Summary: Better than the original Bad Boys
Review: Leaving reality behind the DEA and Miami PD own houses and cars as big and grand as the drug dealing kingpins. WTF? Like a true rendition of police corruption and politics gone wrong a single clubber dies of an ecstasy overdose in some crazy nightclub with supermodels dancing around place (where can I find these places?) and this gives our law enforcement enough reason to shoot up over hundred gang members, the Cuban army, blow up over ten million dollars worth of public property and put citizens in a square mile radius of the duos antics in serious jeopardy. BBII is the drug WAR in full swing. Watch your tax money at work ---- YEEEE HAAAAAAWWWW.The premise is cornflakes box freebie simple. Drug cartel owner is dealing drugs. The duo blow up lots of things along the way while trying to capture him. Cue various set pieces where Smith and Laurence come up with some witty one-liners, laughs that work and some that do not. All round it is good to see Smith back doing what he does best in MIB mode. BBII offers some nice camera tricks and a few car chase sequences that are quite well done although contrary to some popular review columns are not half as good as the one in Matrix: Reloaded. So why does this movie get compared to the Matrix? Well there is a ton of SFX in with the action sequences and many of the death scenes are plastered with CGI. When bodies go pop, they go SPLATTER! BBII has its fair share of gore... and rats doing things they should not do - but you have to see it to know what I mean. BBII is essentially THE ROCK with a way less brains. It's better than BBI but that does not say much. It's pure pop-corn fodder with a big budget. The scene with the boyfriend coming over to pick up Laurence's daughter is utterly hilarious and the best part of the film. The second half of the movie has a way more action than the first which seems a little overlong in parts. BBII has a running time of over two hours and will test your patients at times but when the action comes, it's like a tidal wave. Good action movie but still average hokum. It is worth watching but is easily just as forgettable. Watch out for the cameo of the director Michael Bay who is the driver in the car before Dan Marino shows up --- yeah, Dan is in it. The movie is a bit like that. Yo' all ged'n da pit-ture here?

Review: I was a Bad Boys fan. But after this, no longer. The original 1995 flick was no masterpiece, but it was a fun, enjoyable movie with great action scenes and an excellent rapport between the two lead stars. Where does Bad Boys II go horribly wrong you say? Well, Director Michael Bay has stuck to the original formula (lots of shootouts, crass jokes, lots of attitude etc). So what's the problem? Key word: OVERDONE. Michael Bay's movies are focused on action with little emphasis on the plot. I understand that, but this is going too far. Now keep in mind, I WAS a Bad Boys fan, and I adore Will Smith. So it pains me to see him cast in such a horrible flick. Okay, so let's get to it. The violence; it's over the top, its crass and its not enjoyable. This isn't Lethal Weapon violence, where yes, its a bit over the top, but it's still enjoyable. This is violence which is meaningless & depraved. Ten minutes into the movie & you start to get bored. The shootouts really don't have much of a meaning, and the audience is just moved along from one scene to the next without any semblence of a plot. The director uses Matrix style slow motion and camera angles to depict bullet penetrations and the like, but at least in the Matrix it had a meaning, unlike in this movie. The rapport, or LACK of it is another gripe I have with this movie. Remember Bad Boys? A lot of laughs were generated by the constant banter between Smith and Lawrence. Don't expect anything like that here. The jokes are just old, plain and NOT funny. In fact, I don't remember actually having laughed at any point in the movie. Oh, and on the topic of character development, there is none. Yes; zilch, nada, zero. This feels like some violent MTV video rather than a movie. Remember how in the first one we all laughed at Lawrence's family problems (his wife, his kids etc); well don't expect anything here. There's no focus on the characters. In fact, don't expect any laughs. Period. That goes with the humour of this movie as well, which is non-existent and crass. There's a scene in which Smith and Lawrence bully his (Lawrence) daughter's date who is 15 years old. They mercilessly tease him and intimidate him with a gun and threats. I don't know if it this was meant to be funny, but I found it rather stupid and cruel. Another issue is with the length of the movie. It's 144 minutes (you're lucky if you can sit through 30mins of this), and at the end of it you're left feeling mentally delinquent with the never ending barrage of nonsensical violence. Oh, and I forgot, the language. These guys say the F-word so many times that at the end of the movie I don't think you'll feel like saying it for a while, a LONG while. Hell, even a 70yr old grandmother says it! There's also no tension whatsoever, so if you're looking for a surprise or a good ending, keep dreaming, because everything is so stupid and obvious. Really, I don't know how these guys even released this movie. I didn't bother to watch it at the cinemas because of all the negative reviews it got. After watching it on DVD, I'm glad I didnt waste my $10. If you are (soon to be 'were') a Bad Boys fan, you'll probably end up watching this like I did, just to see what all the negative hype is about. To the topic of my review title, well, I suggest you read the Amazon.com review. The guy who's reviewed is obviously trying to restrain himself as much as possible from giving this movie a negative rating. I don't think I can see any positive aspect of this movie in his review. I'm just saying here what has needed to be said all along. I'm 20 years old and I love shoot-em-up movies, gangster movies, and violent flicks. But I also have a brain. If someone my age with my movie preferences found this bad, you can only imagine how someone else in a difference category would feel. Before you make any comments, ask yourself this. Did you actually enjoy this movie? I mean seriously? After watching this, I am one very disappointed Bad Boys fan (hoping to see a successful franchise). I can only hope that if there is a Bad Boys III (highly unlikely), Michael Bay doesn't direct it.

