Rating: Summary: Ok but not great Review: Well when i first say this mp3/cd player i thought it was going to be great. it had a car kit and some pretty cool headphones i thought. When i put in my mp3 cd it took forever, i really mean it forever. Well im only 16 and i am very active. Now there was a review that said it skips when its on its side. I agree i walk home with it in my pocket it skips and stops, very annoying. But when i take it out and hold it flat it doesnt skip no matter what u do with it. The worst thing about the whole cd player is the constant background noise. From the startup of the player it has a hissing noise. Its not that loud but after a while it drives me crazy. I tried about 5 different pairs of headphones with it and the noise was still there. Also the headphones that come with it are not great at all. The features are nice if u have the time to mess with them. Also when u turn of the unit and turn it back on its starts from the beginning. Well im going to return this cd player hopefully so i can get the rio sp250. But its an ok mp3/cd player for the price.
Rating: Summary: Good Value! Review: I purchased the Memorex MPD8507CP primarily for use in my car. So far I have found that it performs as advertised and I have had no problems with it. The first disk that I tried in it was an MP3 CD that I had burnt simply as a back up of the MP3 files that I had on my PC. This disk did not play in my home DVD/CD/MP3 player however the MPD8507CP recognized it immediately and played it without a hitch. I also like the line-out feature, as well as the built in EQ. The ability to navigate/search multiple nested folders is also very handy. The only thing that I didn't like about it is the button placement for the FWD/REW buttons which appears counter-intuitive to me. I kept hitting the STOP button when I meant to hit the REW button because of the way it is placed next to the FWD button, however that is a minor issue and now that I have had the unit for a while, I am getting used to the button placement. The multi line display is OK, but I wish it was backlit. In all I think that it is a very good value for money, especially as it comes with the car adapter kit (very useful!) included.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I was basically going for a stopgap here - something to play MP3's on in my car until I get an iPod (still waiting for that price to come down.) The good: comes with 12V adaptor/cassette out (car kit). Hasn't skipped at all in response to rough roads or light handling. The bad: Random play isn't random! The same order will be played each time you choose random. And what's worse, it won't remember what song you were on when you turned it off. You always start at the same place when you start up. Lastly, if the power adaptor pops out of the socket, which often happens on bumpy roads, the unit shuts off. These have combined for something of a miserable experience on long car rides - you're in the middle of a 100-song mp-3 CD, hit a bump and the unit shuts off. When you plug it back in and turn it back on, you're back at the beginning. You have to keep hitting the track skip to get back to where you were. Which could be 80 presses. And the player doesn't handle scratches and dust well at all. Just save up and buy that iPod. That's what I'll be doing.
Rating: Summary: Buy 1 They work great Review: This is the third MP3 player that I purchased for my car. It was the cheapest and the best. The sound quality is excellent, and I found it to be pretty easy to scroll through mp3folders. The only drawback is the fact that there is only preset trebile and bass controls(5 choices)but my car radio has an eq built in. I plan on buying another in case this one breaks. BUY ONE
Rating: Summary: Great but not THE BEST! Review: I bought mine about a month and a half ago. Its my first portable mp3 player. I have had no problems with the aformentioned skipping, I live on a desolate country road and there are plenty of opportunities for it to skip. Considering i dont really trust memorex, but i really wanted an MP3 player for my car I think this is a good deal for the price ... Its not the best i could have gotten but its working really well. Included was the car kit and headphones (not that great) which was a plus. The interface is a tad confusing at first, but if you try it a bit, youll get used to it. Just watch how you burn your discs! The only bad thing i can say: The cover wont close -all- the way. Has anyone else had a problem with this? ALl in all, if you want a reasonably priced player with good playing capabilities and can handle a lil confusion in the beginning, this is worth your money.. But if youare willing to spend some big bux, Look elsewhere ;)
Rating: Summary: Normalizing MP3 songs Review: An earlier reviewer was looking for a way to normalize songs. Music Match Jukebox software allows you to perform sound leveling of MP3's which makes it so the volume doesn't go up and down between songs. FYI.
Rating: Summary: Hater of this Review: OK....the cd player is really annoying. it skips a lot, sometimes it just stops and wont play again till I take out the batteries, and I dropped it once...and IT BROKE. I had another cd player, I had dropped it a bunch and nothing happened to it...so I got really [mad] about this one. There's way too many features on here and it's impossible to find the song you want on it. It's really slow to play, and it eats batteries like a mofo. All in all it is really annoying, and I'd go with a slightly more expensive, but better quality product.
Rating: Summary: im not hating it! Review: I love it works greats, and has a mp3 player!its got good sound and everything works perfectly! I doubt there is a better cd/mp3 player for the price i payed.
Rating: Summary: Not even a good CD player Review: I thought I'd try this unit out thinking that even if it could only play my MP3 CDs half the time, it would still make a good cd player. Unfortunatley, it only recognized and began playing my MP3 cds about 10% of the time and even then I couldn't use the Find File or Find Song function without it freezing. The only way to reset it was to remove the batteries. Support was non-existent and the user-interface was cryptic at best. I did like the LCD display, however.
Rating: Summary: Good... but probably not best Review: I've been using the MPD8507 since Christmas, and I'm very pleased with it. I've had some skipping problems on occasion (two of which caused a very loud noise in the headphones), but so far never when using the ESP feature. The included car-kit is a great plus, and for regular, gentle playing, it works fine. On the downside, the search & programming functions (as mentioned by others) aren't as intuitive as I'd like, but practicing a couple of times is all it takes. I wish the 120-volt transformer had been included, although batteries do last quite awhile, I've found. This is my first MP3-player, and instead of 15 or 20 songs on a disk, there's 150 - 200... Searching for a song is difficult (or tedious) while driving. I'm not familiar with other players to know if there are easier search functions available.
