Summary: Slim-X rules!!
Review: slim x is the best mp3-cd player around. besides having the best technology, it is the slimmest mp3-cd player too. A big competitor is the roivolt sp250. I tried out both and i found out everything is the same. what you see on the screen is exactly the same. so if your wondering which one is better, slim-x is much better. it is only 0.6 inches thick and the riovolt is 1.2 inches. you also get the screen on the remote on the iriver and not the riovolt. the accesories could change your mind though. the riovolt does have a great carrying case with a belt clip which may be helpful, but i already have a good carrying case. the headphones with both players are horrible, good thing i already have great headphones. So if you are stumped on which one to buy like me, the iriver would be a much better choice

Review: Ditto all the positives

I do wish the radio had AM operation. Some of the functions like bookmarking are a little tricky.

Summary: The best cd product out there!
Review: This product has got to be the best one out there. When i first looked at it, i wasn't too sure i wanted to get it, simply because of the price. But after reading all the reviews, i decided it was worth the money, and i bought it.

I am so glad i decided to buy it. The iRiver 350 has everything i look for in a cd player. It plays almost every audio format out there, and the sound quality is amazing! With it's adjustable bass feature, i feel that i am finally getting the bass i want out of a cd player. This tiny cd player rivals my 5 speaker system for bass and sound quality!

The anti-skip protection on this cd player is incredible! It doesn't even skip on old fashioned-bought from the store cd's! I tried shaking it up and down, twirling it around... and it still does not skip! The iRiver has two antiskip modes, and i was on the lowest one, the 40 something second one!

As an added bonus, this player also has a remote. The remote was a little confusing at first, but after about 10 minutes you can use it like a pro. The LCD text display was on that, not the cd cover. At first i wasn't sure that it was going to be okay to operate with only having the text display on the remote, but it was a good choice for iRiver to make. Not having the text display on the cd cover makes the player a lot more durable.

The accessories that came with this player are not as good as they could be. The cd case is more of just a protective cover, so if you don't want your cd player to get broken i would suggest that you buy an actual cd carrying case. The headphones are the earbud kind. They are not too bad for being earbud, but if you want the full sound quality of this player i would suggest you buy a set of better ones. This player also comes with rechargeable batteries! At first i was disappointed, because i figured i needed my own charger, but the cd player charges them for you!

This is the best cd player out there! I admit the money was a little more than i would have liked to pay for it, but it was totally worth it!

Summary: great product
Review: I bought the Slimx about a week ago and I am very satisfied. The sound quality is great and the remote is convenient and looks cool. It also features upgradable firmware so it can be improved and support for other features can be added. Antiskip is also very good. The only downside is the earbuds, which are mediocre.

Summary: Best Product on the Market so far
Review: I spent weeks looking for a decent MP3 player to suit my needs until I found this jewel. My echo pretty much echos everyone else's before mine but I'll just go straight to the point:
Pros:

- Upgradeable firmware
- Great Sound Quality
- Lots of features that you may actually use.
- In-line remote
- Supports, MP3s, WMAs, ASFs and in the future may support the Ogg Vorbis and MP3Pro formats.
- 8-320kbps bitrate support
- Supports CD-R, CD-RWs and regular Audio CDs.
- Decent skip protection (it skips, but rarely)
The skipping may also be due to my MP3s and the CD-RWs I've been using.

Cons:
- You rely way too much on the in-line remote; which may be a bad thing if you lose or break it.
- The Earbuds that come with the SlimX have are tinny sounding. (For great earbuds get the Sony In-ear Fontopia style MDR-228LP's, unbelievably great sound for their price. ~$20)
- The carrying case could be better.
- Somewhat expensive

The pros far outweigh the cons and if you're looking for features and sound quality, GET THIS PLAYER!

