Summary: overall, a great antivirus program
Review: I've tried norton systemworks and internet security 2003 not so long ago. I didn't have any troubles with it EXCEPT that it slows my computer down. Too much hard disk activity. I don't know but maybe most people don't have this problem with norton. I have an athlon 1900+ with 512mb 333mhz ddr.The slowdown really bothers me especially because i like to play games a lot so it requires that my computer be in top shape. When I used the trial version of pc-cillin, i didn't notice any slow down at all, unlike norton. I was satisfied. Updating was easy but so is norton's.
About the virus detection? Well the manual scan scans fast and the real-time scanner caught viruses that were attached to files i was downloading in kazaa. It caught the virus even though the file it was attached to was still being downloaded. When I was using norton, I didn't have any viruses for a long time. But I think that's when you should be at least concerned: when your antivirus doesn't seem to be detecting viruses for a while. Maybe you really don't have viruses at all but then again maybe your virus scanner isn't doing its job. PC-Cillin detected viruses and thats how I know it works.
A little personal downside of PC-Cillin is that I used to have some tiny joke programs that flips the screen upside down, insults the user or even opens the cdrom tray. I didn't know they were viruses until I used pccillin(norton didn't detect these programs as viruses). I looked at pccillins virus encyclopedia online and found out that that my joke programs were actually viruses, although harmless. Too bad now I can't use these little programs anymore without actually disabling PC Cillin. I dont want to disable pccillin because then you'll be unsafe from viruses.

I'd give this program 4.5 stars but it rounds off to 5. Damnit

Summary: Simply the BEST...
Review: I've used Norton's and PC-cillin and there is no contest. When my old computer refused to upgrade with Norton's antivirus program I came across PC-cillin via a magazine article. It had gotten good reviews and I had nothing to lose. I bought PC-cillin and it worked seamlessly. Updates, no problem. Scanning-thorough. To make a long story short- when I got my new computer I still bought PC-cillin 2003 because 1) it works easily, 2) it doesn't take over my computer like Norton's and 3) it came with a firewall at a better price than Norton's.
- An overall good buy and they give you phone support if you don't mind calling California.

Summary: Slow in performance, but great product!
Review: Its true that this anti-virus makes your computer work slower, but if you know how to 'reboot' and 'defragment' your computer, you should have no problem. In the first month of installation of 'PC-Cillin',I did get alot of errors, and 'Microsoft Windows' asking me to send an error report, and my 'AOL' asking to reinstall AOL software again. All I did to fix the problem was 'reboot' my computer, and everything was back to normal again. To improve the speed of my computer, all I did was use my 'disc defragmentor',and everything was up to speed again, like a 'machin gun'. One month later, everything is smooth like 'peaches and cream'. 'Disk Defragmenter':(1) Go to 'start',(2)Go to 'My Computer',(3)Click on 'Local Disk (c:)',(4)Click on 'File'(located on top left hand corner),(5)Click on 'Properties',(6)Click on 'Tools',(7)Click on 'Defragment Now',and finally click on (8)'Defragment'. This should help speed up your computer for 'Windows XP',you might have to play with it for awhile before you get use to it. It takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to 'defragment' your computer, but when finished, should perform faster.

Summary: Upgrading from PC-cillin 2002
Review: My Sony computer came with Pc-cilin 2002 last year and I thought it was some kind of cheapie antivirus program bundled with the computer. Having been a Norton AV user for years I figured I'd probably have to delete it and get Norton for full protection. As I used the computer over a period of time I really began to like this anti virus software. There is no way I will ever go back to Norton, which my main complaints with are that it was often the cause of system crashes and updating the virus definitions was a pain. PC-cillin has the best automatic updating of virus definitions going. Periodically, maybe once a week or so, when you turn on your computer you get a message from PC-cillin that it can download the latest virus definitions for you - click yes and you're up-to-date! It has also caught several viruses through the year so I know it works! This program is easy to use, automatically updates and won't crash your system!

Summary: A very good product, some misguided reviews
Review: Of all the virus scanning software available for the home user, this is the best. It is less intrusive to your operating system as well as your applications. It runs silently until a virus is detected and then it lets you know what it was and how it reacted to it. Trend Micro is also the leader in virus scanning software and with some of their products they allow automatic updates every 15 minutes. Where else can you get this? No where.

I must respond to some other reviews of this product. The footprint of this software is very small. If you are experiencing performance problems with your machine, there is definitely some other problem that you need to look into.

Also as far as licensing goes. It does not matter who you are or what you do. Most licenses are based on an installation or a machine copy. Anyone who can read a license agreement can verify this. This is the majority of the case for almost every software program that I have ran across. Just because you may own two computers does not give you the right to install a single license across two computers. The reasoning is that you could be using both computers at the same time thus requiring two different licenses. So if you think this is a problem with Trend Micro, you are sadly and legally mistaken. So just as a note, if you own two computers and you only have one license and have the software installed on both machines, more often than not, you are in violation of the software agreement. You are pirating software.

Anyway, this software package is great, and in my current installations it is protecting over 400 machines and is fantastic! Norton and McAfee do O.K., but definitely have issues. Go with Trend.

Summary: Loved it so much I'd marry it.
Review: Ohmywawd... if you've ever been through the ringer with Norton or McAffee... you will think you died and went to heaven with PC-cillin.. the designers should win Nobel Prizes for their peacemaking effort with anti-virus/firewall software. It's so easy to install, maintan and run. It NEVER interferes with my other software. It's DREAMY!

Summary: Pc-cillin 2003, just plain works
Review: Pc-cillin 2003 does exactly what it says. The installation is a breeze. In under 5 minutes I had Pc-cillin 2003 installed, updated, and doing it first virus scan. The updates work automatically and without incident. This program solved the virus problems that I bought it for. The included firewall also protects very well. The impact of real-time scanning is not noticable. Trend Micro trimmed off anything extra to make this program run as smooth and as fast as possible, using barely any resources. I highly reccommend this one, it's cheap, but reliable, and most importantly, IT WORKS.

Summary: Great product at a good price
Review: PC-cillin 2003 works great with my Windows XP home edition. It doesn't take up much system resources and it can scan my complete hard drive in a reasonable amount of time. So far I have not contracted any viruses or had any problems with PC-cillin causing any crashes or conflicts with Win XP or any other software. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.

Summary: PC-cillin review
Review: PC-cillin came with this computer and after using it, I really liked it. I'm going to stay with PC-cilllin. I'm a happy camper that this came with it. I had McAfee before this and now I'm not at all crazy about McAfee.
