Rating: Summary: Good basic, but some issues Review: Let me start off by saying that this is a pretty good little player, but the portable part is where the problems come in. I have only used this player with an MP3 disc, so no comments refer to CD ability.Overall: Loads fairly quickly, about the same as my in-dash car MP3-CD player. It's quite solid, however, the lid is slightly out of alignment, and the volume control is via two small buttons instead of the typical dial, so they don't always respond very quickly, and sometimes not at all. Portability: While I wouldn't expect a player to work well while running, it even seemed to have problems while on a slow walk. Battery life seems good, however. I've gotten about 10 hours out of this set of batteries, and they're still going. Useability: The buttons can be quite insteresting to try and figure out without the manual. It took me about 20 minutes, and I'm quite adept at gadgets. The biggest problem I have with this player is that the random function is anything but random. The first time through, it is quite random, however, the next time you put in the same MP3-CD and push random, it feels like the list has been heard before. In fact it has. It's the exact same order as the last time. Not very random now, is it?
Rating: Summary: Works as both CD and MP3, complicated Review: I bought this player so I could listen to a ton of MP3s burned on to a CD. It works! It's easy to make the CD. Basically burn the CD with about 200 of your favorite songs (it only plays back mp3s) either in folders or all your mp3s on the disc not in any folder. Either way it works. I chose to make folders for various types of music. The problems: 1- due to the few controls and small display, it's awkward to navigate to find a song you want to play. 2- It can only play MP3s or regular old Audio CDs (no wma or WAV files) You also can't fool it by renaming files to .mp3. The good: 1.Sound is good. (not great, but then MP3s aren't real high quality) 2.Volume is fine, it gets loud enough. 3.It comes with a Car adapter to plug it in. 4.Has a cassette adapter! 5.Comes with average head phones. 6.Has headphone output and line outputs so you can plug it in to your home or car stereo with no problems. 7.Has 45 seconds of CD anti-shock memory and over 120 seconds of MP3 anti-shock memory! This is cool. This means that most songs will totally load in memory and the CD will stop! This saves battery power. Very cool! 8.You can pick this up about [price]! A great deal! 9. Plays back CD-R and CD-R/W discs 10. A ton of other fetures I'm not using like EQ, random playback Hint: to plug it in to AC power, go to Radio Shack and buy a 12 volt Cigarette adapter. You can use it for other 12 volt stuff, it's cheap and works great! In short, while the controls are awkward, you can't beat this for value! I like it. ...
Rating: Summary: Display Dies...and sound quality minimal.. Review: It was really frustrating considering I dropped quite a few dollars on this machine..to discover that 4 months later..the screen went out and now the thing will only turn on when plugged into the wall. I have tried 3 - 4 sets of new battaries all to no avail...granted memorex offers great products cheaper then sony or others..but i tell you ...the things die just when the warranty expires. No more memmorex anything for me!
Rating: Summary: A pretty decent MP3-CD player for its price Review: I got this player last Saturday when it was on sale at Target. I didn't quite know what to expect from it, since some of the reviews on amazon made it sound, well, mediocre. I'm happy to say that Memorex has exceeded my expectations. However, there are some things that bug me and consequently have prevented me from giving this product higher than 4 stars. For some reason, when the Memorex player scans an MP3-CD, it sometimes doesn't get all of the tracks. Not a big deal though, since you can always reload the CD (which usually fixes it). The headphones that are provided with the player ..., so I listen to my Memorex with a pair of Philips headphones. Even though the screen flashes its "low battery" warning after several hours of use (about 5 or 6), users should not need to change batteries right away. I was able to get about 3 more hours out of the batteries after the first low battery warning. However, when batteries are really weak and are about to go out, the "low battery" warning flashes on the screen like crazy. Otherwise, I'm quite pleased with the performance of this MP3-CD player.
Rating: Summary: No skip.Reads MP3 CD in 8-10sec approx.! Review: I bought this player last month and till now, I am having a great time with it. I go on long drives pretty frequently and the MP3 capability on this product (with the added car kit, of course!) is a big plus.I have not been having any skips while playing all kinds of music CDs on all kinds of roads, except with the ESP off.I did not have to carry a whole bunch of CDs, just two. There could have been a bass control button on this player. If you are using headphones, the sound sometimes is too shrill for comfort. The controls take some time to learn though. The manual is not very helpful or descriptive. It takes just about 8 secs to read a complete MP3 CD with nearly 135 songs. This is really good when compared to an other one I had some time back (Curtis) which took tooooo long. Overall, this is an good "value4money" product and I highly recommend it. Will keep posting if any problems come up with this product.
Rating: Summary: AAAAHHHHSSOOOOMMMMMEEEEEEE Review: Memorex does it again, this is my third MP3 CD Player from Memorex, they were on board with the technology from day one, and having owned three of these now, I see the progression, and improvement of their product with every one that I purchase. The others served me well, very well in fact, the first one I gave to a friend, the second tok a 3 story tumble, landed on it's side and exploded, this is the replacement. I work construction, and can pack an entire days worth of music on an MP3 CD. I will buy MP3 CD Players from Memorex as long as they continue to make them.....
Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY Review: This cd player seemed great for about the first 2 months. It cost about $.... Then it began to malfunction and broke down completely. I took it back and exchanged it for an identical replacement. That one just broke (only one month this time)... which is why im writing this review. What I learned is that I like using mp3s, but that you get what you pay for. This one doesn't make the grade.
Rating: Summary: Good unit Review: I bought this unit when I was going on a trip in novmber 2002 and it has been playing non stop ever since. I use it in car for audio books and short of a resume feature this unit kicks ass. I found the slower you record your CD's the better performance you have with this unit.I plan on buying another in case this one craps out.
Rating: Summary: you get what you pay for Review: beware, you get what you pay for... if you simply want a cd player that plays mp3 cd's and don't care about quality or features, get this. there are many problems with this, though. 1. resume function does not work, it will only work if you don't turn the cd player off, which is stupid because it automatically turns off after 60 secs. even then, it doesn't resume where you left off in the song, only at the song 2. buttons to skip tracks are backwards 3. volume control is made of 2 buttons, not a wheel, so it can be hard to push up when you want to go up 4. random function is not random. the first time you put in a cd, its random, but if you put in the same cd again, it plays the same tracks in the same order 5. music quality is ok, but not great 6. skips about once every 5 minutes even while resting on a table, and about once a minute while walking 7. randomly stops playing a song while walking 8. search function only searches the name of the beginning of songs, doesn't look through the whole filename 9. no backlight 10. if song doesnt have an ID3 tag, it will display "title : unknown author : unknown" instead of just displaying the filename, which would have made a whole lot more sense. 11. bulky and heavy 12. while playing a song above the manufacturers recommended 128kpbs, the elapsed time shown is not accurate in conclusion, this is a no name piece of ..., and if you are really into listening to mp3 cds, buy something else. I'm on my way to go return this hunk of junk right now....
