Summary: Phoenix Electronics Fan Retraction
Review: It would seem my prior review was in haste. The player I received was defective, an unusual anomaly coming from RCA. The mechanism for the laser reader was not moving properly. Amazon.com was extremely helpful and quick to process an exchange for a working model. Having a fully working model, I highly recommend this item, does everything it says, and at this price and set of features it is the best buy for your money, nothing else can beat it. It has more features than models twice the price and really does have excellent sound with the DBBS. I highly recommend it!

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: My CD player broke, and i wanted to get a new one, so i chose this. The ESP-Extreme anti skip works very well, so i can even run with it. Battery runs out FAST when anti skip is on though. The Cd player does scratch easily though

Review: My CD player broke, and i wanted to get a new one, so i chose this. But to my dismay, THIS IS NOT AN MP3 PLAYER. THIS HOLDS NO MP3's. I don't think it says that it does but maybe i'm just stupid but it seemed a bit misleading. The ESP-Extreme anti skip works very well, so i can even run with it. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT CD PLAYER. Battery runs out FAST when anti skip is on though. CHarger is nice but i don't think it charges itself as someone said. PRETTY GOOD.

Summary: Great Player--some flaws--GREAT PRICE
Review: Ok, this is a great player, and If it works, Get it. The only thing I don't like about it are the headphones. They feel nice, but the sound leakage is Abomitable. Add the price of some Sony's into the price of the player.

Well, I'm not going to say they're all bad, but just so you know, mine wouldn't read MP3 disks right from the beginning. I'm still keeping it because it makes a REALLY nice CD player, especially for this price! I'll buy an mp3 player in addition to this.

Just as another comment, you have to be pretty good with electronics, because the manual is confusing. If you've used these things before, you shouldn't have a problem.

Summary: The mp3 and WMA options work PERFECTLY
Review: Received this unit today and found it incredibly easy to use right out of the package. If you are using Windows Media Player you can create a data cd right from the Windows Media Player (assuming you have a cd burner)using mp3 files and wma files (Windows Media Audio)...no need to use the Music Match software that comes as addition with the unit. I created a 190 song mp3/wma data cd from songs already on my computer and was listening to it within 20 minutes of opening the unit.

If you're in the market for a player that has outstanding sound fidelity (really unbelievable for such an inexpensive unit) and that plays mp3/wma files effortlessly....then this is the unit for you. It got highest marks from the Wall Street Journal tech writer (Walt Mossberg) last year, and I researched every under $... mp3 player out there before I settled on this one.

It also allows you to shuffle (random play) songs with a push of the menu button, and you can switch between surround sound and DBBS with ease - both produce startingly clear sound that had my wife and I both RAVING about how good it sounded the moment we gave it a listen.

By the way, 190 plus mp3/wma tracks contain over seven hours of music....on one cd. Sure, the Windows Apple Ipod holds 2000 tracks, but it costs over $... - and this one does the same thing for under $....

Can you tell we were blown away by this unit? We were....big time.

Summary: too any problems!
Review: So many problems with this thing...

I bought this specifically to play background music in clubs between band sets. Great idea uh, 150+ songs, put it on shuffle play and it can go for days!!! WRONG!

Lets count the problems: Occasional looooong delays between songs, a few songs just cut off and jump to the next (after a LONG pause), It usually shuts down by itself within 30-45 minutes, meaning I have to start it up again. It can take 30-60 seconds to boot up and start playing the first song, and then you have to go into preferences each time and turn shuffle play on. All of these things happen while using the power adapter. Problems grow when trying to run it on batteries.

Sounds like a great idea, and using the power adapter, I would expect to have solid, effortless solution to running music for an entire evening. NO WAY! This thing usually can't play for more than 15-20 minutes before having a problem.

If it were FREE it wouldn't be worth the effort

Summary: Worth the Money
Review: The features on this cd player are great. I especially appreciate the lighted LCD, the line out jack, and the capability it has to recharge it's batteries. The sound quality is plenty sufficient for me, though I did listen to a cd player before that had an extra EQ setting that I liked a little better. I'm curious to try more expensive head phones, since some here have said that is a need; but I was using cheap headphones on the player mentioned above and have tried them on this player as well without improving the effect.

It would have been nice if this player had a resume feature on it. I also would have preferred having the volume rocker button installed the opposite direction, as I think most are on other audio equipment, but for the money and for the seemingly good quality I can't complain about that or the lack of a resume feature.

I do have one complaint, however. When using my rechargeable batteries, turning on an mp3 cd, and navigating to the file I want to hear, sometimes the file will not start playing until I lightly tap the front of the player. I returned the first player I purchased, assuming it was defective. The second player has the same trouble. It works while using the ac adapter, but does not always work while using battery power. I may yet try returning this player to RCA itself in order to see if all the players are like this or if the store I ordered from just had a bad batch. Regardless, if the player holds up I'll still be happy.

Summary: The best Mp3-Cd player i had
Review: This CD player is one of the best cd players I had. I had a Sony and RioVolt Mp3-Cd player and they were okay. But this RCA blows those two away with the sound quality and battery life. I recommend this to anybody who wants a Mp3-Cd player. The other players don't have nothing on this one, I mean LOOK AT THE PRICE!!

Summary: Faulty product info
Review: This product is nice for the price, and I agree with many of the other reviews on it, so I'm not going to run down every feature.

What I do want to post, though, is that the information isn't accurate. Check out the manual through Amazon's link. It says right there that ESP Xtreme, the anti-skip feature, works for audio cds only. You can't turn it on for your MP3 cd, it's not a listed feature. I've had my player less than a week, and the MP3 cds skip frequently. It's still a good player for the price, but I don't know where the product info listed came from.
