Summary: Eases tax returns, but sometimes gets confused.
Review: I love tax software vs. the old fashioned way, and TurboTax does a good job in general. In fact, it's the best software I've found, hence my 4-star rating rather than a 3-star.However, the searching capabilities are poor. I often cannot interpret a question in their interview and can not find additional information through a search. I also cannot search on a keyword, such as a line-item deduction, to get to a place in my return. This forces me to step through a whole section of a return, while having to rethink each answer I've already entered, just to find what I'm looking for. The integration with TurboTax State is almost non-existent. I did an amended return of a previous tax year. After loading my original tax file and struggling through marginal help to find out how to do an amended return, I modified my federal return. This modified all of the numbers for my state return, as expected. However, when I went to fill out my amended state return, it didn't have the original number, only the modified. I had to reload the original return, redo all of my federal modifications, then go through the amended state return.

Summary: I hate realized the c-dilla issue after I bought this
Review: After a suspect cdac11ba.exe registed into my winXP task list, I did some research. I came to realize that TurboTax brought the cdac11ba.exe. Then it is too late to know this. Firewall and virus scan are not awared of this. Perfect situation for potential trojan or spyware to "phone home".

Summary: Beware product activation bloatware
Review: I've used TurboTax for years and always loved it. Unfortunately, Intuit has included a product activation feature this year that concerns me. Be sure to check out the editorial cautions about the implications of the product activation feature at places like zdnet.com and cnet.com. As for me personally, after chatting with Intuit's admittedly excellent customer service, I've decided to exchange my TurboTax for TaxCut to avoid the uncertainty of product activation.

Summary: Intuit ruined a once great product
Review: If I am willing to pay for a program i shouldnt be bombarded by adds and telemarketers and have spyware put on my computer that cant be removed. I'm dissapointed i have to give up what was once a great product but no more intuit for me.

Summary: Lots of hassles
Review: You have to email them to activate the program. If you want to install it on another machine you have to buy another. If your machine crashes I guess it's tough for you and good for them. The software tries to sell you upgrades and it advertises products for you to buy. I don't like that. At the end you have to download upgrades. After 45 minutes of downloading on a 56K modem I gave up. The software itself seems to work well and I've used it in the past, but because of the hassles I will not use it again. Don't buy it. (I'd have given it zero stars, but 1 star is the minimum.)

Summary: Long time turbo tax user turned away to tax cut
Review: I think everyone else review already said what I want to say. I have been using Turbo Tax since 1995. I bought this year's Turbo Tax without thinking initially, only to return it two days later. Now I become first time TaxCut customer.

Summary: Intuit does not respect it's own customers...
Review: I have used TurboTax several times over the past few years, but I won't be using it this year. Aside from the notorious problems with Intuit's "anti-piracy" feature, really lousy customer service, and updtae difficulties, here is a problem most users don't even know about. Intuit apparently sells your contact info to everyone under the sun, because you'll get a flood of junkmail and spam after registering. The company makes it very challenging to opt-out, and they absolutely FLOOD you with their own junkmail...

Summary: XP Users Stay Away
Review: Buy TaxCut. Intuit has made it extremely difficult to use the 2002 versions of their Turbo Tax. In an effort to save themselves from piraters, they are going to run off their yearly user base and they know it. They are almost refusing to support and if you have XP, leave TurboTax alone. For some reason it seems to be causing major start up errors in XP. I have had to reinstall XP (3) times, each caused by the direct installation of TurboTax.

Summary: Turbo tax is so much better than taxcrud
Review: I used taxcrud for a few years, and switched to turbo tax. It was so much easier to use, especially for my small home biz. Easy to activate, but im not sure the activation program was the best choice. From all the feedback i've read, I bet they change it for next year. I bet that most of the complainers out there just can't stand the fact that they can't share it now with their friends and "family." Hah! Well, too bad, I say. By the way, Taxcrud=HR block=microsoft. So if you're that unhappy with the software, buy micorsoft, or do it by hand with your trusty calculator.

Summary: Turbo Tax Isn't What It Used to Be!
Review: I've used Turbo Tax for years but this is the worse one yet. I'm seriously considering purchasing another product next year. I just got off the phone with the IRS regarding an error on my return that the software calculated. When preparing my daughter's return for a part time job, the software asks if she's a college student. Well she is, and Turbo Tax gave her the credit that her PARENTS should have had. The only way to get around it is to answer no. I've paid too much for this program if I cannot trust it.
