Summary: Extremely original and frightening
Review: This is one of the most original movies I have ever seen. The Wachowski brothers deserve a pat on the back and the millions they made off of this movie. The plot is incredible and losely follows a biblical tale that everyone knows. That fact alone turned many people away from the movie and that just shows how people judge books by their covers and neglect to look deeper for the truth. The special effects were amazing in this movie, especially the technigue of linking together a bunch of cameras to create the illusion of suspended time but not suspended view. But don't think the special effects steal the show from the actors and plot. Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and the rest of the cast fit their parts perfectly. I am looking forward to the sequals of this movie immensly.

Review: This is one of the top 10 WORST movies I have ever seen. I honestly don't understand what all the fuss is about. It has no plot, horrible acting, and music that makes me want to puke. If you like black pleather, techno, and cinematography remiscent of sony playstation games then this is the movie for you.

Summary: An excellent smorgasbord for the mind
Review: This is one of those movies that apparently inspires either great admiration or disappointment. I must thank the prior reviewers (especially those rating it relatively low) who have helped me place some of the techniques and ideas into perspective. However, I think "The Matrix" is more than a collection of martial arts effects applied to cyberspace - there are significant allusions to the concepts of free will, destiny, and even religious philosophy. As an example, anyone with even a little religious conviction of any kind has to believe, at some level, that this world is impermanent and (to a degree) illusory, kind of like the simulated world of the matrix; yet nihilism is not a way out because what occurs here has "real" consequences (remember Neo's bloody mouth after his first attempt in jumping?). It's not an original idea, but I think the combination of dialogue, effects, and setting along with the "deep" ideas within it make the movie compelling.

Review: This is one of those rare movies which special effects actually made it what it is.It is a very watchable and interesting action adventure,scifi production.Almost constant action will keep one from falling asleep durning it.I was most impressed by the performance of Carrie-Ann Moss whom i could not recall seeing in much of anything before this movie.My favorite scene is at the very beginning where the agent is asking the Police why they disobeyed orders and sent officers in to get her before they arrived.The police officer said "I think my men can handle one little girl" and the agent replied "your men are already dead".I am not usually overly impressed with alot of the special effects used in movies today because they detract from the actors and the overall production value.However i am going to make an exception in this case.I was so impressed i am ordering the directors cut ,widescreen version.

Review: This is one terrible movie. I forced myself to sit until the end just in case something happened, but it was painful and it was fruitless. Loaded with style, but beyond that only a dull, half-thought-out storyline and boring special effects. I met one aficionado of leather who liked the film, but otherwise don't waste your time.
