Summary: Excellent product, year after year
Review: Both complaints I read below sound more like people that are too impatient to wait for the final updates or follow directions, than serious tax filers. If you want to file your taxes in January, you are going to have to fill our the forms manually, the software companies (both TaxCut and Turbo Tax) have to finish their final programming after the IRS releases the final rules.

Moving on. I have used TaxCut now for 6 or 7 consecutive years. Every year it gets easier to use. I don't have easy taxes either. I own 5 rental homes and have to deal with all the write-offs and depreciation. TaxCut has been a great help to me. I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: TaxCut should be called TaxHIKE!
Review: Last year, a bug in TaxCut caused by W2 to be entered twice in an e-filed return. Instead of getting a healthy refund, the IRS thought I owed them several thousand dollars in back taxes, penalty, and interest. Speaking of interest, HR Block showed NO interest in helping me with the problem that their bugware caused. It took me several months, several nasty letters from the IRS, and a long stream additional forms (not supported by TaxCut) to get the TaxCut problems straightened out.

I'm giving this product one star only because I can't give it zero. I heartily advise you to do whatever you need to do to avoid this product and this company. Use TurboTax, calculate by hand, or hire a CPA, but do NOT trust TaxCut.

Summary: No support, $10 to speak to rep
Review: Sirs, I bought TaxCut Standard on January 17 and found that it does not allow me to progress past "do you want to download updates now?" (That is bad because the existing software is said to be of November vintage.) When I try to download I am told that I do not have an internet connection. (I did.) So I took the software back and asked for a refund. BestBuy agreed that the software is useless as is. [...]

No value to me. No software update. No refund. BestBuy (Atlanta, Perimeter Center) agreed that to continue to sell that product would only harm the good reputation of BestBuy.

One star seems generous to me.

Summary: Sorry about the Last Reviewer but....
Review: the fact that this program can imports from TaxCut, TurboTax, Quicken, Microsoft Money, was what moved me from TurboTax to here the last reviewer may not have noticed but Taxcut sent out numerous updates that resolved a lot of issues with the software and it alarmed you multiple times before sending off your taxes from last year almost making it error free .. .and they will support you for those errors if any at all if the IRS did indeed have to be involved (I had none with my business). . .after the "spyware like" problems that inuuit's Turbotax and Quicken had, it was great to see how easy it was to move to this program as well as my now favorite MS Money small business program after being a dedicated user of Quicken/TurboTax for 5 years and dreading the change. Below's quotes work for this year and last year for me and I hope for others:
