Summary: Misleading Product Ended Up Costing More
Review: I was a big fan of Quicken 5 years ago, but this version is abysmal. Features that are advertised on the box, but "discontinued", a user interface that takes some time to get used to, and a serious bug that I can't get anyone at Quicken to respond to. I created a 401k account, added two mutual funds, gave them both initial balances, then corrected the balances when I found my account information. The problem is that the updated amounts are correct in the register, but are not correct in any other reports. I can't get it to refresh the data in the reports without deleting the account. I give up. Going to try to find a copy of Quicken from the mid 90's.

Summary: I am addicted to Quicken
Review: I have been using Quicken since it's early DOS versions. In my humble opinion, there is simply no better way to organize all of your finances. Most banks and credit card companies will allow you to download transactions directly into Quicken (no file download from the institution's web site, and then import into Quicken) -- I'm talking about knowing your recent credit card transactions within a day or two (in case you are not the type to enter them in right when you get home). Manage all your brokerage accounts, 401k, IRA, track your mortgage, car payment, etc. It is all there, and come tax time - you will be sitting pretty when you need to import your neatly categorized Quicken transactions into TurboTax or TaxCut.

You will not be disappointed, I highly recommend Quicken 2002 Deluxe or Suite.

Summary: Dropping the ball!
Review: This version has lost a lot of it's visual pollish. We can only hope an update will fix some of the features that have been LOST since earlier versions. In '98 I could change the fonts used for registers! No more. My eyes hurt to look at it. But alas, I have 10 years of my life in there, I couldn't jump ship now.

Summary: Competent package.
Review: I decided to finally upgrade my old Quicken 98, which Windows XP does not like to well. I ordered Quicken 2002 basic and discovered some very nice feature and aesthetic updates. Also, I can now track my stocks and investments quite easily with this software. That is nice.

However, I could not upload my old info (5 years worth) into the newer version. That is a big disappointment, but I am pressing on.

All in all, this is a great way to keep track of your important finances like checking, savings, and investments. It has a great and easy to read chart on expenditures so I always know what I am spending my money on. I like this package enough because it was fairly cheap compared to the others, and I know what to expect from my good old quicken.
