Summary: Be Carful When Installing
Review: I installed this product a month ago. I'm still trying to find out how to change the system password settings. I'm locked out of my own security program! Tech support is impossible and the directions aren't clear.

Summary: Some words about Symantec rebates
Review: If you are thinking about buying norton software simply because they are free after rebates, then reconsider it. Although it's well known Symantec makes reliable softwares, When we talk about their rebates, they are liars. Yes, liars ¨Cthey really deserve this. Based on my personal experience, I even think theirs are worse than the notorious I/O Magic's (aka, Hi-Val, Digital research). I bought several Norton softwares during last December, and submitted the upgrade rebates right away with required items, Guess what, until today I got only one of them, and it has been almost 6 months. I guess they are testing my memory but unfortunately I kept a good record of every rebate I submitted. That's what we should do if we are going to buy Symantec softwares with rebates involved, although the best thing I would recommend is to avoid as long as you can.

Summary: IMPORTANT! Be careful when installing!!!!!
Review: If you have Mac OS 10.2 (Jaguar), you MUST run the Norton "Live Update" IMMEDIATELY after installing, BEFORE RESTARTING. This version is NOT compatible with 10.2, and thanks to this application, I got to actually see the unshakable OS X CRASH. A rare sight with the solid new operating system. I only discovered this incompatibility after going to the Symantec website as a last resort. I was about to send the software back, and there is no free 800 number to call with questions. The information I found there is as follows, and it's easy.

THIS IS WHAT YOU DO: Install the software, then quit the installer (without restarting). Look in the Internet Security folder for the Live Update icon. Double click and update the software, You will have to enter your user name and password a few times as the updates download and unstuff. Wait for the confirmation page, THEN restart, and it runs perfectly.

Summary: Version 1.0.2 DOES work with Jaguar (OS X 10.2)
Review: The latest version of Norton Privacy Control DOES in fact work with Jaguar. The 1.0.2 update is available for FREE via the Symantec LiveUpdate service.

Summary: Good start
Review: This is a good piece of software for the home user with a continuous internet connection. Interface could be a little more Mac-like (Aqua) but its the best out there. Especially helpful in that it monitors attempts to access your system. Updates for the virus software appear frequently (try versiontracker.com) and can be automatically downloaded. Highly recommended if you're using DSL or cable modem.

Summary: Great product!
Review: This package contains Norton AntiVirus and Norton Personal Firewall, two well-known Symantec products (especially Norton AntiVirus). Best of all, you end up spending less money than if you had ordered those two seperately AND you also get some other useful programs. Plus, it works on Mac OS X!

By the way, if you are using Jaguar and this doesn't work, don't return it yet! On Symantec's website they are offering a free upgrade that allows you to use it on Jaguar.

My complaint? Why doesn't Symantec offer an all-in-one package allowing you to purchase everything in both Internet Security AND SystemWorks?

Summary: Does NOT work with Mac OS 10.2 AKA Jaguar
Review: WARNING - This product does not work under Mac OS 10.2. ...

I installed it on my computer and received an entire load of problems, many of which are covered in the above link, but also experienced a complete system hang up (unheard of in OS X) as well as the inability to reboot my Powerbook.

Basically, the product will not work on auto, and needs to be started with every boot up (after igonring the 5 error messages you get each time you try to run it).

Amazon and all other vendors of this product need to be sure that they mention this in their descriptions. I only hope I did no permanent damage to my system as a result of this attempted installation. BTW, there is NOTHING in the enclosed documentation to indicate what will happen if this product is installed.

I have performed an unistall, and this product is going right back to Amazon..
