Summary: well I don't know if i'd marry it but...
Review: I found it served its purpose and was far less anoying than
Mcfee which I dumped for this .It works in the background much
better than Mcfee , which is what I thought an anti-virus was
supposed to do.

Review: I knew choosing between Norton 2003 and PC-Cillin 2003 was always going to be difficult. I decided to download the demo versions of both for a week just to see how they will fair. In the end it was clear that PC-Cillin was the right antivirus for me. It had the edge over Norton on 3 issues.

1. PC-Cillin uses far little CPU compared to Norton.

2. Norton flunked the Eicar virus file test ... when it came to downloading an infected zip file. This is because of Norton's inability to detect viruses in an archived file. Only after downloading and manually scanning did it detect the virus test file. PC-Cillin, no problems, it detected the virus in the archive at download time.

3. I was unable to download Norton's antivirus definitions through their LiveWire service. I had to manually download and install the updates. With PC-Cillin, the automated update worked flawlessly. It detected that the server hosted newer components and requested to proceed with the update.

With these key issues in mind, I opted for PC-Cillin 2003 and I'm yet to be disappointed.

Summary: Customer Service Stinks
Review: I lost my PC in late 2002 due to a power supply short, and with it went a 3-week-old purchase of PC-cillin. Since I had paid for a year's worth of protection, I requested a new license key from Trend Micro, explaining the accident and requesting permission to use the balance of my subscription on the replacement PC. After 3 e-mails and a snail mail letter, I haven't heard a thing. Their web site is useless. Greed? Indifference? Arrogance? Too busy? I don't know, but an answer would have been appreciated.

Summary: Look no further for virus protection.
Review: I origianlly became aware of Trend Micro when I bought an Asus mother board and it was bundled with the software for the board. I've stayed with it ever since. PC-Cillin is a great anti-vrus program that is very easy to use. There are settintgs that allow novice users a simple interface while advanced users are given more control over the product, right in the same program. It has a nice firewall feature and can check for updates every three hours, or as often as you like. Updates are constant and I have even recieved several in one day, giving me peace of mind that my system is being well gaurded. It checks all downloaded files and e-mail. Blows the other well known guys away.

Summary: Saved me from the doom of McAfee!
Review: I purchased the Home Edition McAfee 7.0 that wreaked "Major Havoc" with my system. I had to yank out the McAfee in a week and I had Amazon expedite me PC-cillin 2003.
I took a shot.
After the awful experience with McAfee, I was reluctant to buy even Nortons... then I found Trend Micro and PC-cillin.
Installation was a snap and it does not interfere with my PC like the McAfee. A very nice product!

Summary: Smooth Installation and Operation
Review: I received and installed the program with no problem (Windows XP Home edition and Pentium III 500 MHz). I was a bit worried that the software would cause a substantial performance degradation on a computer of this age/speed, but things are operating pretty well -- no significant or noticable slowdown. The installation and main program control are simple/straightforward but appear robust. The updating checking is frequent and the update process fast and smooth. I have had both Macaffee and Norton and both worked fine -- this program appears to be a bit better...

Summary: SoCal User
Review: I shopped around a lot before deciding on an anti-virus package. The reviews read here on Amazon about PC-cillin influenced me to purchase the product, knowing full well the popularity of Norton, which was originally my first choice. I've never heard of PC-cillin, and boy am I sure glad I purchased it. Installation was a breeze, and it doesn't slow my computer down. Luckily I had purchased PC-cillin about two weeks before the Sobig virus occurrence, which had wrecked havoc on other computers in my area. My work place was bombarded by sobig, (and we use Norton at work), and it didn't do half as good a job in detecting the viruses. I've even recommended it to my brother-in-law because his computer's software (Norton) didn't catched Sobig, which did damage to his personal computer. He's switching to PC-cillin after finding out that I didn't have any problems with viruses whatsoever.

Since having PC-cillin on my computer, it's automatically detected and updated new virus definitions, even those that come out that day like Sobig, and I've never had a single virus to date. The firewall protection is awesome too! It's definitely protected my computer in all aspects.

Two thumbs up to Trend Micro for this fabulous product! If you're debating on an anti-virus package, PC-cillin is the one to get. Forget about Norton.

Summary: Dumping MacAfee
Review: I use PC-Cillin at work, our IS guys like it over every other package.

I had been using MacAfee Anti-Virus here at home, but it has become cumbersome, and now they want me to pay for another year.

Sorry, MacAfee. I'll still keep and use the QuickClean, but the 4-minute boot cycle from Anti-Virus is wearing on my patience.

I have found PC-Cillin reasonably easy to update, (I'm on a dialup) plus I can schedule its scans for when I'm not on the machine. It stays out of the way, and only does what you want it to do, when you want it to do it. What more can one say?

Summary: Does the job without acting like a 400.lb Gorilla
Review: I used to run norton internet security on my old win'98, once I updated to XP, the norton no longer worked. No amount of uninstall/reinstall would fix it's problems, and their tech support could do nothing to make it run. I tried McAfee, but it got bunged-up on all the leftover remnants of the norton.
We use Trend at work, so I gave this a try. I've had a hiccup here and there, but it works, it catches the bugs, and it doesn't takeover the machine like the norton did.
It almost seemed like norton and mcafee became big marketing firms, that also happened to sell antivirus apps.
If I do have a knock on Trend it's on their support. They're good, but they try to talk in robot-language, i.e. they try not to say anything that they can be quoted on, they hint you towards a fix, if it works, everybody is happy, but if not, they are always able to say "I didn't tell you to do that".
But at least Trend has real support.
You will spend hours trying to find support from McAfee and Norton, and when you do, it'll cost you at least $30 in phone support just for the privelege to talk to somebody (good luck finding that support phone number on their website in the first place).
Trend, good product, solid performance, actual support, no 400.lb gorilla.

Summary: Fast, accurate and almost daily auto updates
Review: I've been using PC-Cillin for 3 years, the best thing about this product is that it is almost invisible to your machine, doesn't slow down your machine or clutter your memory like Norton or McAfee, and is much faster in scanning. In several cases it caught new viruses in the same day of their release, while the same files where passed by Norton and McAfee! They update the software many times a month sometimes more than once a day, excellent support response time too. Only one problem in this particular version Pc-cillin 2003 firewall is that you can't use it if you have two machines sharing the same ISDN connection with the software on the gateway, as it blocks the ports for the slave PC so it will not see the net behind this firewall. It worked perfectly in the earlier version Pc-cillin 2002 though. Still, the BEST and most accurate virus checker in the market in my opinion. Get it.
