Review: This is actually an excellent software, but I wish to have using multi-currency version sothat it can be used all over the world.

Summary: Probably very powerful but needs some simplifying
Review: This may be the best small business accounting software available, but it could still use some streamlining. I started a small corporation on a limited investment. I am not an accountant, so I didn't expect to ace the software on the first day. That said, this version of QuickBooks probably only has about 18 features that I have any use for out of hundreds of available features. The screen is not laid out in a way that is self-explanatory, so finding those features is not automatic. Even those who have used Quicken (Intuit's home finance software) in the past are unlikely to find the interface self-evident. Efficiency is also a concern. QuickBooks opens too many internal "windows" without closing the source window, thus the software eats up memory very quickly. It would be as if every last time you click on a hyperlink while surfing the internet, a new browser window opens automatically. Not good.How much does QB intimidate? Well, it is April 14th, and I've been putting off doing my taxes because I don't want to have to find and decipher all of QuickBooks' tax related features, side notes, suggestions, and other fringe information. All of this said, it is fairly powerful software, and I am probably remiss for purchasing one of the more advanced versions of QuickBooks for such a small business. If you have tens of thousands of dollars in extra cash and can afford to automate your accounting processes (such as payroll) through QB's add-on-for-an-additional-investment options, this is probably the software to buy. It is established, it is advanced in its abilities, and it is the industry standard. However, if you're small potatoes, (even if it's hard to admit it), then you might want to consider something a little less involved, like a "dumbed down" version of QuickBooks or maybe MYOB.

Summary: CRITIQUE QUICK BOOKS 2000 (NOT PRO)
Review: WE ARE A DISTRIBUTOR OF WIRE AND CABLE. CURRENTLY USING QUICK BOOKS 2000.HAVE USED ALL THE OLDER VERSONS BACK TO WINDOWS 3.1. I FINIALLY BROKE DOWN AND NETWORKED OUR 4 COMPUTERS.
THINKING MULTI USER WOULD BE NICE, I STARTED SHOPPING FOR 2000 PRO. I FIND THE REVIEWS HERE AT AMOZON APPALING AND SCARY BECAUSE I GIVE QB2000 RAVES.
I AM CURENTLY AT 32 MEGS OF DATA, HOLDING OUT TO 12/31 TO COMPRESS.
THE PROGRAM WORKS WITHOUT A FLAW. I AM AWARE THAT INTUIT IS NOT HELPFUL TO THEIR CUSTOMER BASE, BUT I HAVE NOT REALLY NEEDED THEM. WHAT ELSE IS NEW IN THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF COMPUTERS? WE ARE A SALES COMPANY, QB GIVES US A GREAT DEAL OF SALE INFORMATION WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT,AND IS WHY I GIVE IT 98%. THE ACCOUNTING IS FINE FOR OUR ACCOUNTANT. QUESTION.... DO I BUY THE 2002 PRO UPGRADE????

Summary: Beware the bugs!
Review: We had been using a single user version Quickbooks 2001 for about 1 year without any problems. Upgraded to a 5 user version of Quickbooks 2002 and employed someone especially to go over the accounts receivable and tidy everything up. After 3 days work Quickbooks clobbered it's data file and the only solution was to go back to a week old backup. The built in 'verify' and 'recovery' utilities did not work. Intuit might be able to recover the data for [money] and 10 working days ... no thanks. I cannot see any other cause for the data loss other than a bug in Quickbooks. Yes, we should back up more often, but I am a careful computer user and this is the first time I have lost data in the last 15 years, by any means. I have lost confidence in the Quickbooks not to corrupt it's own data files, so we are now backing up several times per day. Other than the data loss, some of my other gripes with Quickbooks are:
1. Text fields are not handled like regular windows text fields. For instance, ctrl+insert will not act like copy in a text field. Address fields are constantly trying to re-format themselves into a jumbled mess.
2. Some of the features require subscription to an Intuit service before they are any use - payroll is the best example.
3. The lack of a packing slip is a major problem for our business.
4. Tech support is [money] per minute or [money] per 10 minutes if you want to wait for Intuit to call you back. Ouch! However, what else is there which compares with the ease of use and features of Quickbooks? Just make sure you keep a good paper trail and back the data file up.

We have it on two computers and recently downloaded an update and ended up with a virus that knocked out our network for three days! In spite of our antivirus program. The customer support is terrible. Get this product for check writing and invoices but stay away from the payroll products!

Summary: Constant money drain
Review: While this program seems to do a lot, it presents a lot of frustrations too. 1. Technical support starts [to get expensive] to get anything useful, and you have to wait a long time (at your own expense) to get help. Built-in help is insanely organized, and the printed manual refers you to the built-in help. 2. Not really a Windows program--the menus don't work the way you'd expect, and you often tab off into some wildly unpredictable field. 3. Sold for multiple users, but not really a network program; many things can't be done while in "multiple user mode" and the (single) file for each company gets bigger and bigger, taking forever to load and quit as time goes by. 4. Constantly presents you with little advertisements for other Intuit products (Web hosting, payroll service, pre-printed invoice forms) while you're doing your own work. Infuriating! 5. The menu structure is illogical--adjusting journal entries are under "Banking." I haven't tried the others so can't compare. Notwithstanding the above, this may be the best such program of its type! Just dont' suppose you're going to get everything you need for the price of admission.
