Summary: Don't buy it!
Review: Well, I used FP98 and hoped that FP2000 would have gotten rid of a lot of the quirks the previous version had...NOT! Talk about frustration. I tried editing an HTML file in FP and it ended up scrambling my code. And when I tried to save the code the way I wanted it FP would automatically rearrange it. Plus, it would add it's own little HTML tags along with it.Another key issue was WYSINWYG (what you see is NOT what you get). You'd place text fields, buttons, etc. in certain places on the page and when you previewed the page they would be misaligned, off-centered, or whatever. I could go on forever on other quirks FP has, but I'll just leave it at that. Do yourself a favor and buy Metacreations' Dreamweaver.

Summary: Handle with EXTREME caution
Review: While many aspects of FrontPage2000 are very easy to use, and while I feel it is an upgrade over FP98 in many, many ways, the glitches remain, and are difficult to correct (when correction is even possible). Too often closing tags are left out, the automatic META tags are a pain, and the program is so IE-centric that it can be very difficult to create a page that looks correct in other browsers (especially Netscape). If you are able to repair HTML code, it's a decent tool. If you are doing a corporate intranet site and don't have to worry about Netscape users, it's fine. But if you are publishing for the web, don't be surprised to find yourself a bit frustrated by some of the program's anomalies.

Summary: Front Page 98 was better...
Review: Sadly, I gave away my copy of Front Page 98 before buying Front Page 2000. I shouldn't have. As per usual when it comes to Microsoft products, this is a bloated beast. As another reviewer has stated, it is slow to respond, even on my box with 128 megs of RAM and a 500mhz processor. Also it has some strange quirks. Often I work on one page at a time, quickly making minor changes, and then I just close the program. I am used to seeing "Do you Wish to Save Your Changes?" and I click "Yes". I have lost count of the number of times Front Page 2000 has closed without asking me to save my changes, thus losing whatever page modifications I have made. And there's the way Front Page 200 monkeys around with my code, and insists on inserting itself in the META tags as "GENERATOR" even when I have modified that, too. Add to all this the annoyingly changed menu bars which make you hunt for the Thesaurus and other functions, and as I said, I wish I had kept Front Page 98. If you have Front Page 98, don't upgrade, unless you enjoy additional headaches in your life...

Summary: Judging from the old
Review: I love this product but do have to agree with others on several issues. First issue is html friendliness... it's not. This program changes some of the coding to what "it" wants. Second issue, yes, it is mostly designed for IE browsers. Sound, watermarking, and personal indent settings. Sites look terrific on IE but don't view it on another browser as Netscape or you'll find yourself sick. And last (my biggest problem)... Do not attempt to build more than 30 or so pages with graphics and expect to get into each page you wish to work on, quickly. There is a terrible waiting period per page and in saving. (this does not refer to browser loading, just to work on individual pages in the program itself) You almost know that when you have 128 megs of memory and only 65-75 percent of it is being used without other problems with other programs that that's not the problem.

Summary: FrontPage2000 Is Great For Small Business Applications
Review: I have found FrontPage 2000 great from the stand point of not having to learn to write massive amounts of HTML. You can write your own HTML if you are so inclined in the HTML editor, and you can modify pages directly online (although MS advises not to). FP2000 does have a bug though, it will delete information in the shared borders if you attempt to use the "Find" feature - definitely a new bug not found in FP98. The FP extensions are great - just make sure your ISP has them installed properly, otherwise forms, counters and searches, etc. won't work properly. We maintain a 453 page e-commerce site that is well over 30 MB, and for a small employee base (4), it doesn't take us long to modify our site.

Summary: Fantastic ! Easy to use! Great File Manger!
Review: I use Microsoft FrontPage both at home for our Church Website and at Work for our Customer Care Website on our Intranet. The program is user friendly and does everything you need it to do. I highly recommend it over all of five other WEB Editors and Managers that I have used. You can be smart and write your own HTML or use WYSIWYG features where yo point, click and type and Front Page does most of the work for you. Well worth the bucks. Robb

Summary: Wonderful, Beyond Belife!
Review: I can creat the most amazing web pages with this editor. It is the best I have seen. Once you learn how to use this you can do ANYTHING and I mean anything! The only thing that could possibly hold you back is if you do not know how to upload your pages without using FP's uploader (it can only be uploaded to certain servers). You can creat, frames, tables, maqrees, and much more, with just a click a click of a button. It is a WYSIWYG etditor, which can be helpful, but you can also switch from regular, to HTMl, to internet preview. The only bug in it that I have found is that their counters don't work. But besides that I f you know how to use ot you really can to ANYTHING. Great for beginer-super advanced web editors, their is nothing you can't do without just adding a little HTML!

Summary: FP 2000 is a tease
Review: My experience with this software has been exasperating... It write buggy java code, creates forms which can only be used inside the FP framework, and creates html that is very overloaded with extraneous text (read: longer downloads). Finally, you are forced to use a hosting service which provides special extensions. The purpose for these could be accomplished in standard ways, but MS has choosen to introduce security holes and extra costs by forcing this on its users.... I would use almost anything before using this product.

Summary: The Ultimate in Web Page Creation Software
Review: This is the software that will put all us web page designers out of business. Simplicity and Power in one package. Design in a WYSIWYG or HTML. Incorporates JavaScript easily. I've tried numerous others, none have been as intuitive as FrontPage. And now that nearly all servers are running "FrontPage Extensions" we can forget tedious CGI scripts. With FrontPage Hit Counters, Guestbooks, Feedback Forms, Banner Managers, and more are all a snap.

Summary: A poor Web editor... avoid!
Review: I am really surprised at all the positive reviews of this software. Have any of the other reviewers used anything else, like Dreamweaver or GoLive? FrontPage is the bottom of the barrel, folks, and the problems are numerious: - You can't edit source code in a way that sticks. FrontPage sometimes create bad HTML, and you're stuck with it. - FrontPage is okay for Web sites that are only accessed through IE5. FP makes few allowances for Netscape, Opera, etc. - Javascript is really IE only. I could go on, but I strongly suggest you shop around.
