Summary: Why they have film editors
Review: Simply said, this was a great film without the extra 17 mins. They PAY film editors because they are experts in creating flow and consistency in a film. When a director comes back and adds 17 mins to create a special edition, with only a few exceptions, he creates a work which is FAR INFERIOR to the original. The 17 extra mins added to this film are aboslute film killers. They destroy the flow of the film in general, and a few sceens with only one or two simple lines added turn a dramatic PUNCH onto a wet noodle. I was incredibly disappointed, where can I get a DVD version of the ORIGINAL theactrical release?

Review: The last time we had seen Ripley,played by Sigourney Weaver,she was a member of a crew returning to Earth that had been savagely slaughtered by a bloodthirsty alien that stalked the victims in The Nostromo,a space vessel which was headed back to Earth.She became the only survivor and had since then,spent 57 years in deep animated sleep.57 years later,she awakens.Ripley who is now more aware of how these creatures are finds out that the planet were the creature from the first "Alien" came from is now inhabited by humans.Now,Ripley and a team of marines travel to that planet where they find out that humanity hs almost been wiped out due to the creatures.Ripley must now face the creatures in a showdown that would probably make sci-fi action fans appreciate that they are watching a film that is worth being called One of the best action films ever made."Sigourney Weaver teams up with director James Cameron who lets the viewers really have what they want.Packed with explosive special effects and action scenes that will make the screen explode,Aliens is too much not to be remembered.A true sci-fi classic.

Summary: Aliens DVD
Review: Aliens is one of the three best sequels ever made, behind only Empire Strikes Back and Terminator 2: Judgement Day in my opinion. The audio and video quality of this DVD edition are superb.This DVD is packed full of extras, including a theatrical trailer, interview with director James Cameron, and over 20 minutes of additional footage that help add depth to the story (including a motion-sensing gun sequence that I can remember seing somewhere before). This DVD is a must for Sci-Fi/Action Adventure fans.

Review: This probably will stay the 80s best sci-fi movie along with The Terminator and The Abyss.My most favourite sceen is when the team is in the ALIEN lair,and that they don't know where to shoot and they get killed and only 3 get out.Why didn't they make ALIEN 3 like that-It doesn't get to me.

Review: After 1979's bone-chilling, gut-wrenching, terrifying film Alien comes the impressive (and quite possibly superior) sequel Aliens. The story is that Ripley (Sigourney Weaver, whom was nominated for Best Actress) is back on Earth and is asked to come along on a mission to wipe out a group of aliens whom have taken over a colony. After refusals and nightmares, she decides to come along. After the landing and a disastrous and horrifying assault on a colony building which leaves most of the soldiers dead, the remaing soldiers retreat back to the ship. The crew decides to nuke the planet and must get off. Unbeknowst to the crew, there are adult aliens aboard, not to mention a few babies which the company is trying to smuggle back to Earth to use as a military weapon. It is a chilling game of cat-and-mouse aboard the ship with the aliens hunting down the humans including several crowd-pleasing scenes of rapid-fire action. After a last, Ripley, Hudson, and the little girl Newt are the only ones alive on the ship. After the android Bishop fixes the main starship, Ripley, Hudson and Newt are ready to go, except that Newt gets caught by the queen alien. Newt gets rescued, and after they are safely off the planet, they discover the queen alien is aboard, and it kills Bishop and Hudson. It all comes down to a hair-raising climax featuring a spectacular batler between Ripley and the queen. James Horner delivers an ominous score, and the visual effects are amazing. 7 impressive Academy Award nominations, including Weaver as Best Actress, Best Art Direction, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Score. Winner for Sound Effects Editing and Visual Effects over films such as Top Gun, Little Shop of Horrors, Star Trek 4:The Voyage Home, and Poltergeist 2: The Other Side. Marred only by overlength and too much darkness. Overall, a classic horror/ science fiction film. 4 1/2 stars!

Summary: The Best Sci-Fi Horror Ever Made
Review: This is the best sci-fi horror movie ever made. It isn't no where near as dark as the first one and had a great script to back it up. This one had far better special effects then the original but then again it was seven years later. Instead of one alien they create a legion of them over running a city that is now gone cause of them. Segourney Weaver gives an outstanding performance along with Micheal Bein, Bill Paxton and Paul Rieser. The scene where Ripley takes on the Mother Alien is thrilling on the edge of your seat entertainment. James Cameron knew what he was doing to put out a movie like this.

Summary: Great science fiction adventure
Review: Make no mistake, Aliens is no rehash of the formula from the first film, it goes well beyond it and becomes it own science fiction classic. With the return of the only survivor of the first film, Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), is asked to go back to planet that is the home of the dreaded 'Alien' and help rescue a group of 'colonists' who have 'disappeared'. She tags along as an advisor of sorts with a group of interstellar Marines, a bunch of obnoxious and cocky cowboys. However, they soon discover the unfortunate fate of the colonists and find themselves in a nightmare showdown with an army of Aliens that is as suspenseful as anything you will see in movies - Simply awesome. Top notch FX, even in today's Digital saturated world, and great direction by James Cameron makes this film a must purchase. The only complaint I have with this outstanding film is the portrayl of the Marines. Once the confrontation with the Aliens proves to be more than they can handle, they dissolve into a bunch of inept wimps - As if the only thing they had been trained for was to be macho! Regardless of their lack of experience with these creatures, their training would/should have more than compensated. Instead, in some kind neo-feminist twist, they owe their survival to the wit and skill of Ripley - Yeah, right! Anyway, the film is still great and totally worth owning.

Summary: A Special Edition? What's that?
Review: As with Director Cuts, the version we all saw in the movie theatres is not the intended director's vision. Often the director, under pressure from the Studios, deletes scenes to reducing the length of the film, to speed up the action, to provide improved continuity, etc. Most of the time, the cuts are smart moves (the Sixth Sense deleted scenes come to mind), but in this case, (also in Cameron's T2 SE) these cuts did nothing to slow down the plot. Scenes include: Ripley in a hologarden, Meeting Newt's brother and parents, the sentry guns in play and others. Cameron tacks on an additional 17 minutes (only in Dune and The Professional have more minutes been added on..IMO)that provides additional texture (not plotline). Also there is a THX transfer that is magnificent and the anamorphic widescreen is a treat to watch. You know that you are watching a DVD,, rather than VHS. If you are looking for an sci-fi/action movie in the tradition of Predator, Aliens is a superior choice....Rating B+

Summary: The Most Immersive Sci-Fi Experience of All Time!
Review: When it comes to showing you a completely different universe in which anything is possible and acid bleeding creatures jump out of walls, there is none better than James Cameron's "Aliens." The key to its lasting appeal is found in its terrific design. Everything from weaponry to the sets were meticulously crafted in order to take us to the planet LV-426. By doing so we feel like we are participants in this adrenaline pumping flick. It also set the stage for dozens of action movie clones (not to mention two disappointing sequels). It ultimately emerges as one of the greatest "creature features" ever to hit the screen.
