Summary: Why so negative, it cost $... what did you expect!
Review: We have about a $2 million service company with a little of everything and I have to tell you I love this product. I am not fooled by what it is and what it is not. I am sure if your business is complex you need to be somewhere else, but for small businesses that do not have exotic needs this package works ...period. I am constantly amazed by the features. Yes it is a fancy check book, but cash flow is where the information action is for smaller companies with out a lot of assets to worry about. Very nice invoicing, pretty good inventory if you have any (we don't). When I reconcile the check book we are never off by a penny, I like that.

Don't think you are buying a system suited for GM or IBM or any complex asset intensive or complex billing type company. But for many of us out there with money in and money out it is great.

Summary: Be careful before you buy
Review: While QB 2001 has it's good points, I have seen better products.
There are 3 things that I have a real problem with.
1. The reports, other than the financials, are very poor. Forget about getting a list of customers with addresses that you have invoiced. It can't be done. Or if it can, I haven't found it after several hours of trying.
2. Run all options before downloading an update. I downloaded an update before running my first 940 report and then got system errors. The only help I have gotten is to reload the software, but horror stories on the message board concerning the loss of use of the database after reinstalling after an update have convinced me I can live without that report. I guess I could pay the exorbitant support fees to fix a software bug, but I'd rather do the report manually. I hope my W2's work.
3. If you only have a couple employees, don't get this to do your payroll. You will get charged $129 annually (minimum) for tax changes you don't need every 45 days, and there is no way to get them annually. Very disappointing.

Summary: "The #1 Rated accounting software for the new millenium"
Review: With this outstanding business software it is a DEFINITE that Intuit is going to take over the market share completely. Managing your business has never been easier with the new QuickBooks Pro 2001. To start off, Intuit has developed a product that is offering some great new features and benefits. One of my personal favorite new added feature is the ability to batch print reports. The batch printing capability allows you to print out as many reports as you want at the same time, instead of having to modify each individual report then print it out. It also prints out time stamps on the reports keeping your records a little more organized displaying the time and date which that specific report was printed on. Another great enhancement is the almighty spell checker for us who don't always keep a dictionary handy! LOL! This is one thing Intuit has been needing to add to Quickbooks. Spell checker will make sure your documents are professional whether it's an invoice or purchase order. You can even ADD special "terms" or a customer's "original" name to the spell checker dictionary! I have been part of The Professional Advisors Program since 1999. I can honestly say that I have not always been satisfied with some of the decisions that Intuit has made. I can also honestly say that Quickbooks Pro 2001 shows the long effort to make managing your small business a hell of a lot better than ever before! It's been a pleasure working with this company. Cheers to Intuit for finally making it easier for everyone who has that "small business."
