Summary: Why Doesn't Warner Bros Get It?
Review: They did not do the sound track on the first Matrix in DTS 5.1 sound and it is weak! Now they are going to do the same thing again with the sequal. All of the money spent on sound for the movie but yet when it goes to DVD they will not invest in DTS. The sound should always be neck and neck with the picture quality. It is sad.

Summary: Better Than the First. Seriously.
Review: How can anyone say this movie wasn't as good, or even better, than the first? This movie had a) less plotholes, which were abound in the first movie (how exactly did Neo even know to ask "What is the Matrix?") and b) more twists. Yes, you can't get a twist bigger than the "real" world being a creation of robots, but the first movie ran with that one giant twist throughout the whole movie. Here, there were quite a few more twists. And yes, it does have a lot more talking than the first one, but as another reviewer said, you might just have fragile little attention spans. This actually showed the HUMAN side of the characters, rather than just Neo trying to figure out what was real and what wasn't like in the first movie.

My only complaint are the special effects. The first movie's effects were revolutionary. The second's were... kind of shoddy at times. They tried to do too much when apparently our own technology still isn't good enough. Go figure. But the better STORY outweighs the fact that Morpheus looks fake on a semi.

Summary: Deeper Understanding of the Matrix World
Review: I loved this movie! Yes, it was "more of the same," but that is what sequels are about. I loved how it expanded on the characters--you learned who was who and more about them, their hopes and beliefs.

The footage of Zion gave you a deeper understanding of the people at this time--their fears, how they cope, how they live, what their reality is. Keanu's stunt at the end--when they were in the real world but he still stopped the bullets somehow--was fantastic!

I can't wait to find out what happens next. I'm really glad they're releasing the sequel in a few months--the suspense is killing me! :)

Summary: Great Movie
Review: The Matrix: Reloaded is the beginning of a 5 1/2 hour movie(the other 2 1/2 hours is going to be The Matrix: Revolutions) and it does not disappoint. Some people say that most of the film's scenes have no importance or purpose, but those people do not have the foresight to realize that every scene in the The Matrix: Reloaded will have a huge impact on The Matrix: Revolutions. After you people see Revolutions, you will regret that you disliked this movie and you will rush to the store to buy Reloaded and put the pieces together. I promise you.

Summary: Matrix Reloaded is better than the first movie
Review: A lot of people have been saying that the Matrix Reloaded was a bad movie and ruined the Matrix series. I think that the Matrix Reloaded is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I liked it more than the first movie. I saw this movie twice in the theaters, and i was amazed both times. This movie had mind blowing action scenes and a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Yes the orgy scene in the beggening of the movie was mest up, but overall this movie was great. I don't understand how people say this movie has no story line at all when their are so many twists and turns in the storyline. It also leaves you with a cliff hanging of an ending that guarentees a great third matrix movie. Everyone, not only matrix fans should own this movie!!!

Summary: A decent sequel, but the first one owns it.
Review: This movie was pretty cool, but I had higher expectations than the film delivered. I would have given the film 3.5 stars if the rating were avalible, but I decided to leave it at 3 rather than rounding up. My largest complaint would have to be the whole Zion Orgy/Sex Scene. What was this doing in here? It served no purpose other than to secure an R rating, and it was so dragged out that it cut into the the pacing of an already slow to start film. So basically, I don't see why it was in there to begin with. In the theater, I used the time the scene gave me to refill my popcorn. With the DVD, thankfully I can click the "next chapter" button. Much like the Enter the Matrix videogame wich launched similtaniousely, the movie has enough good points to justify putting up with the dissapointments, but it still fails to live up to the hype miserably (okay, "Miserably" is way to harsh a word to describe either of them, but it's all I can think of that sounds good). I still enjoyed the film quite a bit, but I think the Wachowski brothers got a bit too cocky from their sucsess with the first film, much like Rowland Emmeric and Dean Devlin with the steller Independence Day and the fun, but flawed Godzilla remake. A director's cut treatment with this DVD could have done marvels, provided that they trimmed out all the un-desirable material (read: ZION ORGY/SEX SCENE, amongst others) and improved the pacing, but it looks like the Wachowskis don't want to alter their "masterpiece" at all. But hey, we still get a second disc loaded with goodies, and if you really hate the film that much, you can always just watch the action scenes.

Summary: Pales in comparison to the original
Review: I've never seen a more overrated movie in a long time. This is a terrible attempt at a Matrix sequel (the original draft of the screenplay was much better.) It's two and half hours of pure garbage, without a plot, without any good acting, and with gratuitous action scenes to keep you awake in between the pseudo-philosophy.

The worst scene in the movie involves Neo fighting against thousands of Agent Smiths. I'm sure you've seen this in the dozens of trailers. He fights them for five minutes or so, knocking them down and tossing them into the air as opposed to actually killing any of them. The scene, action-wise, is very fun to watch. Dramatically, though, this scene is absolutely pointless. Not only is there nothing at stake during the entire battle, but Neo shows no emotion during the entire fight. Fear? Anger? Wanting to settle an old grudge? He hardly even says anything! You're facing an old opponent, Neo, one who killed you before, and you don't care at all? Perhaps it's because you're convinced they're not real. The CG is pretty damn recognizable, after all. All 999 Agent Smiths look plastic as hell, despite the Wachowski's efforts.

