Summary: An unforgettable Disney Classic!
Review: Those people that are saying Lion King was a rip-off of Kimba the Lion are only jaded anime otakus that seem to think American animation is always ripping off Japan.

Not true. In fact, The Lion King was an adaption of the famous Shakespearian play Hamlet where the main character(which the play is titled off of)'s father, the King, is killed by his jealous brother. Told by his father's ghost to avenge his death, Hamlet does so, the similarity ends with Disney's trademark happy ending (in Hamlet, everyone dies at the end).

This movie, though not my favorite of all the Disney animated features (that title belonging to The Hunchback of Notre Dame), is superbly made and has earned it's recognition as one of the greatest animated features of all time very easily. I'd go as far to say that if Walt were alive when it was released, he would have been proud.

The music, acting, animation and overall story are all blended together seamlessly into a movie you have to be completely abnormal not to love.

Buy this movie, you won't regret it, even after the upteenth viewing.

Summary: One of Disney's best
Review: Disney had a doosy on their hands when they had to follow up the critcally acclaimed and Academy Award nominate "Beauty and the Beast" but the studio came through with shining colors. The story line and plot seemlessly blends humor, sadness, hope, triumph, suspense, action and joy. From the soul-stirring opening scene whe Simba is introduced at Pride Rock, to the race in the gorge to save simba from a raging stampede, to the finale where Simba and his fellow lions fight to save their kingdom. To put it short, this movie is a masterpiece of animation and moviemaking in general and having Elton John write the music to the movie doesn't hurt at all.

Summary: Finding Jung in the Lion King
Review: The Lion King works on many levels, and runs as deep as the ideas of Carl Jung. Yes, I'm serious. It's what makes this film a masterpiece.

Carl Jung wrote about a process called Individuation, which is the process of realizing your full, healthy self. The Lion King is a metaphor for the process of realizing your full, healthy self. The Pride Lands represent the self generally. Simba is willpower, which must conquer Scar, who is selfishness. Nala is selflessness. The baboon is the part of ourselves which knows what is right (wisdom).

What happens when Simba leaves, when there is no willpower - no courage, no sense of responsibility? The self (the Pride Lands) falls to selfishness (Scar) and dies (is barren).

So, Nala (selflessness) and the baboon (wisdom)appear, driving Simba (willpower) to conquer Scar (selfishness). The Pride Lands (the self) are beautiful again.

Does this makes sense? See how great this film is?

Summary: Wonderful, has always brought a tear to my eye.
Review: I have to disagree with the Amazon.com review of this title for young kids. My two year old has been watching it for ages and absolutely loves it. When she first got into it (when she was sick at the beginning of 2002), she had it on over and over again with no nightmares or any other problems. It is exciting, awe-inspiring and quite breathtaking at times. One of Disney best ever movies. Well done!

Summary: The Circle of Life
Review: This movie is similar to Bambi: The hero is born, loses a parent, grows up to be brave and good, and has a child of his own. The drawing is beautiful, the songs are very singable, and the story is touching. The modern, wise-acre dialog of Timon and Pumba at times detracts from the film, but other than that, the tale of little Simba growing up to be king is terrific. Adults will love it as much as the kids, and you'll want to see it again and again.

Summary: The last great Disney movie...
Review: To me, this was the last Disney production that was excellent. The animation is astounding and the plot keeps you watching. Im 15 years old and i still watch it. The music is stirring and the emotions of the movie almost move me to tears every time i see it (you cant help feeling incredibly sad when Mufasa dies). The bottom line is, if you havent seen this movie, no matter what your age, see it. Then see it again and again.

Summary: The Best Movies That Disneys ever made
Review: The Lion King 1&2 are the best movies disney has ever made, and there's no doubt about it! Every bit about it is great, and I don't think I'll ever get sick of the movies either! The songs are terrific, and the detail in the movie is great (even the clouds move!) Keep up the good work, disney, and I'm hoping to see a Lion Ling 3 soon!!!

Summary: Tears from the beginning
Review: The Lion King is a beautiful history.
It' s the essential draw for life and for love for the next generations.
And it was the model for the following Disney movies made later.
I think I could have felt the same for Pinnochio if I was born five decades before.
Both have brillant moments and wonderful draws.
But most of all, they have tears from the beginnning than on the end.
How can be that possible?

Summary: Perfect
Review: The story of the Lion King is perfect. Almost two perfect as they managed to compress the story into 87min. The use of song fits perfectly and moves the story forward. The chracters are developed quickly and the viewer becomes attached imediatly. Great Movie!!!
