Summary: The most boring movie I have ever seen
Review: This movie really sucked. I fell asleep a few times during the course of the most boring 3 hours of my life. Even the two bathroom trips didn't help. The humor was designed for 5 year olds. Only the first 3 minutes were worth watching. After that...total boredom. I couldn't wait for the characters to all die so that the movie would be over. The wizard Gandolf had no powers, the kid was a wimp, his friends were annoying and stupid, blah blah blah.... There was no sense of mystery. I did not care for a single character in the film. I didn't even care about what happens next in the sequel. The only emotion this movie invoked in my was "boredom". ...

Summary: Heads Up to All Those Who Hated LOTR
Review: Okay, I respect that not everyone will like the movie - I get that. I know that there have been movies my friends have liked that I really hate, but I just have to say a few things to those people who wrote the one star reviews:1) I notice that most of these people have not read the books. Now although I feel you didn't have to read the books to love the movie, I understand that that may play a factor - I beg you to read the books, and then pass judgement again 2) Also for those who have not read the books: Do you realize how incredibly idiotic you sound saying "Wow, I didn't like the ending, it was like a book with its ending missing" This is not supposed to be the end, it's supposed to be a CLIFFHANGER. There are TWO MORE MOVIES. If you didn't know that walking in, did you like JUST hear about LOTR or what?! 3) For those who have read the books: I know that I, too, would have liked them to include every last little detail, but you CAN. NOT. Pick about every. single. last. little. thing. The movie would be a week long. Who cares if Frodo doesn't cross the bridge alone? Why does it matter that Arwen gets a bigger part? The only difference that makes is more cash in Liv Tyler's pocket, and less in everyone else's. Personally, I thought Frodo's faster illness under the wound of the sword made the evil seem more real, and it didn't matter that Arwen had to ride him across the river. Tom Bombadill was not the most pivital and moving character in the book, nor does he have incredible impact upon being taken out. Once again, to those who now hate me: I respect your opinions, just have a broader scope before judging.

Summary: A work done with great dedication and passion, and it shows!
Review: I am not someone who is accustomed on expressing my views online, and what I am about to say has already been said by other people many times over; and in better ways as well. So, I will try to keep this short and straight to the point. A lot of things have been said about this movie. Here in Malaysia, its reception can hardly be said to be flattering, at least based on the opinions of those who have seen the movie. ( In a country that is as multicultural as mine, most of the movie's fans seems to be Chinese ). A fact that I find rather puzzling, since there is a lot to be commended in this film. Of course, I could be wrong - this is mostly based on the comments of those in my town of Kajang. I have always believed that nothing we as human beings can do will ever be perfect, be it a movie or anything else. Unfortunately, this applies to LOTR as well. First off, a lot could have been done to improve the battle scenes. Some, like the fight between Gandalf and Saruman in the Tower, as well as that between Aragorn and the Nazguls were embarrassingly bad. Saruman, too, is another problem. I have always pictured Saruman as a good man gone bad, somewhat like a King Saul figure, if you will. Yet here, in the movie, he is portrayed as a wizard who is evil through and through, with no trace of any of the goodness that were once in him. Add to this the fact that he is, in my opinion, played somewhat over-the-top, and I think you can understand the problem I had with this character. All this, however, does not detract or diminish the quality of the movie. Rather, I think it stresses and enhances the good and best parts of the movie.
Which brings me, finally to those good parts. While there was a problem with Saruman, I have to admit that the acting done by the actors playing the good guys - especially the nine actors playing the Fellowship - were generally top-notch. Elijah Wood, the boy with the otherworldly blue eyes and elfin features, was totally convincing as the hero Frodo Baggins, torn between his courageous responsibility and his fear of the evil that is surrounding and hunting him. The same goes for the other actors as well, from Sir Ian McKellan as a mesmerizing and wise Gandalf, right up to Sean Bean as the poignantly human Boromir. The set designs and visual effects have to be seen to be believed, but trust me when I say that the best credit comes from the movie's vocal detractors themselves. Even they have to admit to the splendor and magnitude of those wonderful effects, so yes, it's safe to say that the movie is a sight to behold :) I, for one, will never forget the sequence in Moria. What I like most about the movie, however, is the sense that a story of great power is being told to us, one with real emotions, real dangers, real sacrifices, etc.... all of which go towards making up a great epic. And while it's not exactly faithful to the book, the essence of the story is there, close enough to satisfy me.
This is a work done with great dedication and passion by both director, crew, and cast; one which has already done great service to Tolkien, by attracting new devotees to the book all over the world. That, at least, can truly be said to be an achievement.

Summary: One Major Concern
Review: The one major concern I felt after seeing this movie was feeling pretty sure that any other movie I watched after this one was going to seem pale in comparison (except maybe for the sequals). It must, of course leave out much of the detail in the book, but wow! The producers did a pretty good job of craming the essence into 3 hours.

Summary: The Fellowship of the Ring
Review: First off, it is delicious irony that despite the continued disdain of the media industry towards sci-fi/fantasy, the two most anticipated--and best--movies of the year are both fantasy films. That said...I can't be sure this one will top my list of most beloved films, but that's only because I'll have to see the other two before I can decide. Fellowship is an absolutely stunning, magnificent film. Yes, it does not completely match Tolkien's books, but some things cannot be moved from page to film. It could hardly be better, however. One does not watch this movie; one lives it, right along with the characters. We expected an epic, sure, but we got a heart-deep story as well. One can scarcely believe that the Nine are imaginary--how could it be that Frodo's courage, Samwise's steadfastness, Pippin's silliness, Boromir's strength, Aragorn's nobility, and Gandalf's caring are only made up? Not to mention everybody else... Go see this film, and see it in a theatre where you can fully appreciate the vistas that require a big screen. You will regret it if you don't.

Summary: The Lord of the Rings is AWESOME!!!
Review: This is an awesome movie. I can't wait until the second part comes out because through the whole movie I was on the edge of my seat waiting for more. There is so much action along with drama incorporated into this epic adventure. All the actors and actresses are incredible great as their character. Everyone fits and just brings such a dynamic thrill to the screen. If you haven't seen this yet, I really, REALLY, recommend you go see it. I know I will!!! :o)

Review: "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" is grandly photographed, stays as true as it reasonably can to the book, and is deliciously presented, but I was bored with some parts. I realize that might come across offensive to those who love or will love the movie. However, I felt as if so many or the fight scenes were re-runs of the previous fight scene, like a video game waiting to happen. Different bad guys, different location, but same battle. I wanted to like this more. The scenes were beautiful... sumptuous, but I had trouble getting past the fight scenses. They seemed unnecessarily violent, and didn't display the wizardry I expected from Gandalf. However, I do recommend "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring." It brings home classic storytelling, and archetypal adventure. I plan to see the other two installments, and I'd love to see more about Bilbo Baggins'. Anthony Trendl

Summary: From a skeptical woman
Review: Yes, I was a skeptic being a woman. I was leary of seeing this movie thinking it was going to be another male action/adventure movie. But Oh I was shocked. I went with my husband and brother both who are 31 and I'm 30. This movie was pure eye candy. Right before it ended I checked my watch thinking we were about half way through. Now this is from someone you gets irritated after an hout in a theater seat. The 3 hours flew by and left me wanting more. I will definately be anticipating the next two. I would tell anyone to go see this movie, except for children, we left are 2 sons home. Thank goodness...they would have had nightmares!!

Review: After seing the movie I can tell that the book is better and the movie has changed alot of things which are in the book.
It is one of the best movies I saw all my life you can see that by the graphic effects and the good actors in the movie.
I recommand this movie but more the book.
