Summary: Permanently destroys drive configuration
Review: I got Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 bundled with a DVD+/-RW drive. Needless to say, I was eager to get burning. I've used Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 for 1.5 years and have been very happy. But, that's neither here nor there. I'll cut to the chase.

After installing, I found that all of my hard drives and partitions had been assigned new drive letters, seemingly at random. Furthermore, in Disk Management, most partitions didn't show a letter and those that did show a letter, appeared twice in Windows Explorer. Windows was notifying me that \System Volume Information\tracking.log was corrupt and that I needed to run chkdsk. To make matters worse, Windows no longer identified my system boot drive with the "(System)" designation, meaning I could delete the partition if I wanted!

Uninstalling did not resolve this, so I backed up all my data to an external disk. I then performed a fresh install of Windows XP. I then installed Service Pack 1 and all critical updates. I also installed DirectX 9.0b and Windows Media Player 9. After that, I installed Office XP, followed by Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.

I rebooted, and found the exact same problem. Clearly there is some serious problem with this software. I'm going back to version 5.

For kicks, since I knew I'd need to reinstall XP again, I tried to delete the system partition. It let me.

Summary: A lousy product
Review: I have had this for a year. I have tried to create JPG format cd's using it's DVD burner and it's data storage mode. Neither works. When I move clips around it seems to randomly juggle the pictures. The instruction manual is not useful and overly simplistic. It's support is non-existant. I am scrapping this junk and will try Adobe Album

Summary: Beta version passing as full retail version
Review: I have never bought a piece of software that works SO badly. It turns out the product is extraordinarily particular about which drives it supports, which brand of media, etc. And the list of known issues with mainline software (listed on their 'README' offered to you during the installation) is staggering. My experience with Roxio CD and DVD Creator would be comical if it were'nt so sad. I would be extremely wary of this product...if you could see the type and frequency of problems and complaints in the Roxio web discussion groups, you'd be shocked that this product isn't being recalled. It should be. An utter waste of money.

Summary: Beware the updates
Review: I've had better luck than the other reviewers, however I agree it acts like a beta version. After installing the program I was prompted to "update" the program suite. The update was over 39 mb! After loading a subsequent "update", I was prompted to restart my computer 4 times! Each time the computer would come up, I'd be prompted to restart again for the for the Roxio update to take effect.

Overall, the program is much easier to use than the prior version, in my opinion. I am especially pleased with the buffer underrun protection which was an issue with the 2 prior versions.

Summary: Buy anything else--not this
Review: If the software worked, it would be quite good! It is relatively easy to figure out what to do, and then what to do next.

Unfortuantely, this is a bug laden mess provided by a company which clearly has no concept of customer service. Roxio has no compunction in providing non-working software. While it is possible to produce a working DVD after MANY hours getting the program set-up, woe to the person who then tries to use a different camera, OS or computer.

Current example, Roxio recently updated their engine to ver. 6.2.xx. Attempts to update my registered version resulted in error messages. Attempts to get customer service were unsuccessful. The software should not even be given away free.

Review: Nothing but problems with this software. It does not recognize my burner. I run WIN 98 SE on a new HP. I applied all updates and tried to contact ROXIO for support. They do nothing to help. Terrible product and terrible support. This software is a complete waste of money at any price.
