Review: Having said that, one must decide 1st if they like the movie or not. You can read various other reviews, or rent it, to decide that.
As to the DVD(s):
On the second disc is a plethora of fan goodies!!!
As a fan of Sci-Fi, and one curious individual, I found both discs enlightening. On the first disc is the Movie itself, with the option to hear commentaries by Lucas, and others. They explain some of the subtle changes made between the Theatrical, and DVD releases. They also show you the "Easter Eggs" you may have missed while watching the movie.
The second disc is the Behind-the-Scenes disc. They show how the creatures were designed. How they were created, animated, and incorporated into the film. They also go into how the story came together, why certain characters returned, how the music and sound affects came about, etc.
If ya like the movie, you'll love this version!

Summary: Frighteningly bad
Review: Fortunately, after the train wreck that was Episode I, I wisely chose to not waste [...] on seeing Episode II in the theater, figuring I could waste just half that amount at the rental counter a few months later instead. Truly a good decision, because, as a fan of the original trilogy (I grew up with them), both Episode I and II have been almost painful to bear. Interestingly, after seeing the first installment of Lord of the Rings, it occurred to me that the reason the original Star Wars films were so good is because they were, in many ways, a retelling of Tolkein's masterpiece. When Obi-Wan allows himself to be cut down by Vader in full view of his young charge, Luke Skywalker, it wasn't much different than Gandalf falling to his death at the bridge of Khazad-dum in front of Frodo (and they both return later, too). So many elements of Star Wars mirror those in Lord of the Rings. It's not really a rip-off -- even Lord of the Rings is just an elaborate, complex retelling of the most basic story: ultimate evil vs. ordinary goodness. Harry Potter even has similar elements. (Much like Luke Skywalker's, Harry's parents were killed and he's growing up with his aunt and uncle who just don't understand him, etc.) Without that storyline to draw upon, George Lucas inflicts his action-figure commercial [...] upon a devoted Star Wars audience and proves beyond doubt that he has virtually no skills as a screenplay writer. The story jumps around, the dialogue is simply horrific, and I couldn't ever really even make myself care about the characters. That was always one thing I loved about the original trilogy. The viewer was emotionally invested in Luke, Leia, Hans, and the droids. Who cares about ANY of the characters in the "new" Star Wars films? I specifically remember after leaving the theater following Episode I, I TRIED to recall four or five characters (besides the abominable Jar-Jar Binks) and just couldn't. I didn't care when whoever that guy was (Qui-Jon whatever) got killed by Darth Maul, who had zero relevance himself. Episode II just expounds on the garbage. Padme sports every bizarre hairstyle short of a full-blown afro, and Hayden Christensen comes off as a sullen, pouty momma's boy brat more than anything else. The romance is completely phony, and why anyone of the breeding and intelligence that Padme is supposed to embody would continue to be involved with someone who eradicates a whole village of people (or whatever they are) and is clearly bipolar just makes no sense. I bet people who lined up for hours on end to see this in the theater felt like they had just been mugged and violated. It's that bad.

Summary: What a failure.
Review: I am a star wars fan but I just don't like this movie (and Star Wars I either). The acting is phony, the dialogue is stiff and simplistic and the movie looks like a continuos computer animation sequence. Digital generated special effects just are not good and they all look alike (you can spot them right away). Overall: TERRIBLE and did I mention boring?. Stick with the original trilogy.

Summary: Truly Awful
Review: This movie is a celebration of wooden dialogue. The really interesting question is how could someone with so much talent available make such an uninteresting movie? By comparison, the first movie was positively sprightly.

Review: I want my money back. It's all about how a ton of special effects cannot compensate for lifeless predictable acting and screenplay writing. I get the impression that they hoped we'd be so dazzled by the "pretty lights" that we'd not even notice the rest.

Summary: blah!! this really sucked!
Review: This was worse than Phantom Menace. This film had no spirit to it whatsoever. The acting was horrible, the plot didn't flow, the dialog was shallow, the action scenes were senseless and overly gawdy, and Yoda's light saber scene was a joke. The only thing memorable about this movie was the scene where Anakin finds his captive mother. I can't really remember much anything else. There should have been more of the scene where Anakin proceeds to slaughter the tribe that captured his mother.It's a darnshame, but this series has really gone downhill. I am not looking forward to Episode 3.

Summary: Everything a movie needs
Review: Why are so many people down on this movie. It is fun action packed and full of great effects. Mostly people complain about the movies love story. Well is wasn't that bad a couple bad lines but not enough to ruin the absolutly fun entairtanment the movie provides. Plus I found Padme to be a hottie. It also anwsers several questions about the Star Wars saga. We also get to see Yoda fight. This is my favorite part of the movie. Heck it is the best scene in any movie ever. The DVD has great picture, sound, extras. This is the movie to buy.

Review: "The Star Wars universe compares very favorably with any mythologies or fantasies I know, including JRR Tolkien's. I'd indeed argue that Lucas's double trilogy is much bigger and far more interesting than all of Tolkien's books combined. And the movies are also one level above anything contrived by Peter Jackson (although his films are entertaining in their own right). I'd bet that if Tolkien were alive today to see Lucas's films, he'd be swept off his feet (or fall off his seat). To combine grand mythology, science fiction, morality tale, and psychological drama in this perfectly balanced brew is too much for anyone even with Tolkien's brilliance to beat. And the special effects are just state-of-the-art! Shakespeare may have been the hottest writer in Elizabethan times, but Lucas is the greatest creative, artistic genius alive today." You have got to be kidding right? GL took elements from Tolkiens books and incorporated them into Star Wars. George Lucas couldn't write or direct movies if his life depended on it. Peter Jackson sent Lucas back to school with his incredible interpretation of Tolkien. And NO. Lucas is NOT the greatest creative, artistic genius alive today. NOT EVEN CLOSE. If Tolkien were alive today and saw Star Wars......he would laugh his [rear] off and then cry.

Summary: Fun, exciting, but not what I was expecting
Review: I'm not really sure how to describe this movie. Nearly 2 minutes in to the movie and you are already in the action of another Star Wars film. This movie is right on the mark for creating a universe that is vast and surprising. Probably the best moment in the movie is where Yoda pulls out the mini-matching green light saber and does battle with the bad guys. A very good addition to the movie is Jango Fett, Bobba Fett's father. The action scenes with him are amazing. The rocket launchers, the laser guns, and even a grappling hook are all a fantastic addition to the plot. However, some things get old fast. C-3P0's quirks are back, but some are lame and repetative like you have heard them a million times. Jar Jar Binx is also back but with a much smaller part. Other things that lowered my personal rating were the constant cries from the older Anakin Skywalker. Some of his lines were just too unbearable which reminded me of a whining baby. These did not render his skills as a Jedi though. He still knows how to use the Force and kick tail when need be. If you haven't already seen Star Wars Episode 1, then you'd better hold off on purchasing this until you have seen Star Wars Episode 1. Most characters from Episode 1 are back in Episode 2 but if you have not seen 1 then it can be very confusing to figure out who is who. Something else that was lacking in the movie was another evil Jedi who was a real killer. Dooku just wasn't fit for the part. All in all, this DVD fares up nicely to other DVDs released in the same week. Oh and if you want my opinion... this movie is much better than Spider-man.
