Review: I knew before watching this movie, and just by looking at the first short trailer previewed in the Superbowl, that it was gonna be a great movie. Great? I think it's one of the most creative, evolutive, mind-boggling, intense, condensed yet bold Sci-Fi movies of our time, and it truly left me with a satisfaction above the usual great movies I barely get to see. Great movie, excellent plot, stellar performances, and inventive direction by the W' Brothers. The Best Sci-Fi movie of 1999 (sorry, Episode One), and truly the second best movie of the whole year behind American Beauty. If you haven't seen it, then you can call yourself an "ignorant movie fan". 2 thumbs up is clearly not enough.

Summary: Cool Looking, But Boring
Review: I know hardcore sci-fi fans will probably be upset by this. The Matrix isn't a great movie. It's a cool looking movie with great effects and everything. I found the movie to be very hard and uninteresting to get into. It's not an easy movie to like. Keanu Reeves is his usual bland, wooden self. He doesn't do anything new here. I just think the film could've been a little more entertaining. I know die hard sci-fi fans will hate me for this, but this just isn't interesting enough to get into. Hard to watch.

Review: I know many love this movie, but i don't necessarily like it, although i don't hate it, i mean the action sequence involving Keanu Reeves & Carrie Ann Moss when they enter the simulation to rescue Morphius is really,really impressive, as is many other action sequences, but DID this movie have to have sooooooo many DARK settings, I understand the supposed real world was supposed to be dark, but if our computer-simulated fake real world was a hoax why would it be so dark, definately not the world we live in. i probably would have liked this film better if it showed more of our reality, day to day life that we live in, but it dosen't appear as such, maybe i am missing somthing here, i just think it could have been better, great action, but poor day to day life reality.

Summary: The Modern Sci-Fi Classic
Review: I know my review is a bit late in coming, but for those that have either not seen the movie or have yet to purchase the DVD, let me tell you why you should do both.First of all, the movie is an exceptional feat of special effects, and boasts the most incredible and mesmerizing action sequence I have ever seen in any movie (starting with the infamous lobby scene, which is cool, if not vital to the plot). For the special effects alone you should see this movie. If you are a science fiction fan, the subtle nuances will appeal to you. The film has been passed off as a mere action packed, shoot-'em-up flick, but if you look closely, there are actually a lot of references to religion, nihilism, and the Bible. Another thing that sets this movie apart from others in the science-fiction genre is its unusual premise that we are all living in a dream world controlled by sentient machines. This provides for some thought-provoking conversations between Morpheus and Neo. Now I must warn those who haven't seen the movie that the action you expect doesn't come until almost half of the film has passed, but when it does, it is well worth the wait. The first 45 minutes of the movie familiarizes the audience with the Matrix and introduces the main characters, and there are a couple of strange scenes that will weird out some people (or both). The only reason I did not award this movie 5 stars is because the characters were not developed nearly as much as they could have been. You don't find yourself caring for them as much as you find yourself watching their motions on the screen. After all, it's only a movie, right? But it could have been better if the characters had pulled you further into the dense plot. As for the DVD, I highly recommend it to any DVD collector. The transitions between menus are fantastic and look good, and there are so many special features that it took me no less than an hour to look at them all.
