Summary: You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll have fun stormin' the castl
Review: Call it a fairy tale. Call it a romantic comedy. Doesn't matter. Just be sure you call it good. Because this is a great movie/fairy tale.

It amazes me that this great cast has nearly vanished from the face of the Earth. Cary Elwes, Robin Wright Penn, Mandy Patinkin, et all, are the best they've ever been here.

Yes, the story gets a bit hokey here and there. The comedy delves into being too broad at times. And, the Fire Swamp could use some more realistic giant rats. But that's just nit-picking what is a wonderful movie for the family from director Rob Reiner.

Summary: Very Funny and Very Touching
Review: Almost everything , scratch that, absolutely everything about "The Princess Bride" is pure, shimmering gold. William Goldman (All The Presidents' Men) penned a classic script, filled with breezy humor, excitement and a lot of wit. Its perfectly complemented by the always pitch-perfect direction of Rob Reiner, who has fun with the material without once neglecting the very original story given him by Goldman. And who isn't amused by Cary Elwes as a stable boy turned pirate turned hero, Chris Sarandon as the wily and coniving Prince Humberdink, Robin Wright Penn (Forrest Gump) as the beautiful and touching Buttercup and Andre the Giant, who shares the best lines and gags with Cary Elwes. How can you not chuckle at their fight in a field as Elwes tries to save buttercup or when Andre bellows "Anybody want a peanut?!"

The story of the film is so involved and, surprinsgly complicated, that it is hard to believe they crammed it into a little over 90 minutes of running time and still made it coherrent, but Rob Reiner excels at those sort of films ("When Harry met Sally..." anyone?). The story begins as Elwes and Penn are in love and Elwes goes off to seek his fortune but is supposedly killed by the Dread Pirate Roberts. Prince Humberdink then takes Buttercup as his-bride-to-be before Buttercup is kidnapped by a rag-tag group of crooks. To really reveal anymore would be to spoil a classic and wondrous film that still resonates with as many repeat viewings as you desire. Yeah, it's that good.

Summary: What is this?
Review: This movie just doesn't know what it is. Is it a comedy? Is it a drama? Is it a fantasy? Is it a fairytale? Is it a love story? My answer to all of this is, YES! This movie is all of those things and more. It is one of my all time favorite movies. When Cary Elwes and Mandy Patinkin are on screen together there is magic. Their sword fight is among the many highlights of this movie. And that is one of the points I need to make. This movie has so many highlights that it's inconceivable. Buy this DVD and treasure it. I believe it belongs in everyone's collection.

Summary: Classic fun!
Review: This movie is wonderful for kids of all ages, and adults of all ages as well. The script is wonderfully written, witty, clean, and just engagingly done. There might be some scary parts for kids younger than 6 or 7, but there's something for everyone, and I can't recommend it highly enough :)

This movie is great for the whole family, or just lovey little couples. Anyone who hasn't seen this yet- WHAT ARE YOU DOING READING MY COMMENT FOR?! GET OUT THERE AND FREAKING RENT/BUY IT! (I recommend buying it, you may never give it back to the rental place!)

Summary: Ahhh... one not to miss!
Review: If you have never seen the Princess Bride, you really are in for a delightful treat! This movie has all the elements of a wonderful movie: adventure, romance, humor, pirates, a wonderful hero and herione you will root for, and of course a dreadful villian! It's one of my all-time favorite feel good movies.

Summary: lots of fun
Review: I would probably give this 5 stars had I not seen this film so many times that its charm has worn a bit thin. This is an excellent film for the entire family. The jokes are clean, though mostly geared toward adults, but there is more than enough swashbuckling action and basic humor to entertain the kiddies. For those with kids, it's a good DVD to invest in, particularly if you're tired of watching The Land Before Time Part 28 and would like to enjoy the same movies your kids do.

Summary: there is no 'book" - stupid head!
Review: hey reviewer from Michigan --
There isn't any book. It doesn't exist. It was ONLY a MOVIE.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: one of the best
Review: Princess Bride would be one of the movies I would want, if I were stranded on a desert island (with a TV & video)!

There's something for everyone -- humor, suspense, action, fantasy, romance, & mystery. Not to mention the endless array of characters.

It's not just a movie for kids; adults will enjoy this as well.

Summary: If you've read this far I wish you well
Review: The book is one of my favorites and while the movie leaves out much of the book, what movie doesn't, it still gives you all of the best parts and is well worth putting in your collection. For anyone who gives this movie less than at least 3 stars it is obvious you are simply crying for attention in any way you can get it. Well I guess negative attention is better than none, thank your parents.
