Summary: They Don't Get Any Better Then This!
Review: I can't say enough good things about this film, it is superb! Definately doesn't deserve the 'R' rating it got! The plan was inspired, the "returning" of the painting was brilliant, just everything about this film is terriffic!

Summary: The Thomas Crowne Affair is Sensuality.....redefined
Review: A hot, intelligent, and superbly witful 'cat and mouse' atmosphere reigns throughout this movie. It is a well-written, extraordinarely well developped/directed plot and such is an understatement! Bravo (bis) to its director, scriptwriter(s), cameramen and its actors whom, despite my having watched this movie three times in two days, have yet to seem to be 'acting'. What sheer pleasure it must have been for these to have worked under such a talented hand as Mc Tiernan's! Each frame is treated as though principals enacted them - Extras come out as well as principals. Mc Tiernan has also redefined sensuality and made it a form of art. Rene is brilliantly provocative and Pierce is as mischievious as ever - Bravo, bravo, bravo!

Summary: Strong, but weak, at the same time.
Review: The Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan is based on the old movie from 1968 with the same name. And to tell you the truth, the old one is better. The old Thomas Crown Affair with Steven McQueen and Faye Dunaway has a better rhythm to it. Steve McQueen who plays Thomas Crown in the old one, is a lot cooler than Brosnan. Brosnan speaks too much to be considered a a really cool rich guy. Anyway, Heres my review on the new Thomas Crown Affair. Pierce Brosnan is, as always, the good looking rich guy who always gets the girl. Rene Russo is the Insurance Agent who falls in love with Pierce Brosnan. The movie is strong in that the movie flows very well. It is easy to follow as well as to enjoy. Brosnan uses his James Bond like movement to capture your attention. If someone who didn't know better saw the movie halfway through, they would swear it was a James Bond movie. Whatever Pierce Brosnan does, he acts like James Bond. The weak part of the movie is that it gets boring. If you watch this movie, and don't like Pierce Brosnan or Rene Russo, you will turn it off. It doesn't contain the level of action that you would expect. The chemistry between Brosnan and Russo is also lousey. It seems that they were both told what to do, and then after the director said "cut," the two of them would walk away from each other and not talk to each other again until the next scene. This is a must see movie if you're a Brosnan fan. This movie is a "renter", not a "buyer". I did. And renting the movie changed my whole view of the movie. The trailer is exciting, but the movie does not live up to that expectation.

Summary: One of the Best Films of 1999
Review: Stylish and slick. I loved it! Although nobody is going to find this "useful," I just wanted to voice my opinion! Excellent!

Summary: Fantastic. This movie has it all!
Review: This movie is great. Every once in a while, Hollywood will create a movie that is sophisticated, intelligent, funny, and set in incredible locations. I believe that the remake of The Thomas Crown affair is destined to be a classic!

Summary: Very stylish but with little substance
Review: Although Mr. Brosnan's and Ms. Russo's performances are credible and the direction is commendable the script is lacking. And that's not to say that I wasn't suprised by the ending... I certainly was but the romance was staid, predictable and without real contrast or energy.

It's worth viewing just don't expect much more than some picturesque scenery and clever thievery.

Summary: Not Priceless Art, But Thomas Crown Paints a Nice Picture
Review: There are two kinds of movies made about master thieves. In one, the perpetrator of the crime is a mystery, and the audience -- like the detective (policeman, inspector, etc.) -- must figure out whodunit. In others, like the remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, the question isn't who but how. And, as one would suspect, seeing the game of cat and mouse is the focus of excitement.

Taking a break from playing everyone's favorite superspy James Bond, Pierce Brosnon is stretching his role-playing abilities. Instead of playing a rich, womanizing, playboy superspy, he's playing a rich, womanizing, playboy financier.

Nevertheless, Crown suffers from boredom. As his analyst (played by Faye Dunaway, who co-starred in the original) points out, Crown desires to find a worthy competitor. The business world offers no more challenges, so he has orchestrated a marvelous crime in order to steal a priceless work of art from a New York gallery.

Entering the scene, hot on the tail of the police, is Catherine Banning (Rene Russo, Lethal Weapon 4). Banning is a bounty hunter for the agency that insured the painting. If she recovers the artwork, she gets a cool five million. Unwilling to work alongside the NYPD, she targets her suspect and sets the game in motion. Crown knows he's a suspect, she knows he knows, and he knows she knows he knows. Needless to say, it becomes difficult to understand who is playing whom.

But that's the fun of The Thomas Crown Affair. The question is never "whodunit" but why, and what happens next? The intricate power struggle between the rich tycoon and the thrill-seeking bounty hunter is a thing of beauty. None of this would be worth a dime, however, if the actors hadn't been able to pull it off. This is not an action film, or a crime story filled with gunplay. It's character driven.

As mentioned earlier, this is the kind of role Brosnon has been doing for years, first with television's "Remington Steele" and now with the James Bond movies like Tomorrow Never Dies. But the real treat was seeing Denis Leary (Small Soldiers) playing a nice guy. Leary usually plays mean, sadistic, and ruthless individuals. Here, however, he shows that he can play the underdog, vying for Banning's affection.

Although The Thomas Crown Affair is essentially a cops and robbers movie, there are some steamy sex scenes and onscreen nudity inappropriate for younger viewers. That aside, it's a good movie, involving an interesting crime and more interesting pursuit. Because it's a character story, it's a nice break from the summer action movies.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: This is an absolutely wonderful movie. I saw it in the theater 4 times. Pierce and Renee have great chemistry in this movie. Both of them sizzle in their roles . . . . Pierce is such a gentleman and Renee is a beauty! If you've ever dreamed of being a millionare or enjoy fine art you have to see this movie. The plot is wonderful, the soundtrack works great with the film, and the scenery is exquisite. It seemed catered to an older crowd but at 20 I love it. It has quickly become my one of my all time favorite movies. I can't get enough of this movie.

Summary: Pierce and Rene heat up the screen: Ouch! Too hot.
Review: THIS MOVIE WAS GREAT. I'm a huge fan of the classic romantics, and feel that this is up there with the best. I'm also a huge fan of Pierce, he reminded me of the greats: Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, Cesear Romero and Tom Bosley. I have to warn people, Rene has some risky scenes (I would just fast forward through them). Dennis Leary is a genius, he actually stole some scenes when he's on the screen with a coffee maker.

Summary: Brosnan & Russo Light Up The Screen
Review: This was one of the great movies of summer 99. Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo star in the remake of the 1968 Steve McQueen& Faye Dunaway movie The Thomas Crown Affair. Which personally i think the remake is so much better. This version is helmed by action ature John McTiernan who is best known for Die Hard. Shows that he isn't just an action director he can direct a romance. But what makes this movie work is the chemistry between Brosnan and Russo who sizzle and light up the screen. Pierce Brosnan who is very handsome and Rene Russo is gorgeous they are both awsome.

The script by By Kurt Wimmer and Leslie Dixon is very good and there is really never a boring part in it. The script develops the characters well and the heist scene in the art museum was really well done. The photography is great so is the jazzy music from Composer Bill Conti. Oh you can't forget the small but funny role by Faye Dunaway who was in the original. Rent this or do what ever to see it. becuase it has great chemistry between Brosnan and Russo and what is really great is that they are about the same age. But what is the stand out i think is John McTiernan who shows that he can direct other films than just action. This was maybe one of the best summer films that i saw. And it proves that Brosnan can do other projects than just 007 films. This films $68 million dollar gross should tell you that.
