Summary: An imaginative masterpiece for kids...
Review: This enchanting film is perfect for any young child who dreams about things like dragons, griffins, and other wild things. It's basically the story of a lost boy and the dragon who brefriends him as they travel the New England countryside. The dragon is portrayed as a real life imaginary friend, who is actually trying to help the boy find a home. Loaded with clean but classic, down to earth comedy that kids will enjoy, Pete's Dragon is sure to make the day of any youngster who watches it.

Summary: Pete's Dragon Gold Collection DVD
Review: "Pete's Dragon", is a very good film for children & adults for a couple reasons. First off, for the kids, it sends a message of friendship. Elliot's entire reason of existence in Pete's life was to help him out of trouble from his creul adopted family. For grown-up movie fans, the film offers terrific cinematography, with wonderful scenes that take place near the coast & the small town of Passamaquoaddy. The music is also very notable, it was nominated for an Oscar in 1977 as was the song "Candle in The Water".

The Gold Collection DVD edition, includes a great Donald Duck cartoon, "Lighthouse Keeping", among other features. The best, however, is the featurette "Man, Monsters, & Mysteries" which documents the legend of the Loch Ness Monster. The monster it's self makes an comical appearance, voiced by Sterling Holloway (voice of Winnie the Pooh, Kaa The Snake, and many more Disney characters).

Summary: Brilliant Disney Movie
Review: Pete's Dragon has been my favorite movie ever since I was 6 years old. Even today I still enjoy watching it,even though the dragon is sort of fake. But other than that, the movie is excellent. Sean Marshall was an excellent Pete and Mickey Rooney was an awesome Lampie. My favorite though has to be Jim Dale who played Doctor Therminus. Dale portrayed this diabolical doctor in a superb fashion. At times he seemed like a good guy and then other times he was the bad guy. I enjoyed all the songs in this movie and still sing them today. Overall...EXCELLENT!!!

Summary: A Child's Best Friend Is A Pet Dragon...
Review: ...in Pete's case, the dragon's name happens to be Elliot.
Pete and Elliot are the absolute best of friends and share many adventures together - from their escape from Pete's cruel foster family, the Gogans, to their arrival in the fishing village of Passamaqoddy and an encounter with the eccentric Dr. Terminus who plans to capture and utilize Elliot for his own personal gain.
In the end, however, Pete and Elliot manage to find a happy home living with the kind and caring Nora and her father Lampie in a beautiful, majestic lighthouse.
Highlighted by an all-star cast including: Helen Reddy, Mickey Rooney, Jim Dale, Red Buttons, Shelly Winters, Jim Backus, Jeff Conway, Charlie Callas as the voice of Elliot, and introducing Sean Marshall as Pete; and a soundtrack featuring some of the most wonderful songs ever written, "Pete's Dragon" is a very magical and heartwarming film which can be enjoyed by not only the young, but also the young at heart.

Summary: Still great as an adult!
Review: This was my favorite movie when I was a kid and has only gotten better now that I can appreciate the amazing cinematography it took to actually get this picture made. It's a wonderful story with a predictable ending but even that never spoils the fun! This is a wonder DVD to see as an adult and now to share it and pass it on to the next generation! Enjoy it!

Summary: My 4 yr old son loves it, minor problem with DVD
Review: Another Disney classic. This is the current crown jewel of my 4 year old son's collection. We've seen it 4 times in a week. What is has to recommend it: A excellent storyline, interesting, fast paced scenes, and the songs are catchy and entertaining. Helen Reddy really sounds great. Also, the mini-game, "Where's Elliot" was a pleasant diversion. One less star because we have a minor problem with the DVD. During Helen Reddy's solo "Candle on the Water." the DVD simply stops at the same point every time. We can get it going again by pushing play, but it's annoying. We have a Toshiba SD-1600.

Summary: A must-have for your Disney DVD collection
Review: I loved this movie when I was a kid, and I still love it today, and I'm sure my daughter will love it too. The movie is fun, entertaining for the whole family, and features some of Disney's most endearing "loveable monster" artwork. If you are collecting Disney DVDs, or if you're just looking for a good one, then this movie should be in your collection.

Summary: A MUST For Your Children's Collection
Review: This movie is an absolute must for your children's collection - if you don't have it get it RIGHT NOW. Although I have not seen the DVD, I can tell you that my children started watching this at about age 4. For about a year, they watched it a few times a month. I actually had to buy another copy! This is one that I actually enjoy sitting down and watching with the kids - it is not cloying or silly. My 9 year old son still asks for it often! While not as full of technical wizardry as some, in our house Pete's Dragon ranks right up there with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Sound of Music as a CLASSIC!

Summary: Behind the Scenes for Sean Marshall
Review: Sean Marshall was my nephew by marriage during the time he auditioned and got the Part! His brother Patrick plays with the kids singing in the movie as well. It was very exciting around his home when it was filmed. Scripts arriving late at night for the next day, ... hush hush on the music... etc., etc. Knowing Sean, and hearing all about the filming and stars, I am biased...I love the film and I love Sean..he is a magical young man with the essence to dream and talk to something not there as the dragon was placed in after the fact... This is a must see for adults and children alike!
