Summary: Pacino's Out of Breath in CIA Yarn
Review: I love Al Pacino. But Al Pacino looks and seems so tired in this movie. I want to see the Classic Pacino of The Godfather, Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon. I'd even settle for the Comeback Pacino of Scent of a Woman, Carlito's Way, Heat, The Devil's Adocate, Donnie Brasco, and The Insider. But in The Recruit, all we get is the Post-Insomnia Pacino who says his lines with such strained physical exertion that you can feel the weight of every word. Pacino's choices of late have been questionable (Anyone catch Simone or People I Know?) so The Recruit is a step in the right direction. The plot and its CIA techno-babble hold its own and Colin Farrell is charasmatic enough to keep things going but the whole time I was waiting for Pacino to make the The Recruit worth my while. That never happened. When the credits finally rolled I felt I had finished watching the film more out of courtesy than genuine interest.

Summary: very good movie
Review: pacino shines in this movie with many twist and turns, that have you in constant guessing.

Summary: Nothing is as it seems
Review: The Recruit is an entertaining adventure/thriller about a young CIA operative. Recruited by Walter Burke, a veteran operative, James Clayton goes to "the farm" and learns the ways of the CIA. The movie follows him through his trials and tribulations and then later when he is put out in the field. His mission involves a fellow student, Layla Moore, who he is obviously attracted to. There are twists and turns at every corner in this exciting movie. The story is well told with enough deception and action for all action fans. As Pacino puts it," Nothing is as it seems."

The cast in this movie is very good. Al Pacino is great as CIA recruiter, Walter Burke. He plays the role perfectly as he always does. The viewer can never really tell if what he is saying is true because of his ambigious delivery. Colin Farrell is pretty good as James Clayton, the promising young CIA recruit. Bridget Moynahan gives a good performance as Layla Moore, the love interest of Clayton and also part of his objective. The DVD is okay at the best. There is a widescreen presentation, interesting documentary about the CIA training program, and four deleted scenes( they're deleted for a reason). The movie is a fast-moving adventure that tries to show the background of the Central Intelligence Agency. There are plenty of twists that should have you guessing until the end. Worth a rent if nothing else.

Summary: The Comedy team of Colin Farrell & Roger Donaldson
Review: The Recruit is what it is. Exactly what you'd expect. I had more fun listening to the commentary than watching the movie. Worth renting the DVD, not buying it. Colin Farrell is so much fun I had to go back and watch Tigerland again. There's a movie where everyone was great.

Summary: YOU JUST PASSED THE ENDURANCE TEST
Review: Al pacino!a lot is expected out of this old-timer....well,"nothing is what it seems to be".The man is desperate for a screen presence.Accepting a role just because he is portrayed to be the king-pin of the movie.Of course his experience shows in the dialogue delivery.Colin does a neat job as the recruit.
The first few frames of the movie seems like a documentry on the "Central Intelligence Agency".Hats-off to the screenplay-the movie does not stall. The part which really brings some satisfaction to the viewing audience is the part where pacino says,"you passed the final test".This is where clayton and the audience is really surprised.Altogether the movie is a launching pad for Colin and one black dot for Al.

Summary: A great movie with a few flaws.
Review: The Recruit is a great movie detailing the aspects of a CIA recruit, who is coached along by Al Pacino, who always says, "Nothing is as it seems." This turns out to be true on several occasions. The movie has so many twists that it almost makes your head spin. The only true downfall of this film is the abrubt end, which leaves you more questions than answers, which is the life of a CIA agent, I suppose. I'll give the director the benefit of the doubt and say its a message he is trying to convey ;). Overall, its a good movie that you should try to see sometime, and if your into the militaristic films, its a nice addition to your collection.

Summary: rent me
Review: In short, Not bad. Nothing intelligent. The chick was hot, Pachino was decent and it was pretty exciting.  Worth a rent, but not a purchase.

Summary: Entertaining, but forgettable
Review: The Recruit is a movie of the CIA and a man James Clayton (Colin Farrell) who is recruited by Walter Burke (Al Pacino). The movie follows James through basic training, while Walter as his mentor, of a kind.

This movie was exactly what it was advertised as being. It is entertaining, perfect for a night when you want to just relax. Do not plan on watching it if you want a deep thought provoking movie. If you try to see too much in the movie, then it looses its only appeal.

However, the reason that it only deserves a three is that it was entirely predictable. A slight twist in the plot would have livened it up a little. I must admit that I would have been disappointed if I had paid to see in in the theaters.

Summary: Almost brilliant
Review: Before going to see this film I was sceptical. I mean, Colin Farrell is nearly as well known for his acting as he is for his looks and lifestyle. I mean the only reason why I was persuaded to watch the film was because a friend of mine wanted to see the "fit Irish guy". But despite my initial doubts, I loved the film. It was excellent... well, almost. The storyline was great, astonishing but believable. It let the viewers into an area of the American government that many people had not imagined or considered in so much depth. It revealed a completely different world; a dark world filled with misconceptions, secrets and, of course, lies. It really did get the viewers attention and managed to capture it for the whole length of the film. I personally didn't expect the film to end in the clever and twisted way it did. Like I said, it was almost perfect. But there was one flaw. The whole scheme of the film was very quickly revealed and the actual exposure of the plot needed to be explained. I left, feeling unsure of who was who and what each character's genuine storyline was. I turned to my friend seeking an explanation and I was surprised when she was as baffled as I was. After thinking about it, I thought I had an idea of what had happened but was still unconvinced. All in all, it was a very good film...if I only I had understood the last crucial ten minutes. Oh, and Colin Farrell.....an exceptional and very talented actor. I will not hesitate to watch "Phone Booth".

Summary: Interesting set-up, disappointing conclusion
Review: I have to say I was disappointed with this movie. It started out with a relatively interesting premise and the training scenes were quite enjoyable. Unfortunately it then descended into farce, with contrived twist after contrived twist.

The characters were underdeveloped, apart from Farrell and Pacino. Farrell is solid throughout and proves he can carry a film. Pacino, however, seems to be on autopilot and delivers the same shouty performance he seems to give in every film of late.