Review: The movie Bad Boys 2 is a great movie. This movie made lots of money because of the action. The action of the movie was very good because there wre many shooting,and killing scenes and the audience likes that kinda stuff.Entertainment was another reason that the movie was great.There were some parts of the movie that were funny and thats good because too much action gets boring. Also this movie was grat overall, but it did have some problems.Like one problem is that the movie was too long.It needed to have more shooting scenes.Another problem was that it get annoying when they finsh a problem and another come up,but overall the movie was great because of it's action and entermennt.

Summary: Bad Boys II. DVD Review
Review: In my original review of this by-the-numbers sequel to the 1995 buddy cop action favorite, I was a bit critical of it and outlined my dissapointment as best I could at the time. I enjoyed the film but there were a number of things missing from it that I couldn't put my finger on and its inability to meet the heavy expectations that I had set for it was just one of the problems. With its DVD release, I am able to go back and examine what exactly it is that keeps this from touching the original. I think my biggest problem with "Bad Boys II" was the fact that I was expecting it to be more of a "sequel to Bad Boys" instead of the "new Michael Bay movie". If you're looking for the latter, I guess you will be pleased. The movie is trademark Bay all the way. Lots of fancy camera techniques, stunts that push the envelope further than ever before, and all the general flashiness you would associate with his work. This film's only real connection to the first film is having Lawrence and Smith return as the buddy cop team of Bernett and Lowry. Extended cameo appearances by Joe Pantolino and Theresa Randle don't do much to help establish this film as a sequel. Aside from its Miami setting and a couple of familiar moments, this really never looks or feels like its predecessor. The addition of Gabrielle Union as Bernett's undercover D.E.A. agent sister who is secretly dating charismatic ladies' man Lowry is more than just a bit much. The biggest complaint that many critics had with "Bad Boys II" is that it is far too long. I would tend to agree. Clocking in at over two hours and thirty minutes, the movie is like two films within one. This wouldn't be such a problem if the second half's sequences didn't more or less rehash stuff we had already seen in the first half. Not to mention that close to two hours of film is dedicated to the action with a little bit more than thirty minutes dedicated to the actual story. Well, story, might not be the right word, as the film's non-violent moments could be summed up in about two or three sentences. The movie is filled with fun moments like an explosive KKK convention raid and a jaw-dropping car chase to end all car chases on the Miami Freeway but Bay gets greedy. Following the buddy pair as they install a wire in the drug czar's house and tacking on an extra less-exciting car chase just for the added visual grossout gag of watching cars run over dead bodies really slows the film down and gives it a repetetive feeling. Once the duo finally track down the villian and it seems like we're in the third act, we get thrown into another superbly ridicilous plot twist as he kidnaps Union and heads to his hideout in Cuba. Despite a warning by the government that an attempted rescue would be breaking all sorts of international treaties, half of the Miami police force still takes the rest of the week off to track the bad guys down for the big 45-minute conclusion. "Bad Boys II" is not an awful film though its presentation is questionable. The movie could certainly have cut about half of its preposed action sequences and thrown in a few more character moments. The decision to not include any of Mark Mancina's classic musical numbers from the first film, most noteably the original theme, sort of takes a lot away from the familiar atmosphere. The best way to sum up this entertaining but dissapointing sequel would be to say that it is aimed more towards the Michael Bay audience then the "Bad Boys" crowd. This DVD has some pretty good features including detailed featurettes on all of the many steps into the making of this movie and a collection of deleted sequences. There is no director's commentary though is there any person on this planet who would really wanna hear nasal-voiced Michael Bay go on and on for close to three hours? I didn't think so. Also curiously absent is the music video for the soundtrack's hit single, "Shake Ya Tail Feather". I wasn't a fan so to me, it's not much of a loss. When all is said and done, if you liked the movie, you should be impressed with the DVD.

