Rating: Summary: this review is for Panasonic SL-S200 - bad durability Review: I bought the SL-S200 in august, and it has intermittently skipped since new, a friend who has the SL-S361C had the same problem, and someone else who has the SL-S361C reviewed it and said that his was constantly skipping after 1 week
Rating: Summary: excellent for car Review: I bought this cd player the day I got my liscense. It has lasted me and has never skipped when it was on anti-shock. I listen to a lot of MP3s converted to Wave and it reads them like any other cd. I recomend this if you dont want to spend [the money] on installation for a new cd player receiver for your car.
Rating: Summary: Great overall player Review: I bought this player when my older Panasonic went insane after two years. Although the arrangement of the stop/play buttons is backwards from the older players, the layout is easy to learn and use by touch. The sound quality is excellent, and the anti-shock doesn't take the quality down. The bass boost on this unit affects the line out jack by lowering everything BUT bass. Turn it off before using the line out.
Rating: Summary: HI-Quality portable CD player. Review: I got the SL-S362C model of this cd player, which is basically the same as the S361C, it just has a little wireless remote. The remote is really tiny but it's worth the extra 20 bucks 'cuz I hook up the SL-S362C for the car and for my dorm. In the dorm I hook up the AC adapter and there's a cool green backlight that lites up the unit and makes the track number and time cool to look at. I connect the Cd player to my Bose Acostimass speakers and either the speakers or CD player kicks butt because the sound just blows you away . The unit looks pretty cool, has a nice metallic silver finish. It's not super thin but the CD player's size is compact. I take it wherever I go to listen to my tunes. with 40 seconds anti-shock II, it doesnt skip at all. Overall, I would go for Panasonic. I don't really like Aiwa products, and the Sony models didn't compare to Panasonic. A good solid value.
Rating: Summary: It's better than ever! ,needs more than 5 stars! Review: i have a Panasonic SL-S225 w/rechargeable batts, and it kinda bit the dust after 2 years of EXTREME use;running, dropping on alaskan frost, concrete, water abuse, etc. It still works, but for my b-day,Mom got me the New Panasonic SL-S361C,and it outshines the rest,by a mile! the S-XBS beats others because it amplifies the BASS,not just amplifying the backround noise like all the others, and it doesn't give too much bass. Panasonic, personally been the best brand for me,because I want products to perform beyond what is usually the norm.I have a Robyn cd thats 2 years old,'twas my first cd,but also my most scratched cd,but BOTH Panasonics haven't skipped a single beat. Mom's Sony can't hold a candle to Panasonic, because they don't have the X-BASS,Multi-stage noise shaping,MASH to others, and its more reliable. that said, anyone who wants to buy a quality cd player, should buy a Panasonic. 'NUFF SAID
Rating: Summary: Panasonics are good, but have some flaws, Sony's are good 2 Review: I have some things to say in reply to the last review. Some are in some defence of Sony, and some are about my experience with cd-r's, car kits, and accessories. I have a Sony D-E446CK, and a Panasonic SL-S200. The Sony plays all cd-r's perfectly with no trouble at all. I have one cd-r that has trouble with the Panasonic. It will cut out in between songs if the anti shock is turned on. The Sony plays it fine, however cd-rw's work in the Panasonic and not in the Sony. I have used Kenwood and Sony car adaptors and never had trouble with either of them in our 98 Plymouth Breeze tapedeck. Panasonics are better in some ways but not others. Battery life is better but they dont have a battery level indicator, jsut a flashing light. Panasonics earphones are total crap, the earbuds that came with my Sony were only part crap, but they had good bass, and no distortion. They got hit by a train thanks to my friend (long story) I agree the pop up disc eject is nice on panasonics, but if you know how to pull a cd out of a discman u wont have any trouble. You have to put thumb on spinner thingy, and right hand finger on the right edge of the cd and lightly pull on the edge of the cd. Then it will pop off easily and can be picked up. Do not rip it off the spindle from both ends of the cd! this is probably how some people have broken the spindle on some Sony's. Now, about skip protection. I have not used the 40 second panasonics in real life, i have only tried them in little stand still shake tests. Panasonics skip very easily if the anti skip is turned off. I use my Sony all the time with the ESP turned on and it doesn't skip even while im walking with it in my jacket pocket, or listening to it on the back seat of the bus on our very bumpy! country roads. Panasonics and Kenwoods will almost not play at all under these conditions if the anti skip is off. I never use ESP cause it makes sound quality get a little bit worse, but i can't even walk with a Panasonic in my hand without it skipping. With 40 second anti skip i imagine the newer Panasonics are probably a bit better than my Sony if the anti skip is turned on. If i had the Sony D-E456CK however, it has 40 second ESP and a backlit display (like the Panasonic in this review) and a remote, then it would probably be better. So far its only gotten 5 star reviews here on Amazon.com. Just thought i'd mention some things, hope its not too messy i wrote it fast and put things down as i thought of them.
Rating: Summary: Broke, Broke, Broke Review: I noticed that this happened to a few others... After one car ride the cassette adapter broke--kept ejecting incessantly--utterly annoying. I'm sure it's a decent player if I could ever hear it. Definitely not worth your hassle.
Rating: Summary: Quality problems Review: I purchased this model and had to return it immediately. It would play for awhile for random amounts of time and then power down, especially when operated on the car adapter. It wouldn't always power up immediately afterward. Sound quality when operating was OK. Controls are a bit awkward/confusing and LCD display is hard to read under most outdoor lighting conditions. I definitely recommend AGAINST this model based on my experience with it. I own several other Panasonic consumer products and have been very satisfied with them, so was very disappointed with the SL-S361C.
Rating: Summary: SL-S361C has worked well in the car for me Review: I purchased this product about a month ago and have used it exclusivley in my car for my 45 min. commute to/from work. It has worked very well for me so far - good sound quality, no skipping with the AntiShock feature on, and no problems with the cassette adapter ( I drive a 98 Volvo ). I like the "Resume" feature that keeps track of what song the CD is on when you turn it off, so when you turn it back on ( i.e. for the ride home ) it continues where it left off.
