Summary: AWSOME!!!
Review: This is one of the best things I have ever owned! It has never malfunctioned so far! It is very light weight, the display on the remote has an extreamly high resolution, however, the screen is not that big, but that is not a problem because of the high resolution. It is small and light weight. It takes a while to load an MP3 CD when you first start it up (about 6-10 seconds) but who changes MP3 cds even once in one siting? The remote is easy to use once you get used to it, which takes at most a day.

Summary: The TRUTH.
Review: Hi there. Firstly, I had ordered iMP-350, but unfortunatelly it wasn't in stock at that time so I ordered iMP-400, and I'm fully satisfied with it. However, I changed the headphones for a KOSS one but stil the whole device is excellent so I can really recommend it.

PS: My rating is for iMP-400...

Summary: Excellent player, BUT...
Review: I love the player. Sound is great, even getting used to the remote was not that difficult. The user manual leaves a lot to be desired. I also do not like bud earphones and used my Sennheiser 477s. A great combination. BUT, the rechargeable batteries bring the entire unit down. What are supposed to be 20 hours minimum of playtime was 6 - 10 hours max. I thought that I was doing something wrong, but after 2 or 3 additional trials, I knew that something was wrong. Even after fully discharging and recharging the batteries, it made no difference. I wish that the batteries were better or just use a different type battery.

Summary: SLIMX- A WASTE OF TOTAL MONEY!
Review: I bought this for [quite a bit of money] a year ago (what a pricey gadget). The battery life was TERRIBLE. Ihad to recharge everyday. Next, the display does not stay lit unless you change volume or song. It is also very flimsy. It was dropped once about 3 feet and it immediately broke. I am happy about it, because it took over 20 seconds to turn on, and had WAY TOO MANY CHORDS. you have cords for the AA battery slot (the rechargable battery has terrible capacity), the display, the headphones! I reember people laughing at me because of all the cords! Save $100 bucks and buy a normalcd player WHAT A WASTE!

Summary: Great CD Player
Review: This is a gret Cd player i just got it yesterday and it is excellent. There is one downside though. The batteries. The recharagable batteries suck. They loose energy really fast when playing Cd's. The external battery pack just gets in the way. That gives you The 23 hours of play time. Every thing else is great. For the earphonesw they give u extra coushining incase you lose one or two. The sound is great. The remote is great but dont be to rough with it. It plays all Cds and i love it. The bass boost is great and it is basically impossible to have it skip when playing your music. This is a great buy but the batteries just make the rating go down one star to me.

Summary: My Last CD/MP3 Player
Review: I owned over several CD portables and the IRiver 350 is coolest. The remote control is "To Die For". The remote is like a little computer; it can open PC folders of MP3. I don't know of any MP3 player will do this. Now, I want to buy the IRiver 400 as a second player. I wish IRiver will made a Super Audio CD portable in the future. I will defintely buy it.

happy listening,
steve:-)

Summary: Don't Buy. Awful Product. Deceptive Advertising
Review: I was excited to purchase this CD/MP3/FM player. Battery life life advertised up to 23 hours. Battery life was terrible. When you read the fine print in the manual at the iRiver.com website, it says 7-8 hours on internal rechargable batteries, not 23. I ran several tests on two differnet units and each time I got only 4 hours, 15 minutes for a standard CD. To get more time you need the external pod. But the pod dangles off to the side, so the unit isn't so slim anymore.

The remote is hard to read and it also dangles and gets tangled with the headphone wire.

When I complained, Amazon sent me to iRiver and iRiver sent me back to Amazon. I feel burnt... I have asked my credit card company to intervene.

My recommendation is to buy a standard CD/MP3 player that operates on two AA batteries and provides at least 15-20 hours. Buy it at a local store so you can easily return it if not satisfied. If you really need the FM radio, then wait for sombody else to manufacture one.

In two words -- STAY AWAY!

Summary: Way ahead of the rest of the crowd
Review: The SlimX IMP-350 has everything: sleek design, upgradeable firmware (consult user's manual), external battery pack to use when the rechargeable batteries that are included with purchase run out, and a remote that you can use to adjust the settings and play music with. It can also play WMA and MP3 files; along with normal CDs. This CD player is the best on the market. I used to have a GPX CD player with no skip protection, and the 8-minute shock protection on the SlimX is great! It even works well when you're jogging--no skip!... You won't regret it!

Summary: Excellent first impression
Review: I've only had the player for a couple weeks, but my first impressions are highly favorable. The player is very full-featured. As a techno-geek, that floats my boat. The controls are intuitive for me. Navigation is convenient. Before buying this unit, I tried several Sony units and a Phillips model. None of them implemented navigation as well.

This player works well with my audio books and old time radio files. VBR and extremely long files are no problem. Bookmarks are available so it's easy to get back to a particular location. The player remembers where one stopped in the file and resumes from that location. If yours doesn't, check the settings. It should.

Caution: I use the player in cars and in other sedentary applications. It may not work well riding on a hip.

Summary: Sweet Emotion
Review: I've had the I-River Slim since it was introduced when the only place to get one was the I-River site. Well over a year now. In that time it has been on 2 long car trips and daily commutes on a motorcycle. The unit is bulletproof. I've experienced no skipping, a full 14hrs playback without the battery pack and great sound. I don't hesitate to take it to the pool as the only exposed piece is the controller. I can safely ride my motorcycle with the unit tucked away in the tank bag. I rarely use the stereo or use standard CD's as there is no point. MP3's play great and extend my playtime enough where I never have to futz with the unit itself. The earbuds produce enough volume to be heard at over a ton inside the helmet and while putting around, it has plenty of clarity. Don't mistake this for acceptance of sub-par sound, as that's not the case. I enjoy this unit just as much during car travel. It just amazes me that any unit can withstand the abuse I heap on this Slim and continue to produce day-in and day-out. I've upgraded the firmware twice'no problems. As far as the negative review, there are only two possibilities'either a defective unit or operator error.

Only complaint I have at all is that it's difficult to change songs while wearing gloves riding down the freeway'truthfully, I'd expect no less. In short, I'll be getting a unit for my 10yr old daughter at Christmas. [For the price], it's a steal.
