Summary: Good, Bad, Sometimes Ugly
Review: Winfax is a nice bit of programming. On a machine that doesn't spend much time in other communications programs it works great. If your machine, like mine, is packed full of software, Winfax is almost guaranteed to find something to fight with.

For me, the solution has been to have one machine that has office products such as Word and Access which also has Winfax. It is pretty reliable. Other machines are very busy watching the web or doing processor intensive tasks. These do not have Winfax. This division of labor has kept fights among the programs to a minimum. And, when I try something new on the Winfax machine, it is easy to find the culprit if things start blowing up.

Summary: Big Problem Under Win 2000
Review: WinFax Pro is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 2000, according to my experience and that of many others. It crashes the computer when it attempts to install. Tech support is no help; Symantec either does not realize their software has a problem or will not admit it. (My system: Micron Millenia Max 1.2GHz, 256MB, Nvidia GeForce2 GTS, Aztech PCTel V.90 56K.)

Summary: Winfax 10.0 as an Outlook upgrade
Review: Winfax Starter was undependable and unsupported by Symantec and Microsoft as far as I could tell. Symantec gave me a deal to upgrade to Winfax Pro. I did. It works better than anything else I've found. I receive my faxes. I can annotate a signature and fax back. It integrates with Outlook so that my faxes are received in my Inbox. Any problems have been easily solved. I have not needed any tech support. I am satisfied.