Summary: Amazing little toy
Review: After being burned on many other CD/MP3 players in the last year, I have finally come across the one I've been waiting for all along. This player is compact, sleek looking, and relatively easy to use. Scrap the instruction booklet and just play around with it...it's not too hard to figure out. And as far as skipping? I bought this to use at the gym and actually place on the treadmill when I run. With all the bouncing and vibration, it has YET to skip even once. I've used it for over a month and not a skip. I love it! The only complaint is the rechargeable battery time is nothing like the 20 hours they promise. It's about 10 if you're lucky. So if you rely on those, then just be perpared to recharge it every 3-4 days, which is really no big deal. Or just use the battery attachment and you'll be fine for much longer. This easily blows away any other CD/MP3 player on the market. If you want quality and something that will last, go for this one. You WON'T be disappointed.

Summary: Best mp3 CD player you can buy
Review: Overall, I have to say this is a great little toy. The sound quality is great, and the remote control is a great feature. It's really handy to be able to change tracks or settings without having to get the whole player out. The 4-line display gives lots of info, and can display id3 tags.

There are 3 reasons why I don't give the slimX a full 5 stars. First, the included earphones are not that great. They are ear-bud style, and cannot really give a nice full sound. (Besides, they keep falling out of my ears.) I am much happier with a $12-15 pair of headphones that I bought as a replacement.

Secondly, the functionality of the remote is not intuitive. There are several features (such as accessing WinAmp playlists, changing levels in the directory) that are easy, but not self-explanatory. I had to refer to the manual. The buttons themselves are not well-labeled enough. Lastly, I found that the player skipped when I had it in my pocket while walking at a fairly relaxed pace. I have had much better luck with backpacks and fannypacks. If you order this, I highly recommend getting the iRiver over-the-shoulder bad to go with it; it makes traveling much easier.

Summary: Great except for AC Adapter
Review: I purchased this last month to take on my vacation. I didn't want to carry alot of different cd's so I carried 3 with I can't even imagine how many hours of music. I used different headphones as I am not a fan of the in ear ones. The sound is great, it's easy to use. My only problem was that after the first time I used the charger, it would charge again. I returned it for an exchange and I'm still waiting.

The FM tuner is an added plus. It's also upgradeable so you can't go wrong for the money.

Summary: Awsome
Review: By far the best solution for getting mp3's out of the computer and on the road. Inexpensive, small, reliable, way better than any portable hard drive. Ten times more memory than a...64mb mp3 player, plus those things are way over priced. Trust me I used to have it all. Better than the rio volt 250 hands down.

Summary: Exceptional Product - confusing manual
Review: Alot has been written about this little gem, some of which is contradictory and confusing. After owning it for a month, here are some of my observations:
1. It does NOT skip. By default, 'enhanced' anti-shock is disabled, and it's only mentioned in passing in the manual. Enable it, and jog away! I highly recommend purchasing a neoprene waist belt for this, and due to it's slim profile it sticks perfectly on one's lower back/upper butt. Really, you can sit back on a bench and not be aware you're wearing it.**
2. The remote is a little weird and complicated, but once you're used to it it's truly a marvel. I never missed the lack of LCD on the main unit as I thought I might; in fact, I've come to appreciate the division of functionality, and it makes the unit as slim an unobtrusive as possible.
3. The FM tuner works very well, and is very usable, not just a 'throw-in'. The auto-presets feature is particularily nice when travelling.
4. It's wonderful for spoken word and audio books. I download a daily web-radio show to it.
5. It's ability to read packet written CDs is a huge plus. I hardly ever change disks; I just drag what I want onto the disk and delete what I've already heard.
6. The equalizer is actually very good and listenable, not just your average muddy 'bass boost'.
7. I use Koss KSC-35 clip-on earphones, and the sound is fantastic. Also, the light, airy nature of these phones complements the above mentioned belt fit to create a truly portable sound system that you can forget you are 'wearing'.
If you've read this far, you're obviously interested in such an animal as the SlimX. If so, I don't know what's better than this model. Nice job, IRiver!

**Correction: this player will skip after 8 minutes if allowed to flop around. Nevertheless, it's still better than the 40 second protection from my Panasonic, which I never could run with.