Summary: It was alright....
Review: Overall, it was a good movie, but it wasn't great. Bad Boys 1 was better in my opinion because it has an original concept. In BB2, Will Smith acted too cocky but some funny events occured in it also. Martin Lawrence bought a pool just to have it break on him...twice! The ending to BB2 was too much like the previous one. There was alot of unnessecary explosions that wouldn't really happen. Lots of funny stuff in it and had more than enough action. Honestly, I wouldn't watch it again but it was a good movie none the less.

Summary: What Cha' Gonna Do?
Review: The first Bad Boys film is your typical cop buddy pic. It is only the give and take of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence that elevate the movie beyond a Lethal Weapon rehash. The initial success of the original gaurenteed a sequel. But an imediate sequel was long delayed for several reasons, chief among them, the rising of megastar Smith and Lawrence's personal troubles. After more then a decade between installments, Bad Boys II, is here. Narcotics detectives Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) are now members of a high-tech task force investigating the flow of designer ecstasy into Miami. This leads them to a conspiracy involving a vicious Kingpin (Jordi Molla), whose ambitions have started a turf war bloodbath. Mike and Marcus' working relationship is threatened when Mike develops feelings for Marcus' sister Syd (Gabbrielle Union). Unless the duo can put their personal issues aside, for the good of the case, Syd's life will be put in danger. Basically a retread of the first film, returning director Michael Bay doesn't really mess with the formula. The action is a bit more intense, the stunts are more elaborate, and the explosions are louder. Writers Ron Shelton and Jerry Stahl rearrange a few of the pieces for the story structure--but the puzzle is the same as film number one. The interplay of Smith and Lawrence is there of course, but the cadence can seem off center and forced at times. That hurts the film a little but let's be honest, the movie doesn't try to be anything beyond what it is. The 2 disc DVD set is loaded with extras. I have to say though, that most of it seems-uninteresting, I would have much rather had a an audio commentary from Bay, as he did on film number one. Disc Two: There are seven deleted that don't really offer much and were wisely cut. You also get featurettes on the film's stunts and visual effects. The six sequence breakdowns, including on-the-set footage, storyboards, and scripts is the most well realized extra. Which, in the long run, makes the Jerry Bruckheimer DVD staple production diary's 19 parts a bit excessive. Rounding out the second disc's bonus material is the usual theatrical trailer and a Jay-Z music video, for the song "La-La-La" from the film soundtrack. The Bad Boys sequel will leave you with a feeling of deja vu and I can only marginally recommend it

Review: Amazingly violent wham-bam, black buddy cop comedy-thriller which is heavy on action and gory shootouts and somewhat light on comedy. But that rather depends on your response to Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
Lawrence is one of the least attractive performers around and his sub-Richard Pryor/Eddie Murphy routine is getting very old. Smith, however, remains reliable and more or less saves the day.
The Plot? Oh, it's something to do with designer ecstasy and a major drugs war in downtown Miami in which the two narcotics detectives become more than usually involved when one of them falls for his partner's sister. Their personal relationship stretched to the limit creates danger for them in the face of massive mob action. A Jerry Bruckheimer movie 'Nuff said.

Review: Please spare yourself the time and money on this nonsense. Not worthy to call itself a sequel to a much better and funnier original. It groans, struggles to make a joke. Yes the actions sequences are OK, but the plot is nonsense. THey must be enjoying their salary for this grotesque waste of 35 mm film.

Review: If you like Brittany Spears, the 80's rock band Poison, and "Stargate SG-I" then this movie is up your alley. If you like entertainment that doesn't pander to its audience and is above a 7th grade level (like a Stanley Kubrick or Ang Lee film), then this movie is not for you. I wish I was 12 again, because maybe I could have moderately liked it....

Summary: Way too much cursing! Still pretty good, though.
Review: It's your typical drug lord, good guy cops movie with lots of gore, cursing and relationship issues between 2 cop partners. Overall, it's done very well. Great camera work and amazing action. I just have one question...do negro cops really talk that way to each other? After watching this movie, I feel like talking like a sailor now! "F" this and "F" that. That's how this movie filled 2 hours and 20 minutes of dialog, really it's nothing more than verbal garbage. It's getting old Hollywood. Cursing is not hip anymore. It shows ignorance and it's definately on its way OUT. Is anyone in Hollywood paying attention?
