Summary: great buy
Review: Based on value alone...5 stars!
Great system to add surround to your system. I like the fact that the satelite speakers are the same as the front. Often the satelites are cheap and lightweight. These seem to be good build quality all around.

You cant even buy a powered sub alone for the price of this system.

Summary: Home Theatre Speakers
Review: Excellent sound on this system, and I found the bass more than adequate for 50 watt subwoofer. A true bargain; it was 100 times better than I expected. Truly worth every dollar spent, and with the savings I was able to enjoy, I purchased a new DVD player. Highly recommended!

Summary: Amazing value
Review: For less than 1/3rd what I would expect to pay for a single adequate speaker, (and less than the cost of a good dinner for two in SF, including the cost of shipping), this set is an amazing value. Everything about it is just fine. The subwoofer performs well, the speakers are more than adequate.
For starting off with a good theatre setup, I'm delighted.

Summary: Good speakers, need brackets
Review: Got speakers from COSTCO for $77. DEAL!! Sounds great with 5.1 Phillips receiver but package didn't include brackets. Need to know if anyone has the speaker brackets and are not using them and would like to get rid of them.

Summary: Great Entry-level System
Review: I bought these speakers as part of my first full surround audio system. In addition to the speakers and subwoofer shown in the image, the package includes a set of 5 thin little 22-gauge speaker cables, a 6-foot subwoofer cable, and 4 simple metal brackets so you can attach the satellites to your walls. Naturally, you'll need a 5.1 capable receiver to get full surround sound. Mine are currently hooked into a Yamaha HTR-5550.

The sound is excellent; nice and clear, with plenty of power. Lots of quality bang for the buck. The bad news is minor: At a measly 50 watts, the subwoofer is adequate at max volume, but folks looking for the massive bass booms should upgrade this. The subwoofer can double as a stereo amplifier, but given that 50-watt rating, I really don't know why anyone would want to. I'd also suggest tossing the freebie 22-gauge cables in favor of some thicker 16-gauge from the local electronics shop. It's a cheap upgrade, and the quality difference is significant.

Bottom line, even with shipping costs and upgraded cables, these were still a superior deal to anything I could find locally. Highly recommended!

Summary: Not bad, but not great
Review: I bought this set, hoping for a decent cheap set of speakers for my main home theater setup. The sound, for a main set of speakers, was not adequate for my needs. It was OK, but just OK. I have since retired this set to my bedroom, where it is adequate for occasional listening and enhancing my whole-house audio. (I am using two sats on each channel in this config -- gives a nicer, fuller sound.)

I like that the sub accepts speaker-level inputs, which you can then run the sats off of. This makes it ideal as an auxilary set for a den or bedroom, as it only requires one pair of speaker-level cables to work.

I just wish the sub had an auto-power-off. It doesn't. The sub is wonderfully low-profile, however, and fits under my bed nicely. But I have to turn the sub off manually when I go to sleep, otherwise the (very minor) hum keeps me awake.

Good price-point, just don't be expecting a world-class set of speakers. I'm not an audiophile, but I think this set would only be useful as a main set by someone who was a first-time home theater owner.

Summary: Not bad for the price
Review: I bought this system to replace two HUGE speakers that were taking up too much space in the living room. The price was right and other people seemed to like them. Once I got them home, and set them up I was satisfied with their sound once I employed at little EQ tweaking. The sub is a bit muddy and lacks a little punch. 50watts did deliver more power than I expected, just lacked some clarity than other subs I have heard. Now I sohuld say I have an older reciever that lacks a sub connection so I had to run the front outs from my reciever to the speaker pass thoughs on the sub and then out from my sub into my front speakers. So I am sure that is detracting from the over all punchiness and quality of the sub. The satellites performed fine, they lacked some of the crisp high end I was used to with my old speakers and have a bit too much mid for my tastes. I know I sound like I am really putting this system down, but I am not. Just remember the entire set cost like [a little cash] so just keep that in mind. If you are hoping to get the sound of a $500 system then you might be disappointed but if you are looking for a decent system to replace something older, a second system for a bedroom or the kids room, or you want to jump into the world of surround sound but are afraid to spend a bundle then this would be a good choice. The only things I would recommend is to have an EQ in your system to tweak to your liking and budget extra $ for some better speaker wire than this system came with, it is VERY thin and I am sure does not carry the best signal to the speakers. Overall though I am satisfied with this system and got exactly what I was looking for, decent sound in a much smaller package.

Summary: Excellent deal!
Review: I carefully read the reviews and was a little concerned about the bass not being strong enough. But for this price it was a must to buy it. I unpacked the box (it only took 2 days to ship, regular UPS) and hooked it up today. Even thouth my Onkyo receiver has only two speaker outputs (plus a sub out), the three satellites and the woofer sound great. The bass is more than I need and I actually have to turn it down a little. The sound is great compared to the original Onkyo speakers I got with my system. I wonder if the folks here complaining about the subwoofer have a problem with their settings on the receiver. The manual explains some details on how the wrong setting leads to little or no bass. Hope you find a solution. I used to have Bose Acoustimass a couple years back. This system here doesn't come close to it, but for this spectacular price ...you cannot beat it.
I give it all 5.

Summary: Great sound at a very good price
Review: I got these speakers to go with my Kenwood VR-507 reciever. (both 100W x 5.1) I did not use the wire that came with speakers, but instead used 16 ga. wire for better responce. For the price, they produce a very clean sound. The powered sub provides ample bass.
Matched with a great reciever, these speakers perform flawlessly.
Overall,I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.
