Summary: Great fun - spods will gripe though
Review: This is a very well paced, scripted, edited, filmed, and choreographed caper movie: the pace never lets up, the one liners are funny, you get to see what bullets do under water, there's even a cameo for real life Napster creator Shawn Fanning.

This film will thoroughly entertain anyone except the sort of spod who complains that (i) it might not have the best car chase ever (it still has a pretty good car chase), or (ii) Michael Caine's original was different and somehow better (this isn't Michael Caine's original), or (iii) it doesn't have much to do with Italy (now I love Italy, but honestly: so what?), or (iv) there are product placements in it (has there been a film made in the last 30 years (other than Derzu Uzala) which doesn't have product placements?), or (v) it's not an especially sophisticated rumination on the wondrousness of the human spirit in situations of real adversity (want that? rent Derzu Uzala. Don't rent a Caper Movie).

The only flaw I could see was that neither Wahlberg nor Norton were especially animated (Wahlberg never does seem very animated. Norton needed be less like the limo driver in Spinal Tap and more like Steve Buscemi, who really knows how to play a man with a wispy goatee).

Switch off your brain and enjoy. It's fat free!

Summary: Great movie
Review: This is one of those movies that you can see several times and never get tired of it. The cast it's amazing featuring Mark Wahlberg (The yards), Charlize Theron (Sweet november), Edward Norton (American story X), Seth Green (Austin Powers) and Donald Sutherland.
The story is about a robbery in Venice and one of the members of the group (Edward Norton) decides to go his way with all the gold that they stoled, by taking posetion of the gold worthed 34 million he kills the master of the group (Donald Sutherland) and thinks that the rest of the team is also dead.
So one year after one of the members (Mark Walhberg) decides to look for the master's doughther (Charlize Theron)and tell her that he had paged the killer of her father, so the whole team plus her who happends to be an expert in safes (if you see that movie you'll know why I'm saying this) start a plan to recover the gold as revange of the dead of the "master" of the group.
This movie has wonderful locations like Venice and the streets of L.A, has a lot of action with some scenes sparked up with comedy.
If you didn't know Michael Caine acted on the original version back in 1969.
Once again I say that this movie is great, for my opinion it's one of the best releases of this year ... I strongly recommended.

Summary: Finually a Good Movie
Review: ... I loved this movie, I thought the plot was interesting, the music was great, (I have the CD), and of course if you are a MINI owner you will find the cars fun to watch. There was no computer enhancement with the chases. It was all done with stunt driving. Maybe today with all the computer enhancement no one can watch a really crafted movie that is done purely with talent. I just put in my order for the DVD.

Review: F. Gary Gray directs a star-powered ensemble cast pitting Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Seth Green, Mos Def, and Jason Statham up against Edward Norton in a heist adventure film that is "Ocean's Eleven" meets "The Score." 35 million dollars in gold bars were smuggled by Wahlberg, Norton, Statham, Green, Def and Donald Sutherland. Norton turns on his crew, kills Sutherland, thinks he's killed the others and flees to Hollywood with the loot. Why is Norton always the backstabber? Now safecracker babe Theron wants revenge on Norton for killing her father, and feels that if she joins the old team in taking the gold back from him, it will somehow ease her grievance. I liked Statham and Sutherland and sometimes Green and Mos Def. I didn't like Wahlberg or Theron. As for Edward Norton- he doesn't even belong in this movie. Some of the gimmicks were fun, some of the chases were fast, some of the one-liners get chuckles, but this is just a kid's petty-thief movie. It's pretty safe to say "Ocean's Eleven" and "The Score" were much better films on their own.

Summary: Great If You Can Suspend Disbelief
Review: F. Gary Gray's remake of the 1969 original starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, and Donald Sutherland. A modern rendition for Generation "X" with lot of action and good comedy. The razzles and dazzles of this movie unfortunately require a lot of imagination by the audience for it to be credible.

I find hard to believe that any Mini-Cooper, no matter how good its suspension or engine modifications, could haul around a half-ton or more of gold while flying around L.A.'s flood drains. Even with oxygen, I think people would be quite dead of hypothermia sitting at the bottom of a frigid lake in the Swiss Alps after only a few minutes.

The acting was enjoyable and the action sequences entertaining but, again, the adventure of the characters is a little too far fetched to be credible.

Summary: Forget the Original. This Italian Job Stands On Its Own!
Review: While fans of the original film have been fearful that the 21st century version would not match up to the merits of the first film, this adaption by F. Gary Gray is whimsical and rollicking... only different. Mark Wahlberg leads a strong cast in this retelling which pits our criminal heroes against a criminal criminal, played coolly by Ed Norton. While reports that Norton was forced to take this part may be true, he is still a true professional and turns in a wonderfully weasily performance. There is lots of action and plenty of comedy. Seth Green will have you laughing so hard you'll be crying. With some fantastic action sequences that used no CGI whatsoever, you won't feel shorted on thrills. They don't make them like this anymore -- or at least, they don't do it very often. Great film and perfect for multiple viewings.

Summary: One of the best movies of summer 2003
Review: This movie rocks. Im sure you all know how good this summer was, movie wise. There was a hit movie every week. People didn't really look at this movie or saw it. Or even really knew about it. But this has to be one of the best movies of the summer, if not the best movie. See this movie when it comes out or if it is still in theaters, see it now!!!!!