Neo, supposedly "The One", really only has one new ability. That ability is to fly. He seems to have lost the ability to move at superhuman speed (the first ability he ever had in the first movie). He seems wholly unable to fly when it would make sense (the Smith battle again) and chooses to fight anyone who comes his way. He seems to have the ability to stop bullets and summon weapons from a nearby wall as if he has telekinesis, yet human opponents still are a threat to him, and he'll spend quite a bit of time fighting them. For some reason, throwing weapons at them, or disarming them, or jumping inside of their bodies and splitting them apart never occurs to him.

The best action scene in the movie was the car chase (despite the fact it is not the best char chase -- as the Wachowski's claimed). Here was the most emotional fight, and the funnest one to watch -- and something was actually at stake here. Maybe it's because Neo isn't fighting here. We actually feel that the characters are capable of losing. It was one of the few scenes that were worth watching.

All the characters speak their lines without any emotion. It seems to be a lame attempt to appear "cool" in the tradition of the original Matrix. However, it makes the film that much more boring. By far, the greatest character is Agent Smith himself. This computer program has more personality than any of the humans in the entire film.

And what happened to the settings? The original took place in dusty hotels and city streets, the showdown taking place in the subway. The Matrix Reloaded takes place in large chateaus and power plants? It lost all traces of noir...

If you're confused thanks to the plot, don't worry, at the end of the movie, Neo will confront a guy who will explain the convoluted plot to you. At the same time, he speaks so fast and uses so many big words, you really don't know what he's talking about. Oops. Better see the movie again. Or not.

The Wachowski brothers were smart though. They left us with a cliffhanger, because they knew otherwise we might not be inclined to see the next one.

The original Matrix will always be the best Matrix movie, and one of the greatest movies of our time. Matrix Reloaded pales in comparison.

Summary: Don't expect the impossible
Review: I am one of the few people I know who actually thought The Matrix Reloaded was a great movie. The action is mind blowing the story though slow at times answered questions left by the first movie, and the overall feel of the movie was simply electric.

The key to enjoying this movie is to forget about the first movie's insane special effects and rave reviews. Because although this movie has the best action sequences I've ever seen they aren't that much more insane than the first movie's action sequences. I think the reason so many people were disappointed with this movie is simply because they were expecting the impossible which is a sequal that has action scenes exponentially better than the first movie, plus a plot that is as fresh and innovative as the first movie. Look the first movie introduced a whole new way of filming an action movie, you can't expect the sequal to be just as fresh it's just not possible!

Bottomline is in my opinion this movie is just as good if not better than the first one and though many may say otherwise it is still an awsome movie that is ten times better than any other action movie out there. Don't give this movie the cold shoulder just because of the reputation it's prequal has.

Summary: Some continued brilliance, some stupidity
Review: I give The Matrix Reloaded four stars for brilliant special effects, great characters and a good storyline, even though some of the mystery was taken away. The Wachowski brothers must have done some serious brainstorming to figure out how to top The Matrix. They didn't top it, but they delivered a satisfactory sequel.
Unlike a lot of other reviewers here, I loved the fight scenes, even the long skirmish between Neo and Agent Smith. They kept upping the ante, testing each other's limits. They don't seem to have found any yet, but they have a measure of each other. It gives us a good foretaste of their own personal armageddon.
The biggest problems for me were the scenes of Zion. It was partly what I imagined, and then a whole lot of what I didn't imagine. Aside from taking away the mystery of the last refuge of humanity, the Wachowskis added some quite ludicrous scenes to the mythology. The pointed effort to make Zion a PC melting pot was one of them. Do Neo, Morpheus, etc. go out of their way to free a representative number of races???
The other unnecessary thing in the Zion scenes was the religious service. Granted, there already was a philosophical/religious theme in the Matrix that contributed to its appeal, but the orgy-like dance party was just silly. It looked like an ecstasy-fueled rave, or an ancient pagan worship rite. Like a fellow viewer commented, it made me feel these are not people worth saving, let the machines have 'em!
Fortunately, the directors redeemed the rest of the movie with continuing good action, some great new characters (the programs, not the humans) and further mind-blowing revelations in the dialogue with the Architect. Looking forward to a smashing finish.

Summary: Unfortunately Disappointing
Review: I am a huge fan, I saw the Matrix 3 times in the movies and bought the DVD the day it came out. I have been waiting 3 years for the sequel as many of you have. Here is the sad fact: If this was the first movie, there would be no sequel. The only reason for this movie is so that the studio can make this a Trilogy (so we can buy a boxed set), it is a franchise just like a Disney movie, complete with action figures and video games. I hope part 3 ties this all together but my expectations are low. I think the W brothers are great but this movie was 2.5 hours without any memorable dialogue and ridiculous psychobabble as the script. This is not a "well its just not as good as the original", this is a matter of; it is simply not that good a movie, great action, great cinematography but bad dialogue and plot, that we hope ties together in part 3. Yes it made $280 million dollars, I wish I could much better things about it but I am highly dissappointed.
