Summary: A disappointing portrayal of Anne Rices gripping novel.
Review: I went into the showing of this film with the best of intentions, and was sadly disappointed at the way the story was all based around Louis and Claudias immortal lives with Lestat, rather than showing the beginning of Lestats immortality and his life in detail before he hooked up with the other two.

They didn't mention any of the vampires that made Lestat, and they picked the wrong people to portray these characters. I don't think that Tom Cruise is able to show in the film that Lestat is a truly beautiful creature that is tormented by and endeavours to appreciate his fate.

Depicting Armand as a dark and deviant being was also, in my opinion a great injustice to the book. If the casting people had taken the time to read the book and the other vampire novels, they would see that The Vampire Armand was meant to have the face of an angel with amber hair, and be just a boy. He was only 17ish when made by Marius, another fact that is not even touched on.

It offers nothing of Akasha and Enkil (those who must be kept) and in mysole opinion, should be considered a dismal making of a fantastic novel. Any fan of the 'Vampire Series' would be disappointed, but any young movie goer who knows nothing of this series should enjoy this mediocre telling of an amazing story.

Summary: Real Vampires
Review: If people could be turned into vampires, this is how it would be. Anne Rice is an amazing writer, and even with the parts in the book that didn't show up in the movie, the movie is excellent!

Summary: Excellent
Review: This movie is excellent it's one of my most favorite movies of all time. Brad Pitt and TOM CRUISE were superb! But I read the book and the book made alot more sense, but this is the first movie that is very close and does justice to the book. If you haven't read the book, you are missing out on alot. But I love this movie 4-ever, I just wished they didn't make Lestat such a tirant. PLEASE MAKE THE NEXT MOVIE, The Vampire Lestat!

Summary: Have you had your daily dose?
Review: I love this movie so much!!! I have watched it at least once a day ever sence I bought it, which was 6 months ago!! It's such a wonderful movie! The only thing should say is that, if Neil Jordan would have gone more by Anne Rice's book, the movie would have been MUCH better. The book was 5 times as good as the movie, but the movie was VERY GOOD. Don't let this one go by!!!

Summary: It was great...till I read the book!
Review: This movie is still on my top 10 list of favorite vampire movies, but it pales in comparison to the book. Once I read the book, too many things didn't make sense. Why did the director take so many liberties? What's wrong with making a longer movie? This isn't a bad movie, but I beg of all of you - PLEASE read the book! And get someone else to play Lestat if you do any more of the books.

Review: What pretty, frilly clothes on Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise!! Not to mention Antonio Banderes, who is incomprehensible, but at least he looks great, right ladies?

Summary: BEAUTIFUL
Review: I have read all of the vampire books and the potrail of Lestat,Cladia and Louis was exsactly how I pictured it, and I loved how the director got right in to the mood of the story.

Summary: A must have for all DVD owners!!!
Review: Not only is this one of the best vampire movies ever made, but the DVD version is excellent. The amazingly clear version allows the viewer to enjoy this movie as if they were in the theater. Don't rent this one, BUY IT!!!

Summary: amazingly well-done
Review: Although some people may think that this was slow and boring, I believe that it is one of the best movies that I have seen that is made from a book. As a devoted fan to Anne Rice, I was doubtful about the movie at first. However, I was impressed when I saw it. The actors brought the viewer straight into the plot, and it held me all the way through. Althought the movie was good, I advise you to read the book, there is so much more in it then can be seen in a film.

Summary: finally,the way vampires ARRRREEEE!!!
Review: i am a rabid fan of anne's earlier work such as this was. and i too was horrified when tom cruise stepped into this role. the truth be known, yes, lestat is cocky, very cocky and so have been just about all of the characters that tom cruise has played (with the exception of "born on the 4th...) - so b/c of the fact that he played the leading role, and did not look truly like the lestat in the book (during production he even supposesed complained about how short he looked next to brad (who, by the way was sexy as ever as louis but brad could play a large, smelly pile of....well, you know and make it look sexy too!!!) the movie really stuck to the book - it had a few "hollywood" moments in it but it stayed with the book better than i could ever imagine. vampires do not just show their teeth as if they are "roaring" like so many vampire movies portray vampires and there were a few very unfortunate moments when this happened here. but mostly, cruise should not have taken the role. i believe anne said once that she had envisioned rutger hauer as lestat, but he was too old by the time the book became a movie. now THAT would have been lestat!!!!!
