Summary: a "Job" well done!
Review: I've just gotten around to seeing this movie on dvd and I'm glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't see the original film but I certainly found this remake a thrill ride and felt the actors did a good job with their roles. Mark Wahlberg is good as the ring leader, Charlie, and Charlize Theron, the lovely Oscar winning actress makes a tantalizing partner for the team as Stella, a whiz at opening almost any safe. Edward Norton is very good as the sleezy, one-time friend turned villain, who becomes the target of Charlie and Co after a major betrayal.

Other cast members include Seth Green, as a computer geek nicknamed "Napster" and Donald Sutherland as Stella's father, once the leader of this team of charming thieves. This is a good action film and worth seeing.

Summary: Wow
Review: I have always thought that the best Copy is the Original. How wrong I was only this movie had taught me. The new Italian Job is Perfect. It couldn't possibly be better.

I loved every second of it and I almost cried when it was finished.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Summary: A waste of a great cast
Review: Whatever your thoughts on the original movie, last year's The Italian Job has very little in common with it, only referencing the former once when talking about car chases. If anything, this seems to have been influenced by Ocean's Eleven more than anything else in it's efforts to be achingly cool. Unfortunately it just doesn't succeed. The plot is minimal, but that's not really the complaint given the fact that you don't go and see this kind of film for the plot. You go to see it for the action, and here's it's pretty stinted and unexciting. The direction is so sloppy that virtually no tension is built up in the various heist sequences, and the beautiful Venice backdrop is barely utilised at all. More importanly, the return of the Mini chase sequence is distinctly lacklustre. In recent years both The Rock and The Bourne Identity have given us much better car chase scenes, and this one really falls flat.

In many ways it's a shame this isn't any better, because its cast really is superb. If you can forget about the wooden star quality of Mark Wahlberg, then you've got Oscar-winner Charlize Theron and Oscar-nominee Edward Norton is supporting roles. Unfortunately both actors aren't given nearly as much screen time as you might like, Norton's role amounting to little more than a cameo. Contractually obliged to take the role, this is least distinguished role yet, a shame given the fact he is such an astounding talent. Anyone wanting to see him in better roles would do better to check out American History X or 25th Hour. Perhaps surprisingly, the best performances come from the minor players of the crack team. Seth Green really hits his stride here, capitalising on his Austin Powers and Buffy fame to give the few laughs the film contains. Jason Stratham is also very good, though his persona from Snatch may wear thin before too long.

Like I said, the main problem with The Italian Job is that it's so boring, overlong, cheesy and unexciting. There are heaps better action movies out there - Speed and True Lies spring to mind - and as far as heist movies go, Ocean's Eleven, and even the uneven The Score, have this beat. This is bland anodyne Hollywood stuff, and it's particularly offensive for its waste of good talent.

Summary: Watched over and over
Review: I've seen the "The Italian Job" remake a million times by now. Some people in other reviews have said that this was nothing like the original, but if you would have done some research then you would know that F. Gary Gray didn't intend on making it the same. It was supposed to be a movie in itself...and it is. I watch this movie constantly. It's just a good movie to watch if you're bored or there's nothing on TV. I do like this movie, so I watch it if I want to sometimes, not just because of the previously mentioned reasons to watch it. It's a good time and after you've seen it once you don't have to pay attention to every scene and you can still know what's going on.
One part I absolutely love in this movie is when Left Ear sees Skinny Pete for the first time. It's too funny. But there's something that I can't quite get over. I can't tell whether or not the red mini that Stella drives is her car or if it's one of the coopers that Charlie got for them to drive. Every time I watch this movie I try to look at Stella's liscense plate to see what state it's for. Also, there's a hole in the plot in the part where everyone meets up to meet Stella. I can never tell where they met...in LA or in Philadelphia (where Stella lives). Also they never say where the other guys are from, so you can't tell at all what the details are. I also wonder why they go to New Orleans at the end. Did anyone else notice that?
Overall though, I give this movie a good rating. I like it and it's just fun to watch occasionally...if you don't care that much about the details (the only reason I noticed all those holes and questions is because I've seen the movie so many times). Give this movie a try. You never know until you try!

