Summary: GOOD money program
Review: Its user interface is very friendly, It defenitly helped my finances. I can see my savings and losses.....could have a little more features...and the charts and graphs are hard to read sometimes....specially the bar charts.

Its worth a little less than what you pay for , but it is still a good deal. I got my rebate quickly too!

Summary: Bad Microsoft 2002!!!!
Review: I have been a faithful Microsoft Money user until now. I had been utilizing Money 98 and my husband decided to give me 2002 for my birthday. I loaded it and everytime I try to enter an account -such as my checking account- my computer crashes and needs to be rebooted. Then when I went on line to get support I had to register in yet another Microsoft product called Passport to get help instead of just an easy email. I have now tried every fix the support person has emailed me and have yet to get it to work. I am going out to buy Quicken. Apparently Money 2002 is not compatible with my system - so as an earlier review said I have effectively donated my funds to Microsoft. I won't do it again.

I also find it very irritating that the product tries to log into the internet constantly. I do not want my financial information out there. When I transfer funds on-line it pops up beside and puts a log in box next to the one for the bank even though I told it not to hook to the internet.

Summary: Not NEARLY as good as last year
Review: This is one I wish I would have skipped. All of the new features are either ugly or annoying. It has way more ads, and is less user friendly. I uninstalled it and went back to 2001. Everyy once in a while MS slips up on us, you can tell they bleww this one off.

Summary: Money Delux 2002 Works Well After Learning Curve
Review: I have used MS Money 2002 Delux for 3 months have generally found it to be a good program. I am using it to record all my expenses and have found it to be easy to use. The reports generated are excellent. I recently retired and have to track of my expenses more closely, so the program is very helpful. The portfolio tracking feature has also been very helpful. It's very easy to update your investment values each day. I have had trouble downloading credit card date into Money - it doesn't work! I don't know if the problem is with my credit card company or with Money. Also usual with all programs today, documentation could be better.

Summary: MS took a good thing and made it bad
Review: Money 2000 was great; it was fast, easy to use, and worked well. 2002 must have been written by a different group: several features don't work like they're supposed to, the online banking 'feature' is horrible now -- it integrates unapproved transactions with your register, forcing you to search through your register to find unapproved transactions. In addition, the budgeting feature breaks, and the really cool cash-flow feature doesn't work -- it will only display "1999" and a zero balance, and won't let you go in to specify different dates.

It's too bad it's such a pain (...)to return software, or I would have done it.

Summary: Consider other options....
Review: I was excited to get this product. I had MS Money 2000, and later upgraded to MS money 2002 standard. I run my own small business and needed something that was easy to use, and that would not require transfering information from one program to another. My first problem with MS Money 2002 deluxe and busines, is that YOU MUST UN-INSTALL the previous software! That was a pain. Why couldn't it just update the other version??

The book is helpful, but is far to small, it leaves hanging on many areas.

Setting up accounts in this program is not easy, it is not like Quick Books at all! The talking voices are annoying, and the help file never gives you what you want. I spent an hour figuring out how to update the business information, so that the invoices would have that vital information. I tried searching for address, no luck, and then business address, no luck. Eventually I stumbled upon how to fix it, but I doubt I could get there again easily.

Please consider other options!

Summary: Don't buy if you are a Quicken user
Review: I recently upgraded my PC and along with the PC came a complimentary copy of Money 2001. I am currently running Quicken Delux 2002. Money 2001 will not import the Quicken information. I had read some reviews indicating that Money 2002 was a much improved product. I bit at their offer to upgrade to Money 2002. When I tried to convert my Quicken files into Money, I received a criptic error message "Your Quicken file could not be converted" with no explanation given as to why the file could not be converted. I tried searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base and after several attempts, found nothing on this particular problem. I went to contact Microsoft Product Support online and got the following message

System Error : Value null was found where an instance of an object was required.
Please try again after some time - Microsoft Online Assisted Support

(...)

So, in the trash goes the copy of Money.

Summary: Not feeling secure.
Review: When I upgraded from a previous version of Money I was prompted to let the upgrade change my Norton firewall settings. Turned out the upgrade uninstalled the firewall completely. Why was it necessary to do this, and who would have been responsible if my system had been breached while the firewall was down?

I don't like the direction Microsoft is going. Installers that remove security and Passport integration that is not easy to turn off (despite what Help says)give me the sense that Money has crossed the line from being helpful to being intrusive. I will be keeping a very close eye on Microsoft software from now on.

Summary: Watch out
Review: The Money upgrade uninstalled my Norton firewall. I was prompted before it did this, but the explanation was not clear and if I had know that it was going to uninstall the firewall completely I would not have upgraded. Combine this with the Passport integration, and I start to become suspicious about whether Microsoft is respecting my financial privacy. I was already concerned by the fact that it is difficult if not impossible to shut off instant messaging, and this makes things only worse. I've been a Money user since '96, but I don't know know much longer.

Summary: Retired Lady
Review: I am having a great time with the new version. I like the way this version handles bills on one page and enters my transactions directly into my register. Since I am not a business person, I do not have the invoice issues cited by others. So far, the automatic transactions is working great. And like others, I can turn off the "stuff" I am not using. This program really helps me track expenses and forecast a budget. It trends some expenses I wasn't tracking, which helps. It is a lot of work, but I find it a lot of fun....
