member of the "Nintendo Generation", a child of the 80s, I can't help but love this movie. It truly enraptured my imagination as a child, with a kid who could outwit all those silly adults that didn't understand what was going on like he did, not only that but could communicate with this incredibly advanced computer (at least, that's how it seemed back then).

If you didn't grow up with this movie, take it as an enjoyable look back at "the way things used to be", but if you're like me, then this is a must-own movie.

Summary: Outstanding DVD commentary
Review: This really is a must see movie that combines two of the most important cultural events in the eighties, the cold war and computers.

What's I'm really going to review here is not the movie (its great BTW and the DVD transfer is well done) but the commentary by the producer and writers. I was really impressed with this commentary, its non stop information and the only time they pause are a couple of times when they want to let the viewer take in the scene they just finshed setting up or explaining a certain aspect they would like you to take notice of.

The commentary really shows that the writers did their homework for this movie, they really do know their stuff when it comes to computers.
