Summary: As a gadget lover, highly recommended
Review: I can truly recommend this as one of most well-designed
highest quality electronic devices I have ever owned.
It is one of the best designed electronic marvels of all time.
Sound quality=excellent, preset and customizable equalizer
size for a CD player=excellent, the player is the thinnest and just slightly larger than a CD disc
battery life=excellent, like about 24 hours
boot up time=excellent, some players take about a minute to read the entire MP3 to get its files list together, not this one.
FM radio=above average to excellent, depends on radio stations signal strength, how many mp3 players have a FM radio anyway
Can use regular AA batteries when the built-in rechargeable dies=yes, excellent
control ease of use and readibility of remote=excellent, remote is on the cord so you don't have to pull the whole damn player out everytime you want to peruse your song list

I have not found any weaknesses in this player. I have recommended it to everyone I know.... I get hours off a burned mp3 CD.
It has never skipped on me. I get about 24 hours off one charge. The thing is crazy, wild, excellent product. If you get one you will admit that it has got to be one of the finest 2 or 3 best engineered devices you have ever seen.

Summary: Amazing Product
Review: Very good product. I love the quality of sound and the battery life. Very Slim , user friendly remote control, with loads of features.

Recently we made a long trip (10 hrs drive) and the battery life was awesome.

I faced some problems in getting back the mail-in-rebate, but after calling them twice they sent me the check for $30 promptly.

Regards
Mani

Summary: Yummy
Review: Call me a geek if you wish, but I must say that this remote control ranks in the top 20 coolest things I've ever purchased. With just 2 buttons and 3 toggles, it does EVERYTHING, from the most extensive options menu ever (including beep volume, fade in/out control, equalizer settings, etc) to playlist selection to folder navigation to custom programming to controlling the radio. There's one feature I really love where, while a song is playing, you can go into the menu and select the next song you want it to play, and it will finish the current song and go on to that. The remote is not for the weak of mind - it took me, possibly the most technically savvy person I know, a good 2 hours, and it's clear from the reviews that some people have issues with it. But, once you get it down, you can do anything you could ever possibly imagine a CD player doing; it's crazy.

Aside from this amazing little remote, you get excellent sound quality, versatility, small size/weight, rechargable batteries (that I, at least, have had no problems with), and a built in radio, for substantially cheaper than other companies.

What are you waiting for?

Summary: forget about it...
Review: At first this seem like the price is might be worth buying this CD player. After all it plays CD's, MP3's, and has a built in radio. But its so NOT worth it. I bought it thinking that this would be the last CD player I would ever get. When I put in an MP3 cd it takes FOREVER to begin to play it. Sometimes it does not play it at all. And I don't mean a few track, I mean the entire CD. The letter on the control are way too small. It can also take a while for it to play regular CD's. However, it does have some good features. It does have a great sound. And the FM/AM radio has a pretty good reception. There are new CD/MP3/radio player coming out. I say check out those before you think of buying this one.

Summary: overall a good purchase
Review: i'm happy with the slimX imp-350 so far. the options/menu/remote control are a little weird. some things i can't get to work. either i'm doing it wrong or something's wrong with it. other than that it's working well, most of the options function properly and the product seems good. it plays regular cds and mp3 cds (i haven't figured out the radio yet). it comes with batteries that can be charged, OR you can hook it up to an external battery pack, OR you can just plug it into the wall and listen to it at home if you want. my only real complaint is that the right earbud wire is 3 (yes THREE) times longer than the left earbud wire. i thought mine was defective but then i saw that other people have posted the same thing. even if i put one wire behind my head the wires usually get tangled. as far as i can tell there is no way to adjust the earbuds, one wire is really short and can get yanked out of your ear while jogging/walking and one wire is really long and therefore gets tangled up with the other wires/connections on the product. once i buy new headphones and figure out the options/menu this thing will be almost perfect...

Summary: Great Product
Review: Really great great product! The only problems are that it skips quite often (but that's if you're mowing the lawn while listening to it). And the screen scratches pretty easily. But still, this is a great product.

Summary: The iMP-350 is the best!
Review: I am really glad that I decided to spend the extra bucks and buy this cd/mp3 player. I had never heard of iRiver until I started doing research when I decided to replace my old rca cd player. I am amazed how many songs you can get on a cd using WMA files. This player comes with rechargeable batteries(ac charger included) and an extra battery case for AA batteries, the remote is pretty easy to use once you get all the buttons figured out after reading the manual. This player is also upgradable via the website. ... I did get different headphones to compliment this player, I don't like sticking things in my ear. There is also good support from the manufacturer. This player rocks!

Summary: Almost Perfect
Review: My only complaint with the iMP-350 is that there is no way to upgrade the firmware if you use a Mac. I'm not about to spend $$$ for Windows emulation software to run one measly .exe file. Most likely I will have to upload it to a networked Windows machine, run it, and then download the resulting file to my Powerbook to burn to cd. A bit of a pain all in the service of not having to pony up for an ipod.

Otherwise this little piece of hardware has been a delight. It is small enough to fit in the hip pocket of generously-pocketed jeans and tough enough not to skip if you walk determinedly up steep hills while wearing those jeans. A few have complained about volume, and with the factory-equipped phones it is a little weak and has no bass punch. I would suggest investing $$ - $$ in a pair of namebrand earbuds; I've used mine with Sony's and Sennheiser's and it is plenty loud and bottomy with either. I ride mass transit rail and have no problems drowning out the screeching wheels without even turning it all the way up. In fact, being the meek passenger I am, I often find myself turning it down so as not to disturb those around me.

And with good phones it sounds great. The user eq is somewhat rudimentary, and there is no way to boost the mid frequencies, but a little fiddling gets the bass up there where it should be and the treble bright without hurting your ears.

I have had no problems with playback of mp3s. When I bought this I thought I would listen to audio cds more often than mp3 cds, but after burning 12 hours of music each onto 4 disks, I have had no real desire to carry around a library of audio cds. So I can't comment on how well it handles those.

The remote is very nifty and controls almost more functions than you'd want it to. For instance, I have yet to come up with a good use for the feature which allows you to loop excerpts of any length. Perhaps if you enjoy rapping to yourself this would come in handy. The user's manual, though, is cryptic to the extreme. The best way to learn how to use the remote is to press each button--and they do different things if you press them for a long or short time--and see what happens. The display backlight is a very pleasing shade of blue.

One thing that I really appreciate about the engineering niceties that went into this are "hold" buttons on both the main unit and the remote: engage them and none of the buttons on that part of the player will respond when pushed. Maybe this is a common feature but I realized how handy it was when I found myself inadvertently pressing buttons while the remote was hanging from a front pocket.

I had buyer's remorse for about 15 minutes after buying this player but it passed quickly and now I never leave home without it. Quite possibly one of the most rewarding purchases I've made this year.
