Summary: The perfect air travel companion
Review: I found this when I was looking for a simple CD player to take on a trip that involved flying. I really wanted it but decided to be practical and just order a CD player instead. Well, the CD player didn't work, so I returned it and that was all the reason I needed to "upgrade" and get the iRiver 350.

Whoa! This baby rocks. It sounds incredible. It plays forever. The batteries have a long life, and if those run out on you, the external AA battery pack lasts several hours as well. I can hop on the airport shuttle, keep the tunes going through traffic, getting into the airport, checking my bags, all the way through the security checkpoints (impressive!), keep listening through the flight, and maybe by the time I've made my connection I might be halfway through the battery life. I haven't gotten the 23 hours of playtime out of the rechargables like they advertise, but I'd say at least 12. That is with playing standard audio CDs, though; I do notice that a burned MP3 CD uses a lot less battery power, so maybe that's where the 23 hours comes from. I always bring 2 AAs with me, and I always have enough tunes to get me home, even if I didn't fully charge the batteries first. (You have the option of fully discharging the batteries before recharging them through the remote, which is nice.)

The machine is designed to be operated with the inline remote; the player body itself has some simple operating buttons on it but no display or options. (The new iRiver player does away with those buttons altogether.) It does take a little time to learn how to use all the functions available on the remote because there are a lot of things you can do beyond play, pause and skip. I still browse the lame little user manual sometimes to see if there are things I haven't tried yet with it. The reason I haven't played a lot of MP3 CDs on it is because it plays the tracks in alpha order rather than track order, and I didn't find making a playlist all that easy on it. Also, it doesn't seem that you can save your playlist and use it later when you put the same disc back in. But it does feature upgradable firmware, so I imagine that any bugs they work out may be fixable in the future. It is really easy to browse the list of tracks, though, and pick out the tracks you want to hear one at a time. And it hasn't skipped on me yet, either using audio CDs or MP3 CDs, even running.

People always ask me about this player when I use it. It's really beautiful, sleek and thin, but all anyone usually sees is the remote and earbuds because I only take it out to change CDs. The "case" it comes with is just a drawstring cloth bag, but I bought an inexpensive padded case with a shoulder strap and built in CD book, and now I don't worry about dropping or losing it anywhere. I love this player and recommend it to anyone, but especially to travelers who love to bring their music with them.

Summary: I won¿t buy another MP3 player...
Review: I ordered a RioVolt SP350 as a Christmas present for my husband. At the time there were no reviews posted, but I assumed that this one was at least as good at the SP250, which I own and love...We were impressed with the size and weight of the new player, although I thought it was pretty ugly. Then we tried to use it, but got a "No Disc" error every time, even with store-bought CDs. By that time, negative reviews had been posted, so I returned it to Amazon.com for a refund. My husband then ordered an iRiver SlimX iMP350 to take its place. We loved the design and features of the iRiver player, but it wouldn't recognize MP3 CDs, either, and audio CDs skipped horribly. We tried to upgrade the firmware, but it wouldn't recognize that CD, either. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts to reach iRiver tech support, he returned the player for an exchange...the replacement player [did] not work either...

Summary: the kewlest gizmo
Review: this little unit is so fabulous! i can slap 200 mp3 tunes on a cd and leave it in the player for a week. or i can burn several hours of audio books on a disk, listen for a time, and the blessed little machine will later pick up the story where i left off. the built in battery charger is a huge plus as well. last but not least is the lcd backlit remote, which provides excellent navigation through folders and files with long names. my only complaint would be that the ear buds (which sound great), were designed for someone with slightly larger ear canals than myself, heh-heh. (they keep falling out.) also, the unit seems to be rather delicate, so one must handle it rather gingerly. all in all, i wuv my widdle slimx!

Summary: Great Product, Great Style, Great Price
Review: I have had this Player for a few months now, and it has been on many trips, and I must say that I love it.

