Summary: Very Good Movie and Love Story.
Review: This movie is a calssic movie, which shows you a love story between a pilot and a girl. It's a classic (and one of the most famous) Tom Cruise's film.

It's so popular movie, that there's also a parodic movie about that...

If you haven't seen it yet, run to buy it!

Summary: Influenced my Life even to this day
Review: This movie is one that stays with you long after the credits roll. I didn't even realize until recently how much of an impact it has had on me. You might think I'm trying to imitate Tom Cruise's character Maverick since I now have moved to San Diego (home of Miramar Air Station, the setting of Top Gun), work at a Navy base, and ride a motorcycle. But I'm no copy-cat, this movie inspired me to think big and go for my own dreams.

Summary: One of the best.
Review: I am so sick of people that pick on every single little aspect of a movie, complain about EVERYTHING no matter how good the movie was, and think they are some kind of phylisophical movie critic. Movies are to ENTERTAIN you. Not make you a better person, enlighten you. You go to the movies to get entertained. And TOP GUN does this. Comedy, jets, a love story, friendship, competition, rivalries, misbehaving, etc... This movie is legendary. If you watch it for fun, you will love it. If you watch it to see how accurately they depict life-like scenarios and to judge the compatability of the characters, you are simply missing the ENTIRE POINT OF WATCHING MOVIES. Don't be the english teacher movie analyst type. Just watch the damn movie.

Summary: A Movie Through The Danger Zone
Review: One of the best aircraft movie I've ever seen.It has great aerial photography and soundtrack. This is not a war movie, this is an action. There are some stupid and strange thinghs in that one.I'm very interested in combat aircraft and I've never seen an aircraft called MIG-28 that is F-5 in the movie. Also F-14 Tomcats HUD(heads up display) is not like the one in the movie. But these are extras and doesn't makes the movie bad.Tony Scott made good one again.Top Gun and Iron Eagle are the best of their kind. Also both soundtracks are excellent. You can buy this movie if you like action or airplane movies.

Summary: Buy this and "Showgirls"
Review: Was there anything that came out of the Eighties any good? Jet pilots acting like silver spooned 12-year-old brats. Laughable script, Wooden acting... It's Cliché driven tripe. Kelly McGillis looks like Tom Cruise mum! Standout points - Tom's Singing, inverted jets, the death of the good 'ol boy and, lets not forgot, the sense of humour - "I think she lost it", "no Mav, don't do it!", "You never close your eyes..." Ha Ha Ha Ha The cinematic equivalent to Don Johnson suits...

Summary: Widescreen format is a joke
Review: The widescreen version of this movie, is actually just the full screen version with the top and bottom replaced with black bars. This means even more is cropped from the movie, and you actually see even LESS than the full screen. This is fraudulent, and the video and sound quality are mediocre. It's a real shoddy job for such a good movie.

Summary: Loved it when I was younger, but....
Review: ...it's gotten hokier and hokier with age.Still very slick, and very entertaining, but all the jingoism now turns me off from the film. Also, since I was 14, whenever I watch Top Gun, I automatically think of Quentin Tarantino. And if any of you have seen "Sleep With Me", or heard his theory on the subtext of "Top Gun", you'll understand why.

Summary: Crash the Plane, Already
Review: Arggghhh! I was so disappointed by this one. Somehow I was lead to believe that this "classic" was going to be entertaining. I curse the people who recommended this to me. The only consolation throughout the entire movie is Tom Cruise's presence, but even that gets old. And if I have to hear that damned "Take my Breath Away" one more time, I'm going to scream. I'm sure you're a busy person. Don't waste your time. And don't exert the effort of putting this one in the VCR and pressing play. It bites. In a big way.

Summary: Totally phony!
Review: Top Gun is the standard when it comes to bad 80's movies, i.e., scero plot, dumb women and characters that are so bland and tame that you could have replaced them with props. The only good scene...no ha...there is not a single memorable scene in this forgettable movie. It is nice to see that Tom Cruise survived this turkey.

Summary: the jets have more personality than the characters
Review: Ok, I like this movie and watch it often (at least, I watch the flying scenes a lot, a nice benefit of DVD) but the script is weak and the characters laughable. Tom Cruise would have been busted out of the Navy in the first 10 minutes, and the dialogue is painful. But the cinematography is terrific, and they have lots of real shots of carrier operations and F-14s (even if the film-makers have little comprehension of modern air combat). Watch it straight through only if you're nostalgic for the 80's. Great supporting cast with little to do. Watch for Tim Robbins as Merlin -- you only see him without his oxygen mask on the carrier deck near the end!
