Rating: Summary: An excellent first accounting package. Review: I used peachtree, then switched to this. It is half the price, less complicated, and has a lot of features not included in other packages. This package permits dozens of expense accounts. The statement of a 4 account limitation by one of the other reviewers is completely bogus. I will admit, the configuration of the invoices is a bit kludgy. Documentation is available, and they answer their support email. Your only going to set this up once. So as long as it gets done, it isn't that big of a deal. If you buy ANY accounting package, include the price of the contact management suite in your comparison. All of of these companies cripple their product in this category and sell an additional product to squeeze the last few cents out of their customers. It is a dumb buisiness tactic, and promotes distrust among customers. THEY WOULD BE SMART TO RAISE THE PRICE AND INCLUDE THE CONTACT MANAGER BY DEFAULT. Being my first set of books, the features I found really helpfull: Email invoicing: An absolute requirement. Theirs sends it as a word document, which is less than optimal. A PDF or plain text option would be much better. Video Help: Theirs is included in the base package and is very well done. This turned out to be extremely helpfull. Interface: Their interface is fairly sharp. Menu depth is reduced compared to some of the other packages I've seen. If you do the books as a matter of chore rather than joy, you will appreciate the fact that you don't have to navigate several layers of menus to get to things. Overall, I am a satisfied customer. This product does everything I want as a first time buisiness owner, and doesn't make me waste a lot of time to get it done. And that is what it is all about. Features I would add: 1. Additional email invoicing formats. HTML, XML, PDF, and plain text would be great. 2. A command line tool for adding querying or deleting contact information. This would permit fully automated importing of customer information. For web sources for example.

Rating: Summary: Time To Waste Review: If you have time to waste then by all means purchase this software. I am not new to using a computer or using software, in fact I do it every day of my life so I wasn't worried when the package seemed a little tricky at first. No problem I thought, just take some time with the manual and all will be well. Judge for yourself: What software package do you know that doesn't provide a print preview? Try this one. In order to preview your invoice you first must print it. (I'm not kidding) then close the window, goto Setup:Reports and Forms, select the form, in this case an Invoice, select "Customize Form", select "database:log on to server", acknowledge the No default mail client message 4 times, select "ODBC-Simply Accounting forms", and finally select "print Preview" This is the honest truth. It gets worse, in order to perform a reconcilliation you must link expense and income accounts to the account you wish to reconcile, trouble is you are limited to four accounts so if you run a business and you have allocated more than four expense accounts.. too bad. Save your money. Buy something else. And to think I bought this over Quickbooks because everybody disliked Quickbooks tech support.
