Summary: Good product and read here about activation woes (gone?)
Review: Well, I finally decided to format my folks pc and reinstall all my software. Also decided to buy Office XP since I am a student and I qualify and I liked the price. Found out by reading these reviews that you can only install it once and have to beg and plead if your machine crashes and you need to reinstall.

I resent being treated like a criminal when I have legitimately bought the software. It is enough to make someone (not me of course =o) ) download an activation crack so that they don't have to beg MS to allow them to install software they have paid for. Interesting no?

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I like the functionality of this version of Office XP 2002 however as another customer has posted a caveat in his review, I did encounter a very rude awakening when I installed this version onto my desktop and then onto my laptop having read somewhere that it could be licensed for up to three computers. Well I was wrong. I do not recommend this product, no matter how attractive the rebate is. Its not worth the money. You're better off buying the full suite verson elsewhere.

Summary: Purchaser Beware of Significant License Limitations
Review: This version of Office XP does include the full suite of Office XP programs and does not require an earlier version of Office in order to install the program. It does, however, have two very important limitations. First, it is not a version that qualifies for upgrading to future versions of the Office Suite. This is a major limitation. An even more important limitation is that the program can only be installed on one computer. Users who have both a desktop and laptop computer are in for a rude awakening if they think, as most would, that it can be installed on each so that the program can be used when the other computer is not available.

Now for the biggest surprise of all. Students and teachers at virtually every grade level from K-12 through college also qualify for purchasing the full version of Office XP for virtually the same price as this package. Known as academic pricing, the Standard version of Office XP can be purchased online for about $155, and the Professional version can be purchased for about $185. These academic versions are full versions of the XP Suite, they qualify for future Office upgrades, and they can be installed on a desktop and laptop simultaneously. Why anyone would buy anything other than the academic versions from academic software vendors totally escapes me. As a point of reference, vendors such as www.academicsuperstore.com sell many, many popular software titles at significantly discounted prices. Don't believe me? Check them out for yourself. You will be pleasantly surprised. No, make that incredibly surprised!

Summary: Dont be fooled
Review: Dont be fooled by this product. What it doesnt tell you is that you can only activate it on ONE PC. You can't have it on a desktop and a laptop. Microsoft is such a JOKE. As if Bill Gates doesnt have enough money, he is ripping off students now.

Summary: The BEST Office suite bar none
Review: Office XP is perfect, having used several office suites there is only one that is the BEST and that is Microsoft Office.
It is rock solid, tons of functionality, the Outlook mail client is awesome. I have used Office since the mid 90's and I am still pleased to this day.

If you want a Office suite to increase your productivity, then this is a must have. You cannot go wrong with Office!

Summary: Best Office Suite EVER.....UNTIL
Review: Office 2003!

I LOVED Office XP until I started Beta-testing MS Ofice 2003.

XP is a killer work-horse, bug-FREE (except FP 2002) and integrates beautifully. I have nothing bad to say about it except it ain't 2003.

If you haven't been using it you have missed out, but wait until the end of October to buy 2003...Unless MS introduces something to trash it, the Office 2003 Suite is an enterprise level Office Suite priced for the home user.

BTW if you buy Office XP from Aug 28 to launch supposedly you can upgrade for free to 2003.
