Summary: Mean & Nasty
Review: I have been a loyal user of Turbotax for many years, business and deluxe. This year, after installation of both products, my hard drive crashed, and trying to get my products re-"activated", involved a lot (and I mean a lot) of useless (and I mean useless) internet chat-time, and at least three wait-on-the-phone calls (where you have to have a pin to call)(which they DON'T tell you they're banging you for $$$ each), and finally get them to send me replacement CD's - which don't work either, and I gave up...

Summary: Turbo Tax Business - OK
Review: I have been a user of Inutit products since quicken version 1.0.
I have been using their tax products for several years and am fairly literate with financials and accounting.
After reading the reviews posted on Amazon and elsewhere, I initially became quite concerned. I did further research, and learned all was not that bad.
I purchased and installed Turbo Tax for Business. Installation was seemless on a P4 1.5gz running XP Professional with a Lynksys firewall, Norton Internet Security and AntiVirus enabled.
Import of 2001 tax return perfect. Minor inconvenience because I use Quickbooks 2000, could not import financial data. Printed out income statement and balance sheet and manully entered data.
Both Federal and state and K1's generated correctly.
I did not use tech suppport - no idea of response time nor level of service.
Their copy protection scheme is still a little unclear to me, although everything I read indicated no compromise or breach in security of my data.
I am comfortable recommending the product.

Summary: TaxCut Home & Business is a LOT cheaper!
Review: I have purchased and used TurboTax Business and personal TurboTax for a number of years. This year, with the registration fiasco with the personal TurboTax product I decided to purchase TaxCut. It turns out that if you purchase TaxCut Home & Business ([$] list) you get software that does the SAME JOB as TurboTax Business. For an additional [$]/state you can get *ALL* forms for that state. This has saved me about [$] this year (I need several business state forms).

TaxCut business will NOT import data directly from QuickBooks, but for me the [$] difference in price is well worth the savings. Also, it seems that the TaxCut folks haven't used the fact that you're installing/using a product as an excuse to advertise all sorts of additional services to you.

Summary: TurboTax for Business
Review: I have used this product for the last four years. It installs easily and I have had no problem in this regard. Instructions and help are quite minimal and I have found Intuit to be very user unfriendly. You cannot get help from them on any problem. I would recommend that a person give serious consideration to any alternatives before purchasing this product. It also requires that one purchase a separate to do state taxes. I beleive that to be a ploy to draw a customer in and then get more money.

Summary: Intuit has lousy support....
Review: I quite frankly can't express in 1,000 words
how poor the customer service at intuit is.
It is the lousiest, and it costs you money.
I've asked and even demanded refunds (and done
all the required paperwork) and still no satisfaction
here. Why are we buying TurboTax anyhow when
H&R Block is the biggest and best Tax Advising company
around. I'll never buy ANY Intuit Product again.

Summary: More abusive than the IRS?
Review: I used TurboTax for Business 2001 last year, and
it worked fine. It was able to import data from
Quickbooks 2000, which helped to prevent errors,
and it was fairly user friendly.

2002 is an entirely different experience. First,
we don't keep our corporate accounting on a computer
that is attached to the Internet. Installation,
registration, activation and updating is a nightmare
as the program ALWAYS assumes an Internet connection.
I spent an entire afternoon just getting the software
ready to use.

Finally able to run the package, I discovered that it
would not import data from Quickbooks. In order to
import the data, it appears we will have to "upgrade"
from Quickbooks 2000 to Quickbooks 2001!!! Since we
don't do payroll with Quickbooks, we have absolutely
no reason, other than our tax return, to pay Intuit
for yet another copy of Quickbooks. This deliberate
crippling of a feature in one program in order to
force the purchase of another is tantamount to
extortion.

We intend to find alternatives to Intuit software in
the coming year, and would urge others to do likewise.
No one should reward this kind of behavior if there is
any alternative.

Summary: It won't install. It *can* happen to you!
Review: I was sure I wouldn't have any problem installing TurboTax Business even though I had read of many problems with the new activation method. I can install anything. I never have a problem. Wrong! My CD just spins and spins and my system is frozen. I spent three hours trying to install it myself including lots of time at their troubleshooting site on the web (where my exact problem is listed, but the solution doesn't work). Want to talk to a tech? $14.95 per incident. In advance. Chat is free, though. They finally said "defective CD". Right. Don't abuse yourself. Get a different program.

Summary: TurboTax user since 1995 switches To TaxCut
Review: I've been a fairly happy TurboTax user since 1995 (still have all the old copies on my shelf just in case). Once I found that Intuit had taken a product activation route I decided I didn't want to risk my time critical data to that risky scheme. I'm one of the many that delays their tax filing as long as possible. I simply won't take the chance of TurboTax deciding it won't print my returns on April 15. Hopefully TaxCut will be as good a product as TurboTax used to be.

Summary: They'll take any chance to screw you out of money
Review: I've been a TurboTax user for many years for both business and personal. This year, they shipped their business CD in a case with a triple tab going through the hole in the middle of the CD. The tabs are so small, that it is nearly impossible for a person with big hands (like myself) to press all three at once and at the same time lift the CD out of the case. When I did, the CD cracked...

Summary: I'm Done With Turbo Tax
Review: I've been using Turbo Tax since the second year it was available and long before it was purchased by Intuit. I am also a long time Quicken and Quickbooks user. This will be the last year I will purchase any Intuit product because of the product activation policy. The new policy allows you to install Turbo Tax on one computer, one time only. In my case, I first installed it on my notebook, then decided that preparing taxes on a notebook keyboard is not a good idea. When I tried to install the product on my desktop and uninstall it on my desktop PC, product activation told me I could not install a fully working product on my desktop unless I paid for the product again. I called tech support and asked for help and was told that the policy only allows one installation on one PC, no exceptions. That is unacceptable. No matter how well Turbo Tax helps prepare taxes, Intuit's new policy makes this an unacceptable product. Avoid it at all costs and show Intuit what you think of their new policy.
