Summary: 3 simple words - DO NOT BUY
Review: I am still seething having bought what I believed to be the ultimate Highlander experience. Not only is the quality of the picture grainier than a bowl of cornflakes but the THX "experience" is, bar none, the WORST soundtrack I have ever heard. In short DO NOT buy this dvd - maybe some day people like Mr. Aaron Spelling will realise that consumers are not the slack-jawed yokels he believes us to be.

What a complete waste of time and money (my money that is). Mr. Lambert, Mr. Connery and co. are rolling over in their respective graves - figuratively speaking of course!!

I tried posting this review with a 0 star rating but was unable to - needless to say the 1 star I had to give is 1 star too many.

Summary: FANTASTIC!!!!
Review: I LOVED IT!! Highlander is without a doubt one of the best movies made in the last fifty years. The acting is fantastic, the cinematography is great, the sword work is terrific. Connery is great as Ramierez. Lambert is the only one who could be Connor MacLeod. Highlander really gives a person a sense of good and evil, right and wrong.

Summary: interesting, but dated
Review: I just saw this movie for the first time ever tonight. It's ineteresting but dated. You can really tell the movie was made in the 1980's - - not to mention, they say 1985 several times in the movie. Why does the Egyptian have a scottish accent, while the Scotsman doesn't? It's just a question. Where did Christepher Lambert get his accent in the first place? It's a nice accent, but I don't recognize it. Anyway, I can tell why it aquired so many fans. It's an interesting movie with an underdeveloped premis. Or maybe it's over developed. It's a good movie.

Summary: Didn't know DVD quality could be THAT bad!
Review: While I still enjoyed the great storry, the experience was pretty much ruined by the abysmal quality of the DVD transfer; The picture is grainy, the sound is blurred. In short: if you want to own this film, get it on VHS.

Summary: Very Good
Review: I loved the movie, but the first time you see it you have to pay attention or you'll be lost. I thought the concept of immortallity was really creative. But What I really liked was that they didn't protray it as all peaches and cream. Immortals do have problems and do have to worry about getting killed contrary to popular belief. I thought the characters were great. The Kurgan was protraryed wonderfully and Ramirez was hysterical. Chirstopher Lambert did a terrific job of portraying Conner. The special effects and annimation was done really well and the romance added the perfect touch. In my opinion this movie had it all.

Summary: I Got The DVD
Review: THX?.....I have a copy of a few DVD's that are THX quality. Alien (box set), T2, but this is the worst DVD transfer i have ever seen. It not 16x9, but i knew that when i bought it. The sound is good in some areas and worst in others, the picture is about the same you can even count the dots on the film in areas if you wish....bottom line buy it if you have to.

Summary: Confusing and Overrated
Review: I am a fan of the Highlander:The Series t.v. show. So,I thought this movie would interest me.However,I found the plotline confusing and the camera work horrible.I hated the bad guy because the scenes he was in were pictured so confusingly that I became extremly irritated.I also think that the acting on the part of Christopher Lambert could have used a lot more work.To me,this film conplicates things for the series. If you want to see Highlander at its' best, watch the t.v. show.

Summary: cheese at its best !!!
Review: i use to love this movie...but seeing it for the first time in about 7 years, i realized how cheesey it is. don't get me wrong, it's a very nice story, but this movie could have been much better. the world war 2 scene added in the director's cut is absurd (kind of like a bad 1970's action movie) the plus side to this movie is the photography work. the transitions from past to future are very creatively done. and so on. this is probably the best bad movie i have ever seen. the dvd seems fine though. the sound was a bit questionable in places, but the picture quality is top-knotch.

Summary: 5-star story, 1-star sound
Review: "Highlander" is one of the great movies. I saw it *twice* in the theater when it came out. It has people to love, a fight worth winning, and a truly despicable villain. Michael Kamen's score, embellished by Queen's songs, has long been one of my all-time favorite soundtracks. The additional footage in this director's cut finally explained to me the origin of the catch-phrase "It's a kind of magic," which has puzzled me for years.

The bad news is the soundtrack on this album. In the original theatrical release, every word of dialogue came through crisply and clearly. Here, portions of dialogue come through as barely comprehensible mumbles. Furthermore, the sound level varies all over the map, and, especially in the latter half of the movie, I found myself endlessly fiddling with the volume as one scene would be almost inaudible and the next scene, played at that same volume, would assault my eardrums with deadly force.

*This* is one DVD that *won't* be replacing my prized non-Director's Cut VHS copy of the movie. At least with *that* one I can enjoy the soundtrack - all of it.
