Review: I recieved a gift certificate for my birthday and ended up purchasing this player. It is loaded with options. The sound quality is great. I love the upgradable firmware, easy to update. The FM tuner is clear and crisp. The inline remote is very handy and easy to use. Overall I am glad I made this purchase.

Summary: Excellent value
Review: I needed an MP3 player for workouts at the gym and have been using this player for around three months now. Wow, am I impressed with this gadget! I can store 160 tracks at 128kb/s on a 650MB CDRW which is enough to last me weeks before swapping CDs. It's never skipped, paused, or misplayed any track. I upgraded the firmware by downloading software from the iRiver site and burning it onto a CDRW. The player loaded it in and, bam, new user interface. It is much improved now. Recently, I made my own Winamp MP3 playlist, which the player loads in and uses without incident. Can it get any better?

Having said all that, let me say that the interface, while offering you almost anything you can imagine (such as user-defined equalization, custom equalization for MP3 music genre) suffers from just that: you get too many choices to do things, and some of the simpler things are hard to do. For example, the FM radio mode requires that you push knobs in certain ways for certain durations to make it all work. It can resemble VCR programming at times. Being technical-minded I have no problems with it, but can see how others might. But, if you can burn your own MP3 with no problem, I don't see how you can lose.

One thing I might advise is an upgrade to the latest firmware soon after you get the player-- the interface will be much easier to use, plus the manual will be readable. I also got a travel case from iRiver. It's a necessity.

Summary: I bought it
Review: I've never rated any item on here without buying it and owning it for a while.

I've owned Nomad Jukebox, iPOD, classic CM800, rio riot, samsung cd-yepp, samsung yepp and now this .. SlimX. You can consider me a pro on MP3 stuff hehe.

Pros:
1. Excellent sound quality. Add better headphones though. The ones that come with it are those tiny plug in your ear types, which for me donot produce enough bass. I've connected sony MDR-V250's.
2. Doesn't skip.
3. Yea it's small but to me thats just cosmetic.
4. Thoughtful navigation features, impressive LCD, and a visualization the LCD.

Cons.
1. LCD is smaller than I had expected. 2cm by 1 cm. Thats tiny.
2. Font size is ultra small. I have good eyes, but even for me the font size is too small.
3. When scrolling thru songs, if your file names are long, the irritating delay in the start of the scroll, and the slow scroll speed makes it a pain to search thru the songs.
4. I haven't still found a way to search for songs by name. (Maybe there is a way).

Overall .. a great mp3/cd player.

Summary: All I can say is amazing
Review: I just got this cd player in today, and it is amazing. It is honestly more than I even expected it to be. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about, the sound is awesome. Yes the headphones [are bad], but you have to buy good ones just like with any portable cd player. The menu is a little hard to figure out at first, but once you do it is pretty simple. As for the charging and battery issues, if you look at iRiver's website (www.iriver.com), it address these issues. I can't say enough about the firmware upgrade. It is simple, and actually ADDS NEW FEATURES! I honestly can say I was not expecting that. Buy this product, you will be happy with it.

Summary: a superlative player
Review: When I decided to by an mp3 player, I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews. When I decided to buy the iRiver SlimX I was not dissapointed.
---------------------------
Pros:
Sound quality - The sound is clear annd clean, with no perceptible distortion (other than that of the mp3's themselves). The sound is detailed and generally high-quality if you use some other headphones.

compact - It easily fits in my pocket. and it looks cool.

the remote - I don't have to take out the actual player when I switch the song. The contols are easy to learn and fast.

long battery life and easy recharging - I once accidentally left it on and it played the whole day. It can play for a good 12 hours or so (about twice as much with the battery pack, which I never had to use). At night I just plug it in, press three buttons and it recharges while I sleep.

Anti-skip - I rarely turn on antiskip and the player still never skips, even if I continuously tap it hard and rotate it.

FM tuner

Firmware upgrade

------------------------------------------

Cons:
No decent carrying case.

remote easily scratches.

bad earbuds

Somewhat disorganized manual.