Summary: Good entertainment !
Review: I will say that generally, it is a good entertainment. Norton is the nasty guy and he's cool in it. The plot and the acting are good and even if the end is very predictable, I will say that this movie is full of pressure and entertain perfectly. Good Job!
Don't expect a masterpiece after all.

Summary: Mini-coopers rock!
Review: You know don't let the fact that Mark Wahlberg is the leading-man in this movie throw you off, this is a worthy remake of the 1969 classic which starred Michael Caine (even though in a lot of aspects its very different). The story is still somewhat the same though. In Venice, Italy, a team of expert thieves pulls a daring heist of 35 million dollars in bars of gold. One of the thieves betrays his companions and swipes the gold for himself. One year later, in Los Angeles, the surviving team members create a smart and devious plan to steal back the gold and get their revenge on the traitor

I was truly entertained with this movie because it kept on going the entire time, there was never really a break in the action and that is what I liked about it. The scene with the Mini Coopers has to be seen to be believed because it is truly something spectacular.

Jason Statham, Seth Green and Donald Sutherland are all extremely funny in their roles and the constant bickering going on between some of the characters is worth watching the movie alone, truly funny stuff. Whereas some of the other provide more comic relief Charlize Theron, Edward Norton and Wahlberg provide a more serious aspect.

All in all this a movie that will keep you entertained for the entire duration, it has humor, action and everything else you would expect from the sort of movie you simply watch to enjoy yourself, not to think too much. I can recommend this one and can almost assure you that you are going to enjoy it.

Summary: A fun film...but almost to clever
Review: Let me say that this film has an excellent cast, who works well with each other, lots of action and effects, and you'll be highly entertained throughout. The only problem I had was that everything was wrapped up too neatly, there was nothing to figure out. Other than that, it was very fun, but nothing I would watch over and over. Definitely rent it, but buying it is up to you.

Summary: I liked it...
Review: Rating System:
1 star = abysmal; some movies need to be forgotten
2 star = poor; a total waste of time
3 star = good; worth the effort
4 star = very good; what a flick should be
5 star = fantastic; must own it and share it with others

STORY: You know the story from the trailer...a team of theives gets double-crossed by one of their own (Edward Norton) and they aim to get back at him

MY FEEDBACK:
1) CHARACTERS - you don't get deep into any of the characters but that is not the point of this type of movie. Yet, there are little glimpses into each one that makes you like them well enough and even root for them
2) PLOT - no real surprises but the over heist concepts were cool and the end result was satisfying
3) ACTING - I love the casting in this movie. Seth Green is one of my favorite actors and he delivers some great lines in this movie.
4) HUMOR - this movie had me laughing out loud more than some comedies. This was more of a comic-action flickk, which made it fun to watch in between the adrenaline chase scenes
5) ACTION - good action scenes but not great. The opening chase scene in the Transporter is much better than the scenes in this movie

OVERALL: I had my reservations because I hadn't heard a lot of positive about the movie. When my wife rented this from NetFlix I sat down to watch it with her and was pleasantly surprised. This is a FUN movie...watch it.

Summary: Useless movie.
Review: If it has Mark Walhberg in it, it must be useless. That's my motto. And The Italian Job did not scape this tradition. Add to it the fact that Edward Norton worked on it just due to contractual obligation, and thefact that the movie seems like a great advertising campaing for the Mini-Cooper, and you can not expect a great movie...

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Better than first one, but not as good of an ending
Review: You may not even have known that there was another Italian Job. It starred Michael Caine and its story was a little similar to this one but not as compelling. Yet, the original Italian Job had the biggest cliff-hanging ending in the HISTORY OF MOVIES! Why didn't they do something like that here? It was a classic! I downgraded this somewhat (I probably would have given it 4 stars) due to its weak ending when they were handed the most perfect (and ironic) ending in movie history with the first movie.
