Summary: GUARDIAN ANGELS WATCHING OVER DENZEL
Review: OUT OF TIME is slick, convoluted, at times implausible, but because of the sincerity and punch of Carl Franklin's direction and the good performances, it's a good and enjoyable film. It seems like there are guardian angels watching over Denzel Washington in this one! Every time it looks like he's going to get caught, something happens that gets him off the hook. Clever, if improbable. Without rehashing the plot, it is to Denzel's credit that he makes Matthias Whitlock and engaging hero. He's duped big time by his girl friend, played sexily by the lovely Sanaa Latham and her husband, Dean Cain in one of his more convincing performances. His estranged wife played with gusto by Eva Mendes gets into the scenario, and so does Denzel's drinking buddy, played by John Billingsley, who manages to steal every scene he's in.
Although slow in the beginning, once the pace picks up, we get some tense action scenes.
Not one of Denzel's best, but thanks to he and Billingsley, you'll have a good time.

Summary: overlooked
Review: It starts out as the typical Denzel Washington playing a macho-hip-cool cop (also seen in Fallen and Man on Fire) and then thankfully gets very unpredictable when he is thrust into the middle of one of his cases. It has a very nice twist toward the end, and a surprisingly good performance by Dean Cain.

Summary: Out of Time leaves nothing to question
Review: Denzel Washington, an actor that most would agree is very good at what he does, has no room to do anything exciting in an very bland suspense movie. The whole movie is just going from one close call to another, all in order to save his neck. Sure, there is a dabbling with a former relationship and an emphasis on his current one, but there is no interest there. If you like thinking will he make it for the whole movie, while the question is more like will he make it for what? Then okay, watch it, but otherwise it is not worth buying, maybe just renting, once.