Its sound quality is good, FM clarity is pretty good (this could be imporved a bit though), battery life is real good, and the upgradable firmware is really nice!

Some people have complaigned about only getting 5hrs of life from there batteries, I imagine that they might just have defective batteries because mine work for a good 12-15hrs. You should also always rember to fully discharge and recharge the batteries once a month, regardless of use.

The external battery pack is a little clunky, but wont be really need unless you use the player a lot, and are away from an outlet to recharge.

I have never had to use irivers support, so I cannot comment on it.

Summary: Best portable cd player
Review: This is the best cd player I've ever owned, and the ability to switch between mp3s (on disc) and audio cds is priceless. It works beautifully with winamp playlists, and NEVER skips. I couldn't be happier with it.

Summary: Totally Awesome, but plays MP3s NOT MP3 player
Review: First of all, I am really picky about what I use to listen to my music. This thing is super light, crazily thin, and really cool looking. The remote takes a minute to completely understand, but it doesn't need a college degree. Actually the remote, is one of the things which makes this thing a hit. It has one of the most attractive displays. How they fit so many functions into a small remote is ingenious. Don't buy this if you are looking for an MP3 player, this thing has NO hard drive. It can NOT take MP3s directly of your computer. However if you burn a CD full of MP3s this thing will play that cd better than any other CD/MP3 player out there. With its attractive looks, fair price, and great features, I would say this is the best buy. In the unlikely event that someone of consequence reads this review, just note the instruction manual was a waste of time in reading, I suggest they reduce the price(a whole cent since thats all the manual is worth) of the system and just leave out the instruction manual. It has to be the worst manual I have ever read. I have also heard that the customer service is really bad too. Guys you aren't paying a lot. You can't have everything. The battery time is good, features are great, buy this system.

Summary: Excellent Product
Review: I bought an MP3 CD player a couple years ago without doing enough research, and I was very disappointed. When it broke last year, I decided to buy the best product I could find. The iRiver was it. I can slip it into a pocket and keep the remote outside to switch songs, I can use it in my car with ease, and it reads disks extremely well, something my old player could not do. I use this product at least every day, and I had my mom pick this up for my sister at Christmas. It's wonderful, and well worth the money.

Summary: Fantastic Player
Review: I am very picky about my music. I also never turn my music off. I had purchased the iRiver 150 and had problems after one day. It didn't want to stay on. I returned it and got the 350 model. I love it. I charged the batteries once and they played for 12 hours. I have just charged them three times and now I use the power cable. It sounds great and the remote is wonderful. I haven't had a problem with playing of any format of cd. I haven't turned it off in 5 days and it is doing great. Won't go wrong for this price.

Summary: Virtually nothing to complain about
Review: If I were to cite one flaw, it would be the fairly slow time in cuing up tracks, especially on MP3 compilations. However, there's something to be said for a player that supports so many formats-- set yourself up with a couple of CDRW's and a few CDs, and you're ready to go. It even includes FM radio.

The remote is an invaluable asset. It may sound frivolous, but you'll come to depend on its convenience. And it works beautifully. I don't get the same playing time that the reviewers cite, but with the rechargable batteries and two AAs, you can still get about seven or eight hours of play.

The sound is excellent, although you may want to get some decent headphones to go with it ... .

All told, it's tough to beat the ability to put about 150 songs on a single CDR and still be able to play regular CDs. It makes an MP3 player seem worthless by comparison.

Update: I did run into one bug, and it was significant. After using the player for several months, I found that CDs weren't loading properly, although MP3 compilations played fine. I contacted the company, and they were extremely courteous and helpful. They replaced my player, installed the latest update, and were gracious throughout the entire speedy transaction. As a result, I'm a bigger supporter of their efforts than ever. The great customer service was a big plus, and nine months after receiving my replacement, I'm still enjoying it on a daily basis. I still give this player my highest recommendation, and the software update seemed to get rid of the slow loading time. If you don't want to be restricted by single-format players, you can't go wrong with this product.
