Summary: Locks up Windows-98
Review: I am considering returning the product, if I can find another product that works better. The tool had locked up several times, forcing me to hit the power switch to reboot. The menu system doesn't give you the ability to tell the user that they selected an invalid option and to try again. The custom greatings are easy to do, but you can't reuse them. A greeting you record for one mailbox is not selectable for another mailbox. Also, I would rate the on-line help as so-so, and Symantec's web knowledgebase as worst than most.

Summary: Deceptive and Does Not Work With Some Modems
Review: I downloaded the Talkworks program on a trial basis expecting it to compliment my WinFax program. I had been using WinFax for about two years and had an abundance of data compiled including receive logs, send logs and phonebook information. When the Talkworks download was complete the receive fax component would not work. I could receive calls and send faxes but could not receive faxes. After several frustrating hours, including a visit to the Symantec website, I tried to find a "free" support line that would enable me to talk to a live human being about my problem. I emailed the customer service address and was informed by return email that I could get support for $2.95/minute or $29.95 per incident. Since I was testing the product I thought that was a bit much. I sent another email and informed customer service that if I was not allowed to talk to a service technician free that I would uninstall the product and shop elsewhere. What I did't know was that if I uninstalled the Talkworks software that it would also uninstall the Winfax software and lose all of my data. When I finally talked to a service technician two days later after waiting for 30 minues he informed me that my 56K-PCI fax/modem was not compatable with the Talkworks software. He also informed me that my data would be lost if I uninstalled the program. Based on my experience with the Talkworks program and the degree of difficulty relative to a service technician I would rate the program at 0 stars.

Summary: No attention to the details...
Review: I've had Talk WorksPro 3.0 for a while now - even downloaded updates and info from the Symantec web site. But there are too many problems with this software. If you use TAPI (so you can use the modem from other apps), caller ID doesn't work. If you use the COM port directly, other apps can't use the modem. Too many people who call me get detected as "silent" and talkworks hangs up on them. Configuring the program is just difficult and time consuming - so many settigs to change yet can't get it to work properly. Talk works isn't the way to unify voice/fax and email...

Summary: Professional Software
Review: I've had the opportunity to utilize Talkworks Pro for about four months and it has been an outstanding compliment to my small business. It has done all that I've asked: whether it notifies me of received voicemail, fax or allows me to setup faxback documents for customers, it has been smooth and trouble-free. A nice complement of setup wizards for a variety of functions. I have been pleasantly surprised. A definite thumbs up.

Summary: It does lock up Windows 98
Review: Launch it and it just won't work under Win 98. The whole computer freezes, forcing a hard reboot. Symantec makes no effort to help. Does work on my Win 95 machine, but I still highly suggest DO NOT BUY!

Summary: WOW Amazing Telephony Software!
Review: This product is amazing and can be used for just about anything! I recommend this to any company! There are an endless array of features. I love the way it sets up menus, fax-on-demand, voicemail, etc. You can even have it notify you of new voicemail instead of always having to check. You can provide a wealth of information that people can have them faxed automatically to a number they specify. The phone feature is great also. When someone calls in, it tells you who it is, and you can have it take a message, or put them on hold (there's even music for that) or pick up using the great speakerphone feature - or even buy a headset for convenient conversing! This is definitely worth the investment and is the best program I know of that manages calls so efficiently and easily. GO AHEAD, ADD IT TO YOUR CART!

Summary: No Longer Supported by Symantec
Review: This was a good product but Symantec no longer produces or supports it. It no longer works on my Pentium computer and it won't reinstall unless I reformat my hard drive. No, I won't do that. Lorraine (David's Wife) :-(
