Rating: Summary: Great Upgrade Review: A great upgrade from the prevous version.
I like it allot better than Office XP.
How could this program get anything lower than 5 starts, i dont know anyone who uses windows that doesnt have Microsoft Office.
Rating: Summary: New and improved Review: Attempt to use voice dictation has been removed. Internet access is available instantly for templates and clipart. It upgrades readily. In many other respects other than a blue color. I cannot see it differs much from previous versions. For a beginner, it is somewhat difficult to use.

Rating: Summary: Best of Class Review: I am using Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Enterprise edition, obtained through an MSDN subscription. Microsoft Office System 2003 will prove to be the best in its class. The Microsoft Office Family has been revamped to provide industry standard XML and .NET support. Files can be easily shared between applications in the Office System family. Microsoft Office now includes a new research tool that allows you to easily search for information. You can search research books (thesaurus, dictionaries) and web resources. Third party developers are creating even more sources (like Google) that will make this an essential tool for anyone writing reports. Microsoft Outlook has been revamped with a new and improved interface. It is now easy to categorize messages, calendar items, contacts and more. These items can then be sorted by category! Outlook 2003 is easier to use than any previous version. Microsoft Office 2003 is a complete solution for the home and business user alike. It is an essential tool for students and developers. The wave of the future is XML and Microsoft is beginning to shape that future today. If you are new to Microsoft Office this is an essential product. This is a nice upgrade from Office 2000 or XP, but mostly for developers and businesses. If you want to harness the power of XML or .NET this is for you. Microsoft Office System 2003 will only run on systems with Windows 2000 or XP installed.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: I had a computer with just word productivity pack in it. My computer came with Windows XP but no Windows software. I have a computer class that uses the software that I don't have, I bought this...I like to use word, excel, and powerpoint. I also like how 2003 pro edition comes with publisher. I would give this software suite 4 out of 5 stars because it can be improved somewhat
Rating: Summary: IT Professional review of MS Office 2003 Review: I have been in Information Technology for well over 15 years. Having seen several software companies come and go I have to keep an open mind on new releases. My first 'end user' experience with Office 2003 was at work after having my workstation upgraded to Windows XP Professional and Office 2003. First impressions, Outlook has improved functionality with a preview pane that displays a new email message with the content. Excellent function, I have to say a small item but worth its weight in gold for the end user. Other items in Outlook previews co-workers calenders with yours side by side. Numerous other excellent features as well to many to list. MS Word also has the preview pane for view docs, works very well and the integration with other applications works extremely well. Excel has new functionality as well as Access is improved as well. There is so many improvements and add-ons that increase productivity I purchased the MS Office 2003 Professional edition and I have to say it was worth every cent. If you want the best Office Suite then look no further, MS has hit a home run here.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful (but pricey) Microsoft product. Review: I really like this new version of Microsoft Office. Like previous upgrades, there isn't too much of a difference in Excel and Word other than a few things, it is Outlook which has the largest improvements. I really like the new look as it uses "screen real-estate" much more efficiently. The Junk E-Mail filters are better than in previous editions (much better!) and I had no problems working with my previous PST files. Also, the ability to send busy and free times to people not on Exchange is really nice. However, I do like the changes in Word and Excel, especially as it comes to sharing with other users. It is nice to have control over what is shared and what isn't shared. The improved digital signature is a fantastic benefit as well. And Access. I use Access all the time for my personal databases. I was really concerned that this might be an upgrade like how 2000 was to 97 where you would need to convert everything over and it wouldn't be backwards compatible. Thank goodness everything is backwards compatible. That is a real life saver. The backup feature is excellent as well!! My hats off to Microsoft for another great product!!
Rating: Summary: Too expensive Review: If you have to use MS Windows, you have a binary choice when it comes to office suites: 1. Open/StarOffice 2. MS Office The first one is great, but is way too slow and its *.doc and *.xls converter is not perfect. The second is really fast -- Word 2003 on P4 1.5G 1G RAM loads in two seconds. But... the professional edition, which is what you want/need/desire costs way too much. I was able to buy it only because I am a student so I get 50% discount on software. In other words, why would anyone pay $500 for an office suite? And if you have four computers at your home (like me), then you can't even install it on all of them (actually, you can install office on your desktop and laptop for non concurent use only). Thanks God I use Linux at home, so I have no other alternative than to use free software ;-) But... if you do use MS Windows at home and you have money to pay for it and it does not really bother you, then you are getting a really good piece of software. I have been using it for a while and it runs smoothly even on XP inside a VM. However, I would like to see MS adding OneNote and FrontPage to the professional edition, so you feel that spending $500 was worth it. I give it only three stars not because of the software quality, which is really good, but because of the price, which for people like me is just to high, and licensing.
Rating: Summary: Use Open Office - It's Free !!! Review: If you want an alternative to MS Office, that is also compatible with MS Office, use Open Office. You can find it under the Google search term Open Office. It's a free download, and just as good as Office 2003. You get a Word application, a spreadsheet application, and a PowerPoint application. All are compatible with Office 2003.
