Summary: Very Good Movie but.........
Review: this movie is based on an opinion of a person, on how "he" PFC Taylor [Sheen (better yet Oliver Stone)] feels about war. many people holds differnt opinions you know. this is just one of them.

Now the movie on DVD has exellent picture quality. but the sound quality is a bit lame. I give 3 out of 5 for sound. Plus this DVD only has a trailer besides the feature but nothing else. that i am disapointed. But the movie is very good.

Summary: Overall Great Picture!
Review: "PLATOON," A movie that I am sure has been seen by viewers multiple times. This is one hell of a script and even better acted by names of actors such as Charlie Sheen, William Dafoe and Tom Berenger just to name a few. The story takes off to Vietnam and shows a war of both physical and mental mindsets that an American would never be proud of participating in. Oliver Stone developed a good sense of the war in his limited time frame of this picture as he shows how soldiers can become enemies to each other as quickly as they were friends to begin. Overall, this picture is one heck of a movie no matter what anyone states and I ask you to please see it for yourselves before your quick to judge on what people state about it. Definitely, a movie that deserves recognition for good acting and a good dialogue which most movies now a days lack one or the other. Please rent this or buy your copy for DVD today.

Summary: Classic Movie
Review: Easily one of the top five movies of the 1980's. This movie may not be the most accurate on how soldiers did act in the vietnam war, but Stone tried to make the two squads symbolic of the extreme types of attitudes of war. On one side you had Elias' squad which was much more into making the best out of a bad situation and used drugs as an escape from the reality of war. Barnes squad was so immersed in war that they would do anything they thought would win the war for America. Because of a weak Lt. that did not take an active role in leading the squads, Barnes was able to take control of the platoon and divide it by his attitude towards war. Other notable performances were by Kevin Dillon who played Bunny. Bunny showed us what happpens when someone is given lots of power and no one to tell him that he is doing something wrong. A good example is when he kills the kid from the village for no real reason. I liked this movie because it was more than just battles, it took you inside the minds of the people who were living through a war that they did not understand and were not sure what they were supposed to do. Stone also shows how easy it is for a crazy leader to immerge in a troubling situation.

Summary: Adequate!
Review: Oliver Stone is not my favorite director by any means; this guy, i.e., Stone feels as if has the artistic license to change history to make it come out according to a version that pleases his ear and eye. Platoons story line is weak and not that interesting. However, the movie is saved by good performances from Willem Dafoe, Charlie Sheen and Tom Berenger. Overall though, Platoon VHS ~ Tom Berenger ends up being an all right movie; when it could have become so much more. I have to give credit to the fight scenes; these are very authentic and shows the true nature of warfare.

Summary: Kind of OK
Review: Not the best movie I've seen about the Vietnam war. Truthfully, there really haven't been many accurate movies, the closest to the mood I'd have to say is Full Metal Jacket, but not nearly as close as the book came.

If you want to believe that Vietnam was about all the cool kids smoking pot, killing their officers, and chastising the less fortunate, this movie is for you. Not that great in my opinion, and does a great disservice to veterans.

I certainly wouldn't want my grandkids seeing this and thinking that this was the way it was, it wasn't. Almost a disgrace.

Summary: Fiction !
Review: This movie was based on not greater than 10% fact and no less than 90% fiction. One only needs to read Robert Hemphill's book Platoon: Bravo Company to fine the truth.

Summary: The best depiction of Vietnam ever.
Review: Granted I'm not a major fan of Oliver Stone, however, he really does bring out the worst atrocities in the Vietnam War with frightening reality. My father, a Vietnam veteran and staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force said it best, "This was a real accurate depiction of Vietnam." Before retiring from his teaching job at the local high school, he actually showed this classic war movie to his class. The reactions were very mixed.

Charlie Sheen does a remarkable job as the new recruit in the Army Platoon. He conveys how innocentthe youth was during that hellish moment in history. Willem Dafoe also did a remarkable job as Sergeant Elias, a compassionate officer who is sick of war. And Tom Berenger delivered a very convincing performance as Sergeant Barnes, a hard-nosed officer that every recruit loves to hate and kill. When Charlie Sheen's character kills Tom Berenger's character near the end, you can't help but route for Charlie and for him doing the world a big favor. Getting rid of a corrupt officer who overstepped his authority.

Like Martin Sheen did in another classic depiction of Vietnam, one Apocalypse Now, Charlie does an excellent job of narrating the film, adding an extra dimension to it. No matter how many films of Vietnam are made, nothing can top it, or hit it on the money the way Platoon did. If you are a student of history, you will love Platoon. It is a film that clearly states that war is hell, no matter how you slice it. And how the American Government was stupid enough to get the country involved in a conflict that we had no business of being in in the first place.

Summary: Review of "Platoon"
Review: This just might be the best war film ever made. "Platoon" was brilliantly acted and directed, taking in several awards in 1986 including "Best Picture." Charlie Sheen gives an outstanding performance as a young Vietnam soldier who not only battles the enemy, but the fear within himself. Willem Dafoe and Tom Berenger do an excellent job of portraying sergeants who are in conflict. What makes this film so great is the realism brought out within the movie. Oliver Stone (writer and director), really does a great job of showing the effects the war had on the soldiers. Stone having been in Vietnam himself, shows a soldiers' point-of-view of the war being not only a shattering physical obstacle, but also a mental one. "Platoon" is a drama that gives you an experience of the horror that was Vietnam. The brutality of the scenes and the intensity of the characters help maintain an idea of the paranoia and fear the war caused. This movie is never disappointing and always keeps you interested. The excellent writing and superb acting makes this film hard to forget. I recommend this film to everybody, even if you don't find interest in war. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 9. This film is rated R for strong language and violence.

Summary: Very realistic Very Dramatic
Review: Very Good Movie. The characters have a real feel to them, having been in the Army you can tell the division between the Officers, NCO's, and Privates. It's also very thought provoking though the only main weak spot is Charlie Sheen who seems to overact most of the movie. The plot is very original also. But don't of this movie as a war movie. Think about it as a drama taking place during a war.

Summary: Ambush!!
Review: In my opinion this is in fact the best war film i have ever seen in my life.Basically i've seen most war films the good ones though, and i can admit that this one is the only realistic one. It mostly takes place in the jungle and in villages, with dark humour and graphic war violence the movie is the best.
