Rating: Summary: Good Bathroom Speakers Review: I read an earlier review that these speakers have to be protected from weather somewhat when used outdoors, so I thought they'd make fine speakers for the bathroom, and I was right.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable value if you have reasonable expectations Review: I was looking for a pair of speakers to mount on the eave above my deck. Based on the reviews and the unbelievable price ...with free shipping I gave these a shot. I was not looking to shake the earth, just to enjoy moderately loud music on my deck and in my backyard. I'll agree that the brackets are a bit on the flimsy side, but as soon as I hooked everything up I was flat out astounded at the rich sound quality .... Sound quality is comparable to our ... Cambridge Soundworks ensemble speakers in the living room. I am especially thrilled about the lack of directionality (imaging?) as I was worried that I would have to mess with the balance a lot to get good stereo sound depending on where I was standing relative to the speakers but it is not a problem at all. I'd buy them again in a second!
Rating: Summary: Very nice for the price! Review: I was very surprised by the sound these speakers produced. They are not Bose but for the price they sounded great. I use them out side on my deck mounted just under the eves to keep them from getting too wet since they are just water resistant not water proof.
Rating: Summary: Best for background Music Review: Pros: Lightweight, easy to install with brackets included, and a GOOD price-performance relation. Considering the limitations of the drivers and the housing etc, it is a good deal. The mid-range and high-range definition is pretty good.
Cons:
Just slightly overstepping that what the bass driver can handle, and it will sound really ugly. When we reach that point, the speaker is hardly handling 18W RMS power. In other words: The speaker is overrated being called 100W.
My conclusion:
These speakers are best for multi-room low-level ambient music. It has an emphasis on the 7-8 KHz range, saying that some sources like cymbals sound harsh. Nothing that cannot be fixed with an EQ. The mid range 300-6000 Hz is very well defined and balanced, given the size of the speaker.
As said: A good deal, but DON'T expect 100W from it.
Rating: Summary: Great Sound At a reasonable Price Review: Surprisingly good sound for inexpensive Indoor/Outdoor speaker.
Rating: Summary: Good Value Review: The Audio Source LS 400 are a pretty good sounding speaker for the price. They are not Weather-Proof, they are weather resistant - so they need to be mounted under an eve or overhang. The brackets are ... plastic. If you are looking for a speaker to rock the neighborhood - these are not it. If you are looking for a low price decent sounding speaker - then these are a pretty good choice.
Rating: Summary: Great speakers at an afforable price!! Review: The Audiosource LS 400 Speaker pair ...is a great value! The sound quality rivals speakers at a much higher cost. Clear, crisp highs and lows, a very rich music reporduction, especially when used with a CD or DVD, which makes it the perfect choice for home theater! I ordered two pair!
Rating: Summary: Good, but the LS200 is Better Review: These speakers (LS400) are pretty good. However, even though they are rated at 100W, and the LS200 at 50W (Both from Audio Source), we believe the LS200 speakers reproduce the audio frequencies more accurately. Both use the same 4" polypropylene woofer, but the tweeter arrangement is quite different. This undoubtedly is responsible for the better performance of the LS200. (The LS200 uses a mid-range and a high frequency tweeter as opposed to a single tweeter in the LS400.) The 50W capability of the LS200 should be adequate for most applications. The mounting brackets supplied with both speakers are nothing to brag about, but, the LS400 brackets are made of plastic while the LS200 are at least made of steel. The spring clip wire terminals work well (the same on both). These same clips are used on some much more expensive speakers. These speakers are a good buy but the LS200 speakers are a bargain.
Rating: Summary: Good Speakers at an Unbeatable Price Review: These speakers are mounted inside my back patio and driven by a 100W Sony receiver. Given their size and price, they produce very good sound, especially with rock/pop music (the treble is a bit too strong with country music). For use as patio/deck speakers to listen to music while you relax, barbeque, or swim, these speakers are a great deal.
Rating: Summary: Great for the money Review: These speakers are quite nice. The have good sound and I doubt that you could find any thing better even at twice the price. I would not ever compare these to a set of Bose outdoor speakers, but then they are a fraction of the cost. They have a nice full range at moderate levels, but if you start to push them too hard the bass begins to break up. Not unexpected for a 4" speaker. I have them mounted under the eves out on my back patio and they offer a great sound for background music. They make our backyard more enjoyable and fit our bill perfectly. I would recommend these speakers if you are looking for a nice pair of outdoor speakers at a reasonable price and you do not want to recreate a high end system outside. One item of note is that they recommend that you mount these in a location where they are not subject to direct exposure to the elements. I'm not sure what that implies here, but to acomodate their recomendation, I moved the location slightly to keep them out of a direct hit from the rain.