Addressing other' problems:

Bad sound quality - don't use the included earbuds. get high bit-rate mp3s.

flimsy lid - my lid has a lateral wobble of about half a milimeter. This doesn't bother me because I know that it won't fall off and it doesn't affect playback.

anti-skip doesn't work - I you read the users' manual, you would know that anti-skip doesn't turn on automatically. You have to activate it.
------------------------------------------
I recommend this player to anyone with an IQ over 80.

Summary: Read This Review!!!! - From a serious shopper
Review: I've search high and low for a quality cd/mp3 player that was high quality and relitivley inexpensive. On amazon alone, I spent over a month trying to find the right player and I think I've found it. I've had my iRiver iMP-350 for four months now and it hasn't skipped once! For those who don't like reading, here's a list of pros and cons for this product:
Pros:
1. Absolutly 100% skip free
2. High quality product for the money (competitor riovolt is twice as large and doesn't come standard with an lcd remote, which costs an additional $30)
3. Cool slim design can fit in your pocket and is half as thick as most CD players
4. MP3, WMA, WAV reading capabilities, upgradable firmware, as well as being CDRW compatible and having an FM tuner, all in a nice little package.
Cons:
1. Not very comfortable earbuds, but tolerable to those who aren't too picky about sound quality
2. The case that it comes with is pretty much worthless as far as protection for such a pricey item
3. Rechargeable batteries need to be "broken in." At first, their charge only lasts for a couple of hours, but after discharging and charging (an option given when plugged into AC adaptor) they last the full 15 hours that are promised
4. Remote cable is a little long, which can be both a help and a hinderance. It's great if you have the player hidden in your backpack (perhaps hiding from your teacher in class) and the remote in your pocket, but when the player is also in your pocket you're left with a tangled mess
Well, I hope this review has helped your descision. If your looking towards the Riovolt, don't be fooled. The lcd is on the player, so you have to be holding it in order to easily navigate, plus if you want an lcd remote for it, it'll bump the price up 20 or 30 dollars! All in all, the iRiver delivers the most bang for the buck, this is one great cd player!

Summary: Really Good Product
Review: I just got this CD\MP3\WMA\ASF Player a couple days ago and the only thing that i don't like about it is that the right earbud was about a foot longer then the left earbud, the easy fix to that problem is really easy, just use a different pair of, eather a pair of headphones or earbuds, but other wise this is really a 5 star CD Player.

Summary: The Best I've Owned!
Review: I am on my 4th portable CD player and this by far is the best hands down. Besides having great looks and a thin profile, this player kicks out some great sound. The user interface is very easy to use and understand, I had no problem taking the SlimX out of the box and get up and running. Shock protection has performed as promised, have not heard a skip yet. If I have one issue it would be in the earbuds, could be updgraded.

If you are looking for a CD/MP3 player give the iRiver SlimX a good look. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: Missing the point.....
Review: I actually bought 2 of the SlimX and I guess most people don't seem to like it for the reason I like it. None of the reviews that I've read so far mentions the fact that the LCD display on the remote is capable of displaying 20 different languages including japanese and korean. Find me another MP3CD player on the market that does that! I've looked and there seems to be none existant. This is a definite plus feature for those who are jpop or kpop fans. No more worrying about renaming your mp3s into english or reading messed up id3 tags. This baby takes them all. As for the battery problem people keep talking about, that's mainly due to the NiMH batteries it comes with. Though the instruction manual says that you should occassionally discharge them, I advise discharging them everytime you recharge or else you will slaughter the battery life due to memory effects. This is true to all forms of rechargeable batteries, maybe not lithium ion ones, but most all NiCd and NiMH batteries need discharging before recharging. Other than that, this player works like a charm. 8 minutes antiskip protection for mp3 playback seems overkill but it works. I would strongly recommend this player for people looking for an MP3/CD player, and especially for those into J-pop and K-pop.

Summary: Deceived
Review: Very poor sound quality. Earphones are a joke.
Cannot handle deep bass. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Feel like I have been ripped off...
Please, do not fall in the same trap.
